Ronan has always primarily been an Antagonist in the comics. He only started being a sort of protagonist around when the comics this film is taking influence from started. Even then, he was still portrayed as someone so devout to his beliefs that he's pretty insane.

He's also already confirmed to be working for Thanos. And, before they revealed that Lee Pace was Ronan...it was said that he was playing a character who would possibly get his own film in the future.

I haven't been this excited to see an action movie since probably the last Star Wars flick as a kid. I don't even like what Marvel has been doing (thought Avengers was boring) and I've never read any of these character's comics, but these trailers really push my buttons in the right way. I'm getting major Star Wars / Firefly vibes from it, which is just
space
dandy.

I think this is the most hyped I've ever been for a movie and I'm 36. When I was a kid the possibility of a comic book movie starring Spidey was pie In the sky. Now we get all these great characters! What a great time for comic book geeks!

I love the way it looks. I hope it is good and Marvel's gamble pays off. The movie is a big test if the Marvel brand name can sell a movie.

This looks amazing. I'm so excited, and I'd never heard of the Guardians of the Galaxy before this movie was announced. MCU is awesome.

I hope it does and Marvel can swing their nuts around and make crazy stuff like Power Pack, Damage Control, Doctor Druid, and Blue Marvel.

I think Ronan looks pretty cool. I knew who he was, and he looks like he can wreck some shit. Obviously he'll turn by the end.

I wonder who will eventually be cast as Rich Rider. It's going to be a known face, not that damn kid from Iron Man.

As an Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 fan I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't very disappointed in Raccoon's generic, Hollywood-white-guy voice casting. Doesn't help that I play the game often - that Australian accent was awesome and I'll forever associate the character with it, since that game was my initiation to the character. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but I don't understand why Marvel would introduce such a broad audience to the character with that idiosyncratic tone and then abruptly switch gears when it hits the medium that matters most.

Also, Chris Pratt has some of that generic, Hollywood-white-guy going on as well. I keep associating him to Nathan Fillion's Malcom Reynolds and it's doing him no favors.

He started out British but they dropped the accent after the first series.

I'm a huge fan of all the MCU thus far (and I have faith GotG and Ant-Man will raise the bar to crazy levels) but I don't really want a kid's hero team in the MCU. Unless Marvel gets FF back from Sony, I think they should leave kids out of the main story.

ronan was pure villain for a long time. The kree have their reasons, and that reason is to be the most powerful there are at all costs.

Crystal didnt give him the iNhuman nookie yet and calm his ass down.

Black Panther? Fans seem to have that as their number one wish. But if they do cast BP, go for someone young and relatively new like Pratt. Please no older actors.

I'm guessing Ronan is still an Android by the way, judging by the fact in the trailer a smoking plate sized hole in his chest doesn't seem to bother him that much...

This actually looks fun. I suspect the action/violence will be lacking (par for the course for PG-13), but the sci-fi setting and sense of "fun" shown in the trailers is very appealing. May give it a go.
