JavyOO7 said:My favorite GTA is Vice City, how would this one stack up amongst this gen's GTA's?
Razoric said:Picture most of the features in Vice City and put them back in GTA3 with a new story / radio / etc and slightly better graphics.

If a handheld GTA expansion pack that chews up the battery significantly faster than I can charge it is what passes for "REAL INNOVATION" these days, it must be a pretty sad day for gaming indeed.

Think of the POSSIBILITIES!

Giant 3d World, highly interactive, wi-fi play... yes, innovative.
Christberg said:For a handheld, sure.
Ignatz Mouse said:Innovative? I clipped the part of your post that wasn't relevant.
Christberg said:dictionaries are your friend:
innovative
adj. being or producing something like nothing done or experienced or created before; "stylistically innovative works"; "innovative members of the artistic community"; "a mind so innovational, so original"
So, is GTA on a handheld like nothing experienced or created before? Nope. It's largely the same thing, just now you can take it with you.
Ponn01 said:Awesome, you answered your own question for yourself. It's GTA on a handheld that has never been done before like this. And you have Multiplayer introduced to boot as well. Move along now, move along.
Christberg said:So I have this painting I did on oil and canvas. If I copy the same exact painting on Bristol board with acylics, is it innovative?
The system is the canvas, and the game is the painting. Think hard, grasshopper.

Ignatz Mouse said:I've never been able to play GTA multiplayer in a pick-up setting. or been able to play GTA on a commute.
So yeah.
Never answered the Walkman question, either.
Christberg said:And no, a walkman (CD player) isn't technically innovative as you had portable tape players before that. Now a portable tape player... is definitely innovative. First portable music/recording device that I'm aware of, and at the least, the first easily usable one.
Basically, what you're saying is that a portable tape player is innovative because it's portable so GTA must be innovative if you make it portable. This is a really bad analogy- because it was the act of making the portable hardware that was innovative, not the music it was playing. Basically, you're proving my point instead of effectively proving otherwise.
The gameboy was innovative. Metroid II wasn't.

Your trying hard aren't ya. A game on its own merits can be innovative. Also, this isn't just GTA being portable, the function thats being touted as innovative is the fact that you can take GTA on the go and being able to fight with 6 other friends in the GTA world. All on a handheld.
Now what makes CD players innovative is not because its the first device to make music portable but because its such a leap beyond tape based diskettes. The fact that CDs could be played on the go is what made it innovative. No rewinding, fastforwarding and the quality of sound was better.

koam said:Wanna take a bet on that?
Yes, I would. Not possible on DS. I mean they couldn't even fit in the radio stations, let alone make anything else even remotely similar to what we know and love.koam said:Wanna take a bet on that?
