GTA 6 will run at 30fps on console, former GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 animator expects, and your best shot at 60fps may be hoping for PC

I’ll be skipping it on consoles if it’s 30fps. I won’t be caught dead playing a modern game at 30fps in 2025. I doubt this guy really knows what fps it will be though. I’m willing to bet there will be a mode with at least unlocked frames. I don’t see the game being capped at 30fps even on consoles especially on the Pro.

Even on Pro?

PC keeps getting better and better.

I assume you will need a beefy machine tho. Which may or may not be a big deal.

CPU limited most likely.

i think you still do not understand what i'm trying to say here.

is it going to run better compared to a console? no shit obviously.

is it going to run well as expected from a PCMR? well............i'm not sure about that.

We shall see, maybe you are right and GTA 6 ends up running PERFECTLY on PC.
Who is this all saying PCMR? All I see is wild generalisations

I would not take a gta on these trash consoles any other way, 60 frames would have traduced in a way less ambitious game.

I'm gonna double dip on pc for the definitive experience.

You must have forgotten how GTA5 ran at launch. Almost constant sub 30fps.

PS3 had the notoriously strange architecture that developers struggled with, and PS4 had the severely underpowered Jaguar CPU. PS5's CPU is the biggest jump we've seen in the CPU console space, and although relatively weak compared to the newer CPU's it's still very capable with the PS5 already running a majority of the titles at 60 FPS.

I could be dead wrong of course, but I'm keeping an open mind.

Gta6 like rdr2 deserve it even just for the groundbreaking tech and liveable world the game is gonna have, and it's not like gta6 is a beatiful turd like hellblade 2, the game is gonna be at the very least decent-ok so a replay 1-2 years alter is not gonna be hard to do.

I don't understand the decision to go for 30fps at all. Back when we had poor LCD TV's it was kind of playable, but with these new OLED and LCD panels 30fps makes for a horrible experience on MOST screens anyway. Personally, I played Hellblade 2 on a OLED and it was just about doable, but only because I trained myself in moving the camera very slowly. This is not an option in GTA.

30fps games without a 60fps option are a big risk in this day and age. It's almost unplayable and should be illegal at this point. It's just half assed.

30fps will slow down sales for sure. It's not 2013 anymore.

Honestly, I won't be surprised.

Xbox Series S/X and PS5/PS5 Pro will be 30 FPS.
Next-gen they sell you a next-gen version with "improved" graphics and "higher" frame-rate.

They know people will double dip so it's quite literally the easiest way to make a lot of money for them.
Absolutely. Same way they did gta 5. I honestly wish they did the same with rdr2. I'd pay for a 60fps on console :(

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
30 fps is 100% a no buy.

I’ll easily wait for PC.

Sony should send every available engineer to get the performance to 60 fps on a Pro.

If an Xbox console still exists MS should do the same.

There is nothing wrong with 30fps. Also then the game can look even better.

I'm a higher end PC weirdo who does actually find 30fps very occasionally acceptable, so long as the post-processing pipeline (high quality camera and per object motion blur) and input response are as snappy as they can possibly be at that refresh (something like 16ms).

The trouble is Rockstar games are INFAMOUS for their 30fps console performance profile having the in-hand feeling of wading through thick shit in a pair of wellies. Seriously, no other playable avatar feels worse to control than a 30fps Rockstar one.

Exactly

At 60fps you have to cut back on a lot of things to get there.

A real next gen open world simulation is what I want from Rockstar, and it looks like it's going to happen.

Hooefully they can get on par with the incredible reveal trailer even if it's gonna be almost impossible, but if there is a dev that has the money and talent to do it, that's rockstar.

60 fps are ok for crossgen looking games like sp2 with shitty city simulation where you can't even interact with cars and pedestrians other than a shitty high 5 or selfie.
