Yeah, Naito mentioned it in guild chat earlier this week. If it's going to happen, the sooner the better. That way we can start earning influence properly.

Yep. Been running around with my own 2 man guild (with a friend). We've almost got enough to built the upgrade that will allow us to have a guild bank lol.

By my current prediction, that option will b eligible by the end of the year for us :p

Edit: Wait .. Guild chat? Naito? What's going on!

Well, I'm bored. :(

About every 10 levels (I'm "stuck" (mentally) at 70 right now), I get exponentially more bored. All the "groundbreaking" and "unique" features of the game are just simplified or streamlined versions of what we get in your average MMO. If anything it's dumbed down.

Honestly, I could see this coming from a couple beta weekends, but I'm sad I wasn't even able to max level a character before it happened.

At this point I'm only logging on to play alongside friends. Alone, it's terribly mind-numbing using the same exact skills that I've been using since I was low level.

Try Engineer, they have many kits that have 5 new skills each you can swap around when getting bored. Definitely the most varied class with least repetitious gameplay. It would probably be a pain to lvl up a new character tho.

So what do you guys think about this game? I plan on buying it today but am afraid it'll die like other MMO's that aren't WoW. Do you see it being a barren wasteland a month after?

If you tend to play alone, or stay out of guilds, it may feel a little dry for you, but it really comes alive when you have a buddy or two to run around with. I find that, easily, the best times I've had in the game so far is when I'm on Skype chatting with some friends while we wonder from place to place. Maybe exploring, maybe completing some random events, maybe doing nothing but randomly killing things while we talk.

The game has a very nice "adventuring" feel, IMO; you never feel too compelled to look for a progression path. You can basically do whatever you want and make good leveling progress, achievement progress, and make decent money. Since you're downleveled in lower-level zones, there's always a new zone you can go to and get good XP in, in case you want a change of scenery.

I can't see it dying, if only because it requires no subscriptions, and has no paywalls to any sort of content. Even the things that you can buy with cash (vanity pets, outfits, extra character slots, small XP bonuses which aren't at all necessary - the game's leveling pace is fine without)) can also be purchased by exchanging in-game currency.

Due to the lack of subscription fee there will always be people.

I love it because it's more action-paced than other games in the genre with the dodge roll and excellent hit detection. There is also a ceiling on stats (you go for ultra mega exotic rares to look better rather than be stronger). So if I don't care about looks I don't need to be too stressed out about not having the best gear.

The game also has a fuck ton more charm than other games, especially other MMOs. The NPC chatter always brings a smile on my face. Especially when non-human races are involved. I'm actually impressed by how the storytelling is infinitely better than the original Guild Wars. I know that there's a book out there that reveals some lore, but hearing bits and pieces from random npcs is so much more satisfying.

I have been super hesitant about this game ever since I committed the greatest mistake in life and purchased TOR. I just don't trust non-wow mmos anymore. Considering bioware's dirty, disgusting hands on this game, maybe I can put those fears to bed.

OK so I've still got the problem where the game constantly kicks me out after 30 seconds or so. I've changed my password, as suggested in this thread a bunch of pages ago.

The thing is, my whole internet connection dies - and it's only when I'm playing this game. I'll log in, select my character, log in, kill a couple of things until my skills just start flashing as if they're queueing for a few seconds, the error comes up (I forget what it is now) and my entire internet connection (on all devices connected) will drop for a little while.

Last night, this happened about 4 times. On the 4th time my internet was down until this morning. I could access my router (Virgin Media SuperHub), but it wouldn't go through to the net.

Going to call Virgin about it later, but this is incredibly infuriating.

I don't know if it's the cause of your GW2 grief, but that Virgin Superhub is a renowned POS, can you dump it for a while to test GW2 without it?

While I'm on the subject of routers, I found out last night that:
Guild Wars 2 requires TCP ports 80, 443, 6112 and port 6600 be fully unrestricted and accessible, both inbound and outbound.

Now I has Trading Post.

Edit: Wait .. Guild chat? Naito? What's going on!

All I know is that in the main GAF Guilds chat, he said there would be an announcement 'soon' about an EU guild. That was a couple of days ago now though.

I'm not sure why it's taking so long though, especially if it's definitely happening. Unless they're trying to work out who's going to run it, or even worse, if we should move server..

Would suck. I've moved like twice now :/
Oh well, here's hoping it happens
(And if not, be made aware of it so Splinter Guild can start, we're losing like 10 influences a day per player!)

About time, thankfully they are paying attention.
They need to fix Experience Survivor monthly Achievement, hopefully tonight.

I tried one in beta but I couldn't get into it. I might give it a shot, but yeah, I have pretty much no interest in leveling again at this point.

last night i decided to level my crafting a bit but i'm having a big problem finding Fine Crafting Materials. i needed bone shards for a karma recipe so i went over to guildhead.com and proceeded to spend 30 minutes farming the cave only to find one shard.

any tips on farming any of these materials?

damn dye prices are high now :/

I legit went to buy one random cheap dye to compliment the three I was throwing into the mystic forge yesterday and right before my eyes the prices jumped from 30c to 5s on everything that was cheap. Someone must have bought it all and resold.

Go up against humanoid enemies that drop bag sacks full of items. These sacks generally give out the crafting items related to their level. Can be easy to farm if you find a Centaur event that has a ton of enemies.

You could just trade instead now that the trading house is working.
Just play however you want and sell what you don't need.

Use the trading post. Earn more money by unloading the mats that you're crafting professions don't use.

Why are so many people selling things on the trading post for vendor price? Do they not realize they're actually losing money with the listing fees?

Probably since it's easy to just click sell then attempt to go back and sell it to a vendor.

So here's deal - on Saturday September 8th I will be doing a LEVEL 80 ORR MOB event with the Guild. We will be running through the Straits of Devastation all the way to the Temple of Balthazar. I figure this will be a good event for people to get into and really see what the karma vendors are like there.

Bullshit, I can't praise the Dolyak anymore? Armageddon will come for those that don't praise the Dolyak.

I need the easy karma, don't care about the exp.

Warrior is my main ATM, Elementalist is just lvl 2, but so far I'm not digging it, looks to be your standard mage (which is bad to say as Warrior is your standard face-punching guy).

I don't care for the Elementalist animations. I was hoping he'd be more... direct. Instead he just gestures into the sky for casting.

I completely agree with what you're saying. Same thing happened to my friend who is a 72 ranger. Part of it comes from burnout of playing ~70 hours in a week, but it also comes from the monotony of leveling.

If you can go to a zone that has DE's that chain through renowned hearts, or is just filled with DE's, the game gets infinitely better.

I totally agree with your second sentence. In the first areas I was running into DE's every few minutes. I could barely do hearts, but I'm seeing less events atm.

Ok guys, I know this was probably mentioned in here somewhere but going through 300+ pages will take a lot of time. My question is, is the anyway I can enable TXAA in this game? I just bought a shiny new GTX 670 and I would like to use one of the new features being touted. If not is there any way I can enable a better method of AA because this FXAA crap is making my picture quality shitty and it makes text look pretty fugly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just about every zone has one spot where multi-chained events are bunched together. Those are easily beaten quicker than a Dolyak can walk/respawn and will not drive you mad from boredom.

Same here, it also doesn't help that there's a lot less people at even the 40-50 zones (despite me being on Maguuma which is either high or full). I did an event where they were more friendly NPCs than people :/

i kinda wish that while skill challenges you could pop in and help others with theirs it wouldn't link my own with theirs. sometimes if you accidentally hit a skill enemy for another player and that enemy has like 1/10th of energy left you get the skill when it drops. I want to do my own and if someone is around to help they can but not affect theirs if they didn't do it.

Right at the beginning of the game a lot of people are figuring out what class they want to main. I see a lot of people still torn over what they want to play, and I can understand that.

Not at the moment. Considering even proper sli support for kepler cards isn't a priority right now I don't think we will see this for a while.

This part is just so weird, especially in PvE. If you aren't equipped for what's going on, you will be at a disadvantage, of course. You CAN however overcome that with skill if you're good. Combat feeling the same to you as it did at level 1 does not sound quite right; have you tried an area outside of your level range?

I've tried and nope - aside from larger health pools - i just disable Melee Attack Assist and run figure 8's through mobs. Also - what's the point of going to higher level content with down-leveling? Isn't it always supposed to provide a challenge? Isn't that the point?

Right there you're saying ANet hasn't done it's job properly if one should venture into higher level areas for at least some semblance of more unique combat scenarios.

I'll cite the Souls series again here - no matter what spells you equip, no matter what "build" you create, weapons, armor, etc - the games always present a challenge (Demon's more so than Dark, but meh) - because everything you do carries a consequence with it. This does have a drawback since mobs revolve on the same mechanics and you can take advantage of them quite easily (again, moreso in Dark) - the point being - it doesn't matter your build - you will always be presented with a challenge.

Then there's DEs - the meat and potatoes not-questing system. I loathe them. They're all very similar and they are all zerg fests. This is supposed to be the main attraction of PvE leveling... and it's quite boring and non-intuitive. "End game starts at 1" or "End game starts at 30". DE's are most certainly NOT as exciting as end-game content in other MMOs. They are just another form of questing that involves far more people than you'd like.

How am I supposed to experience meaningful combat if I can't see a boss due to so many spell effects from 20 other people zapping him? How am I supposed to know when to dodge, block, maneuver if you can never see a tell?

It's also hard trying to even kill anything as melee for credit since there's so many people downing stuff so fast - its impossible to move into position to get an attack off.

This is where range comes in handy in both situations - forcing me to play how i'd rather not on my Warrior at that moment.

I feel nothing when I contribute to an event. Nothing. I don't feel like i've helped. I feel like I have little to no impact on the event. Even if I drop my banners, rez, apply boons, deal damage. Nothing feels like a contribution. I might as well not even show up for them.

DE's are supposed to be the main attraction to non-dungeons... and instead of a fireworks show it's just some sparklers.

I found the game exciting in short spurts since I never got a character past 13 or so in BWEs... now that I have the whole thing to explore... nothing has changed so far even at higher levels. It's becoming far too repetitive and everything that was supposed to make the game feel special has been undercooked. Ideas that have a lot of missed opportunity are abound in GW2.

Yeah, I'm still at this point. Bouncing back and forth, feels like I've made a bunch of characters, and deleted them in still trying to figure out what the heck I want to main. The warrior is fun, but I'm just finding it a bit repetitious already, and I played Elementalist during the beta, and leveled a little last night with one, but I don't know. I keep thinking maybe Engineer would be a good fit because of all their tools and whatnot.... BAH! :(

I have a main (Ranger) but the other classes are still interesting enough to warrant creating a bunch of alts to test through. I'm going to try out an elementalist tonight because I'm intrigued by the dual dagger skillset.

WHY DO YOU HAVE NO RANGED OPTIONS

How are you playing Guild Wars 2 without ranged options at all? The game gives you two weapon sets for a reason.

Because you are supposed to have 1 melee and 1 ranged? You can't just play melee if you want? Or just ranged if you want?

Edit: Bring the player not the class... but make sure the player has X and Y options equipped!

Yeah I've got my engineer to lvl 44 or 45 and am quite bored with the repetition in PVE. The broken TP and borked WvW queues did not help with breaking the monotamy.

I loved thsi game in the BWE's, but like you I rolled many low level characters to try them all out, not realizing that it is the exact same experience for 80 levels. And the fact that by lvl 30 you could have your entire spec layout (if you plan ahead) makes the next 50 levels more painful without the carrot of unlocking something cool

I think one big problem is that you unlock your weapon skills so quickly and then don't get anything new ever. The 7-10 skills are OK but not very exciting either, and you unlock all of those by 30 anyway

I'm basically doing the same thing right now at level 48 that I was at level 6, and for warrior at least the one major difference is gun vs bow with melee being very similar whether its sword/shield, axe/axe or greatsword

The other thing is that the Hearts are incredibly dull to do, and they're just as stupid in the first zone as they are in the 40-50 ones. I'm still killing some select number of enemies or doing menial tasks. I was hoping that they would get more interesting or involved, but they really haven't. There have been more interesting DEs, but the vast majority are still the same thing.

Finally, I'm really disappointed by the zone variety. It's either woods/fields or snowy regions, with none of the enemies being that interesting. Really, I'm still fighting orcs and minotaurs? Maybe I've been spoiled by GW1 expansions, but I was hoping for desert, thick jungle, mountanous areas, cities/indoor environments, anything really. WoW, for example, had a nice variety of places that really felt unique, but here zones just blend into one another

I was getting that way with thief too.. so I just made myself use other weapons and try different trait builds. Experimented more with weapon swapping and self made combo fields.

I'm kinda in this boat as well. I'm a huge GW1 fan, played the hell out of it, and was anxiously awaiting this game. I played in all the betas, but not much cause I didn't want to spoil the leveling process. I've a level 30 ranger, while I haven't done any of the dungeons yet, I am starting to get a little bored. I have a Necro at level 5, and a thief, guardian and engineer all awaiting their turn. I'm hoping that there will be/is some sort of end game such as FoW or the Underworld, but I've not heard of anything yet. Maybe the leveing gets less monotonous with dungeons, but I feel like they lost some of the GW magic that occurred by only having 20 levels....

Right there you're saying ANet hasn't done it's job properly if one should venture into higher level areas for at least some semblance of more unique combat scenarios.
No I'm not. Plenty of people are having trouble in level 15-25 zones. Not everyone is as naturally good as you! If you're not finding a challenge, why not seek one? You sound like you're saying you're not even willing to investigate if ArenaNet has a challenge on offer for you at all.

Then there's DEs - the meat and potatoes not-questing system. I loathe them. They're all very similar and they are all zerg fests. This is supposed to be the main attraction of PvE leveling... and it's quite boring and non-intuitive.
Disagree but it's starting to sound like it doesn't matter, and maybe the game isn't just you. You can seek out events in underpopulated areas and even try and solo them if everything you experience is just that easy. But perhaps not worth the effort. You could be playing something you don't loathe. :-/

I think you'd find yourself having a better time deviating from your set build and experimenting a little. I was Greatsword/Rifle for a long time, then I switched to Hammer with some utility skills that give buffs, and I'm just cleaning house leaping all over the place and knocking things over/away.

Then I tried Bow, and I don't like it much, but I redid my traits to spec for bowstrings and burning damage etc.

Then I ran Axe/Mace, something I've never done. And it was great fun for a level or 2.

Experiment a bit, maybe that will help.

EDIT: ALSO sPvP is really fun if you haven't jumped in, especially because you can try a bunch of different builds. Chilling people whenever I switch to hammer, stacking bleeding with rifle from a distance..it's really fun and you get some pretty neat loot once in a while. The leveling curve is steep though.

Taking my time with the game to not burn out. Got several guildies who already hit 80 and been running pretty much through most of the major content. It's only been less than 2 weeks, they are likely going to be quitting soon as they have done this with so many other MMOs.

With no sub fee, I don't feel any pressure to level and will enjoy the game at my own pace. It made more sence with sub based MMO's since people wanted to get their sub fees worth before it ran out or to get through their free month.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - if the core gameplay doesn't appeal to you, there's not a whole lot that's going to fix that. If nothing else, you can try to mix things up with other classes and different builds (LOTS of build variety even within the same class) before you throw in the towel.

Me, between exploring, sPvP, occasional WvW, messing with different builds, and switching between different characters, I've had a grand ol' time. I did run into a bit of a roadblock at Bloodtide Coast (stupid explorer event that sends you wading neck-deep into HUGE PILES of enemies), but I just switched zones and continued on my merry way.

I'll say it again - Personal Story is probably one of the major draws of the game for me, and I constantly get up the courage to try to make my way through Orr to get to them - however, considering that the zones are incredibly tough solo, it's hard to complete maps like I have been doing before hitting up them.

The best part about personal story is that there's one for every level in 70 - 80, as opposed to one every three levels.
