Participated in the Shatterer event yesterday. We were way too low level, so sadly we didn't reap any rewards.
It was pretty crazy though, it feels like the entire server shows up to kill the bastard.

Also came across this scene of forbidden love in one of the beautiful caves around Valley Headland.

No, that is not what I meant. If I put 4xlvl 10 Sword do I have a chance of getting a better weapon lvl10-15? And does it have to be 4xSword, of e.g. 2xSword, a mace, and a scepter.

Yes it'll most likely roll 10-15 or maybe higher than 15 but definitely in that area.

From what I've observed, 4 swords = sword. If you have any mix the result will be completely random. So if you use swords save up your swords. If you end up with too many of one thing (i.e. you have 4 maces) and you don't want that then put 3 of those in and 1 other random thing and hope the result is a sword.

The game looks awesome! Love the pictures.

Is it fasted paced? Like does movement and dodging really play a part in combat? Same with PVP?

I hope this goes on sale or im going to be waiting a while to jump in and find out for myself lol

It can definitely be fast pace depending on your play style. Yes, movement is a huge part of the game. You'll have to dodge stuff in real time if you don't like dying in both PvE and PvP. It's worth full price IMO!

Hnnnngg, sounds great! And im sure its worth full price, just that im tight on money. But a sale thats 25 - 50% off might make me miss a phone payment to buy this lol

What eek5 said.

I've only put in 4x the same weapon.

And he's right, the TP is probably the best bet for upgrading gear. But I did it the first time last week before the TP was up and yesterday, I just happened to pick up 3x swords in about an hour so threw them all in with my equipped one.

Well the word on the grapevine is that there will be some form of official announcement regarding us EU folk from Naito, and it should be soonish.

However we've gotten to the point where we should have enough people on the server to just create out own splinter group.

So yeah don't change servers yet

Hm, all right, will have to see :d.
Anyone know when they will start charging for server transfers?

I think they're going to start charging once they get guest passes working. From what I've read on the matter, there will be plenty of notice of when free transfers will be ending but keep in mind that it doesn't mean you'll have enough time to transfer to your server of choice once they make the announcement since the server might end up being full.

So there's lots of interesting items you can buy at vendors after events that'll be great help in WvW. Like I just bought 10 charzookas. They don't do very much damage (300 per shot), but fire VERRRRY fast, and has a 1200 range. Will make it so I can actually get some nice ranged damage on keep seiges.

As a UKer, should I just transfer to the US GAF server to be in the guild there, or is there a decent reason not to?

Depends on how much you hate latency. The difference is very noticeable - it's still playable, but for me it was more than enough to deter me from staying on US. I'm also a UKer.

Man Naito should really announce something. At this rate we'll lose all our EU gaf members :/

Ehh, if we're gonna get some kind of UK guild then I'm happy to stay on EU servers - I just don't know anyone who plays or is likely to play GW2 and would like a bit of a community to play with etc

GTX8800 is a real trooper of a video card I guess, heh.
I upgraded from an 8800GT to a 7850 a week or so ago and the difference in visuals and performance is night and day. Very happy with how the game looks and runs now, if you have some extra money then definitely upgrade!

I have been thinking this type of thought ever since finding a vendor that sold the Golem in a Box. It doesn't fire very fast (similar to the animist bomber in DAoC), but it is 1600 range and damage is listed at 559 with a 120 radius. I've found 2 npc's that sell it, first for coin second for karma unfortunately I can't really remember where.

One is in Metrica, in front of a building somewhere in the south border of the map.

Ya except I just saw some stupid shit we did on our borderlands. We split, one group was attacking the JD quarry keep the other Hedge. THEN they split in two halves at the hedge keep.. one attack south gate and other north gate. Both gates had inadequate rams (1!). South gate got flanked, north gate got pushed out.

:| I was in that operation, I was in the North gate, when I said everyone should be on the NW gate, right now in points, HOD = JQ + SI

can't believe HOD is spanking JQ so bad, we are barely hanging on to 2nd place

So, any guardians who do sPvP care to share their top secret builds? These are my stats:

wfdlm.png

And my traits are 30/20/0/20/0 with emphasis on greatsword and fire damage. I use Greatsword and Scepter/Sword+Shield mainly.

I try not to stack too much of anything, going for balancing condition damage, toughness and a bit of vitality. I understand that it's ideal for competitive game purposes to stack as much of 1 thing as you can, mainly for damage or survivability, but I've had good success with this. I dish out good damage, and can jump in and out of groups due to my aegis and overall resits. Granted, I'm only level 6 or so but it worked fine during the BWEs too. It might be that my enemies are not that good as well.

I don't play too much of a support role, but I have enough CC to chase or defend and try to drain conditions from allies where I can. I just want to know what you guys are doing, maybe to try something different and why. Thanks in advance.

This seems like a really good balance. On the other hand you miss out on awesome stuff not hitting the end of the first or second trees. It's been really hard for me to nail down a solid build that does significant damage without falling over immediately. Though, the fact that i'm so torn on how to build might mean things are pretty balanced.

Same, although I'm on a US server for LOTRO, and it's perfectly fine lag-wise 99% of the time.

Oh yea, think if you go through that portal that takes you to poi in inquest building across the map then do DE there you can escort a group back through portal and one of the asura will become merchant. I seem to remember the karma cost not being worth it though, need to figure out where the ones for coin are.

If I'm not completely wrong (which I may be) he should be at the Hinterlabs somewhere. That's the one I meant initially.

Spent like 2 hours last night just exploring Gendarran Fields. Not even doing hearts, just running around, doing events and opening up the map. I was blown away by the level of detail in the architecture and landscape. Such a sense of place.

It was probably the most fun I've had yet, and I wasn't even really doing anything other than run around, mouth agape.

I do that all the time. First time I've had that urge since I first started Wow. This is a good thing. So many pretty areas.

Doing hearts is not very fun. I don't llike playing the game that way. I think it's counter-intuitive to the ideas of the events. I did events by myself last night as I was alone at 05 am. Some I couldnt complete by myself, but a few I managed to win by myself (by a hair though) and that was a great feeling. It was never wasted because I would still get a bronze/silver/gold medal, xp, karma and money if I fail an event. im not awarded for completion but participation. This makes it okay to fight and die against impossible odds.

the game says: no trial and error for you son. if you put in effort i will give you stuff. thats a great incentive to make me want to explore the world.

just doing the hearts. eww. the best hearts are those that are auto completed because your doing a related event nearby that interacts with that heart.

The game needs more events. more events so others can run more rarely, more events to make everything trigger less often.

another game update:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_status_updates

Last Night's Update
We largely resolved the capacity constraints with parties and guild functionality, which were causing symptoms such as party members not appearing on the map, parties not staying together as they travelled between maps, and guild manipulation not working. Note that, while capacity constraints are now addressed, there are still some specific issues we're working on with parties and guilds. In particular, there's an issue with parties not staying together as they travel into dungeons, which we plan to address tonight.
We fixed issues with the storyline steps "Fury of the Dead," "Grisly Shipment," and "In The Ruins."
We changed the downed mode camera to maintain a more consistent distance taking race into account.

The best events would be something like Hunter's quest for legendary bow in vanilla WoW - pure skill. I would love to have SP events with boss mechanics, maybe even teaching you some PvP or PvE principles.

WvW Queue question ... If I am in the Queue and I switch maps which puts me into an Overflow server, do I lose my spot in the Queue? Because you cannot enter WvW (or join a Queue) from an Overflow server...

This WvWvW matchup is too good to miss. We need to organize a GAF WvW for this weekend. I have blueprints saved up and ready to go!

I have some questions about AC Explorable Mode. How difficult is this at level 35? I see a lot of people waiting until level 80 to start doing the explorable modes. Would a full party of 35s have any issues? Also, someone mentioned that you earn tokens as a reward which can be used to buy the armor that is specific to that dungeon. Is the vendor inside the dungeon? Is the dungeon armor that you can buy with tokens a level 35 set or does it scale?

We have so many level 80 characters in the guild. What am I doing wrong to be at level 32? o_o

Nothing. Some of us have jobs and real life commitments and others just like to take their time and enjoy things at a slower pace.

I've been working so much overtime this month that I usually only get about 2-4 hours a night of GW2 during the week, if I'm lucky. Some nights I don't get on until after 9:30 p.m. and eventually I realize I don't really have time to get anything done and just log off. I make up for it on the weekends and have about as much time played as some people that are level 60+ but I'm still only level 36.

There is no reason to rush but I guess it does feel like you're getting left behind when there is a large number of players in the guild already at 80.

Just my opinion of course, but Human Tier 3 cultural looks amazing for thieves. AMAZING!

I have been drooling over this set ever since I stepped foot in Divinity's Reach. There are some pretty amazing looking armors you can buy with SPVP rewards too. You should check them out at the Lion's Arch vendors.

So, I'm an idiot. I've been using 3 skills that give me speed bonuses but never really actually noticed that I DONT MOVE FASTER. So, I thought maybe the trait was bugged. Nope....

Speed bonuses do not stack, even if passive!

So ya... gotta figure out which of my speed stuff to nix.

It would probably be OP if you could. For example, with a Thief you could get 25% bonus from signet, speed bonuses from sigils, quickness boons, traits that increase speed (e.g. 33% faster while stealthed), etc.

Some players' monthly achievements didn't correctly reset on September 1 at 00:00 GMT. To allow those players to collect the next monthly reward, we will reset the monthly achievement of any player who is already at 100% for the month as of tomorrow night's update.

If this means what I think it means, if you have completed the 100% September before tomorrow night's update, you get to get it AGAIN. So for the people who have been able to reset their stuff, you will be ahead of the curve of most anyone else.

I kind of wish hearts were not marked on the map or didn't exist at all. It would have encouraged exploration and made for a much more organic experience. It's too easy to just run from heart to heart while picking up any DEs along the way.

I also agree that some of the events repeat too often and too quickly. I remember reading that it would be rare to see a repeated event, at least for a long period of time, but that just hasn't been the case.

I hope this finally fixes entering dungeons with your party. The first time I ever did a dungeon it took us about 30 minutes just to get everyone into the same instance.

Yeah it isn't worded very well, it would be a good idea to get 100% if you can anyway. I'm one of those that it didn't reset for.

Are we putting together any GAF sPvP teams? My brother and I are very interested in joining up with some folk to learn and improve...I'm a Necro and he's a Thief. :p

Really hating Harathi Hinterlands. All centaur camps and lame mountain vistas.

Really LOVING Metrica Province. Might be one of the best designed starting areas from an aesthetic viewpoint.

Yeah, that's actually really cool :) A lot of times overflow chat is far more interesting than the regular stupid german ol' "lfm tank for AC", so I'm appreciating it as well.

Now if they only fix entering instances from overflow.

People aren't going to have to wait long. Stormbluff is full apparently anyway, so people can't join the rest of US GAF.

Yay! Progress.
Looking forward to some info.

Yep, I have like one guy I play with, but would be nice to have some form of 'community'

Duuuuude I'm in, I had a great time rolling with your brother.

He sent me a link to an engie build, I'm already obsessing over research.

We should hop onto a PvP channel on mumble, maybe that would attract some other gaffers to run with us.

I would be down but I don't think the group composition would be very good. I'm playing a Thief and wife is playing a Necro.

Thief + Thief + Necro + Necro + ????

Yeah....

Okay, everyone be honest, who in here has completed the full Meta Event chain tied to the Fire Elemental and who thought the reactor cleanup event and boss was the whole thing?
After the fire elemental is defeated, players that have located a Matrix Cube Key can infuse the key with *Fire via the golem. Also in the reactor area are jumping puzzles leading to *Earth and *Ice infusions. Lastly, a path beside a waterfall leads to a room where the *Water infusion can be obtained. With all four infusions, a player can interact with Master Control Panel Lin39, and open the nearby portal (in the floor in the glowing bluish area). In the next area, a button can be used to begin the [Group Event] Defeat the misplaced steam ogre.
Personally, I don't even have a "Matrix Cube Key," though I have fought the elemental three times. Can't wait to go back and do this sometime, sounds intense.
whats the pro and con of this?
Pros: No more annoying "area is ready" messages if you don't care about staying in the overflow for the moment
Cons: None
