100 net lost? Or can you make some back still by selling the insides?
Got a couple of minis, 1 that goes for 17g and one for 2 or 3. I guess I'll sell them next year sometime when Halloween stuff is expensive to get.

I should probably invest another 50g on ToT bags and sell them after Halloween when thier supply drops....or I can just channel my inner retro and keep saving my gold.

Was at 600g before HoT just from playing regularily. Decided to play the Ecto lottery, lost 400g and all my ectos. Now looks like I lost 100g on ToT bags.

I wish I could buy ToT bags with candy corn.

Nice, I never really ran Purity sigils, I usually use Generosity. But on hit verse on crit I bet makes it a lot easier to survive.

Since I'm on Soldier on crit sigils are a bit useless. But Purity is just there because I can't think of a better sigil to put in right now.

Farming them is really easy. In ~3 hours last night I farmed close to 50g in bags alone just by rampaging through the maze alone or with a smaller group. Plus a ton of vendor loot and a handful of rares/t6 mats. The maze is a goldmine with bags this expensive if you like the grind.

I know but, everytime I get time to play (max 1 hour usually) I like spending it in the new areas and doing the story.

The Kanik life.
You and retro will have to fight for the naming rights of this "way of life".

I'm happy I was able to get the story done already, now I can focus on Halloween with no fear of being spoiled big-time :D

Was sitting on almost 600g myself too but I bought the Bloody Prince Staff for my Necromancer(cause it goes well with Twilight color-wise) and the Chiroptophobia GS cause I have to make an 'everything bats' look sometimes in the future :p
Both are around their lowest price since last halloween so it was as good a time as any.

Also with the expansion, after seeing how stupid the new armors looked on a human male and being quite unhappy with the original selection available, I finally did gender-swap (and Name change) my Necro. (Who just celebrated his 3rd birthday)
Goodbye Kentsui, hello Nethalia Graves !

The screen is from the last Beta, but she looks just the same.

I'm beginning to see the genius of the Mastery System. I'm rank 8, I did the story on my Warrior (main) and I am now picking up story achievements for alternative routes, and getting different backpieces from the different orders. Protip: when you get your vigil/whisper/priory backpiece, don't take it out of your inventory. I put mine in the bank and then the piece was not upgraded to higher tiers. The upgrade-backpiece reward takes place immediately so you cannot keep it in the bank if you want the upgrades.

It's really nice that Mastery is account bound. I feel like: The higher tier mastery things are nice and something to aim for, but I dont feel stressed like catching up, like I do in other games. "ohh great, 5 more levels. fuck this fucking shit".

In that sense I am really, really happy about the Mastery system. This is fantastic. But this is just the first step. I was telling in gchat, that I am positive they will rework gliding into central tyria as a Mastery.

Why not? I've heard from a lot of people how weird it is. And Gliding is not like mounts or flying mounts. They won't invalidate the gameplay space. Furthermore, the world is not build for gliding and doesn't have the deep verticallity or the updrifts of Maguuma. I dont think there will be that many places were people can break out of map. Some, I'm sure, but not as bad as real flying mounts.
Gliding is great because you still have to respect the ground. In WoW, you dont have to go to the ground and so the gameplay space is invalidated. Skipped content entirely.

What comes after Gliding in Central Tyria? Running on the surface of the water? boats? wall-jumping? mounts? riding sand dunes? boats? airships?

What's the endgame like? I'm someone who liked dungeons but disliked Fractals when they came out, leading to be quitting. I primarily play Necro. Seeing as I haven't played in awhile, is the expansion worth the dough? I also loved the leveling process.

I think it is too soon to discuss what the "endgame" is like, since the raids haven't released yet.
As for the expansion, I think you'll find that it is a pretty dividing experience, meaning that HoT isn't more of what GW2 was and offered. There is a pretty good thread on reddit discussing the differences between GW2 and the philosphy in HoT.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2...was_posted_when_guild_wars_2_originally_came/

It's pretty difficult to say if the expansion is "worth it", considering how different it is to the base game. If you like group play, meta-events that are hinging on the success of an entire maps coordinated efforts and have a good guild, then I'd say there is at least content that might interest you. Masteries aren't really content, but at least gliding is an interesting new mechanic.
Good thing that you dislike fractals, though, since they nerfed the rewards quite a bit.

In regards to professions (both the new class and the new subclasses), I would say that they do give a breath of fresh air to some of the old content. But if you weren't impressed with it then, I'm not sure if you will be now.

Is this order back piece something you get from the expansion story? Will my Rev miss out due to not having joined a faction yet?

This expansion really revamped the endgame. They are adding Raids which will be the true end game as it will be both difficult and also drop ingredients to create Legendary Armor. Fractals have also been really shaken up and you may like them better now depending on what turned you off before. What was it you didn't care for? Having to do multiple fractals per run? Or the Agony? The former is changed and you only do one fractal per run now but Agony is still a thing at higher levels.

They've also added Masteries which you can work towards only after hitting lvl 80 and there's new elite specializations to work towards on your toon that will really shake up how you play your character in most instances. The Necro for instance has the Reaper specialization and it plays really differently and looks pretty awesome. The specializations add a new trait line, weapon (and thus a few skills) and unique armor piece.

They've abandoned dungeons and are focusing on fractals and raids going forward.

They're abandoning dungeons :< They gimped the rewards to discourage people from farming them, and they are discontinuing support for them. They're focusing on fractals from here on as the "casual" instanced PvE content. The good news is they made fractals *way* more casual-player friendly, they're a lot easier than they were before even at high scales, and you only have to run one at a time now instead of 4 so it's a lot less of a time commitment. Raids are going to be the new challenging content but they aren't released yet so it's hard to say. A lot of people liked the single beta raid, so it's looking good.

I'm reading this ahead of missions on Saturday, but it seems they really messed it up.

Currently the way it is right now. Only the completing members of a guild mission get the reward. IE, If you activate a easy “win a match of x” PvP mission and queue with 5 guild teams, the first team to win gets the reward, others do not. Also happens in missions like Rush. Only the first 15 members to complete the rush get a reward. This being because the mission completes and closes after the minimum requirement is met.

As a guild leader I usually have 30+ people show up for guild mission night, and that is on a slow week. The current format does not support this level of participation as people would not be able to participate all at once, and it would take 2-6+ activations per mission to get everyone their rewards.

ArenaNet, these things are not guild missions. They are 5-15 man missions. "Guild Missions" do not have a cap on participation and permit an entire guild to participate together. I shouldn't have to break up a line of teams and have each one wait as the previous one completes the mission. This is an more of an exercise of admin than actual play time.

This is gonna be tedious.

Well that's annoying.

We can start those whenever for no cost now right? Maybe we can run some of the people through that are on more often tonight and/or tomorrow, then have those people just run escort on Saturday? It's annoying either way but might be a bit less tedious spreading it over a couple days of runs.

I say we put missions on hold and just do guild events in new map till they address those issues.
I agree with this. If people really want commendations we can accommodate, but oft he point is to have guild time we can make something happen. We could always make up an event in the guild hall or Halloween Labrynth.

Then again, you should ignore me as I'll be busy Halloween night.

From what I've been reading, it seems Fractals are fucked. What a shame, I was just getting into leveling it properly.

They seem to only be fucked if you were at the high end previously. I'm at level 16 and they are incredibly more fun and engaging than any previous group content in the game. My little group has been enjoying them hugely.

(In terms of rewards we ran levels 13 to 16 today, and got 2 ascended rings from doing that so they don't seem THAT bad).

PVE Guild Mission slot added (I fronted the Runestones and Ob Shards). Aaaaand it's another Rush.

Three guild rushes for missions hahaha

ANet just refunded our lost Influence we used when Mining Boost was broken. THANKS ANET

Maybe the PvE mission type changes each week?

i.e. three rushes for the difficulty levels isn't a coincidence

thinking about it now, based on our testing the funny thing is, Treks (which were outright useless before) might be the most inclusive type of Guild Mission there is now. Anyone who is on the map of a trek point when the point is captured seems to get credit.

I've been enjoying Fractals, think I'm level 13 now. I haven't had anything decent drop yet, though.

Ran two fractals with my bf on his undergeared thief and my reaper - so much more fun when you're few and you actually can see what is going on. :p
