How many world events spawn treasure chests in the world?

I know of the dragons in frostgorge, sparkfly and blazeridge.

Are there any other area's that spawn world bosses that drop treasure chests?

Metrica = Fire Elemental
Sylvari (sp?) starting zone = giant wyrm
Swamp zone (no idea) = Shadow Behemoth

There's likely more, but I don't know them. Someone also knows the names of the zones above I'm sure!

Have they acknowledged that 80% of world events are bugged? The higher level you are, the more events will bug out. No wonder people just zerg in Desolation all day, most of the events bug out and aren't completable.

This is something everyone seems to be ignoring too. I expect a few bugs in a new MMO, I don't expect the majority of content to be.

Btw, Ashodin, Hawkian, Parakeet, pyrandes...have you guys figured out what gear you'd like to buy eventually? Based on that, we could start doing more or less runs of certain dungeons so that we can get our tokens sooner rather than later. (I'd like to get my dungeon gear before doing Arah, personally)

I havent decided yet. Ill need to take a look and decide soonish. However, Ill prob want to get a Noble's set I think, so will be doing more CM explorable runs in the future for sure.

Like the look of this color, at least on heavy armor.

They seem to be ignoring most of the major bugs, or they're being extremely quiet to the community about them. I'd consider people's guilds disappearing and lack of permissions to be something that should be a priority issue but the huge thread on their bug forum hasn't had a single reply.

Pretty worrying to see the extent of their support and communication.

The longer I stayed in Orr, the more I wondered about something like this.

Heck, sometimes I even get the rewards for Dynamic Events even though I did absolutely nothing to contribute while in Orr and they still haven't fixed that.

Yeah there are several events on Gendarran Fields that are bugged out for days now. Not even a server restart in the night to fix that.
Also have by now seen at least half a dozen escort events that don't seem to work correctly. And I'm only level 40 with my highest character. Don't even want to know wants going on at higher levels.

Yea lot of zones have events that seem to get stuck all the time at some point. It seems like the events are getting worse with more breaking every day.

I'll check in again at a later date to compare, but I have to ask:

Do people feel this game has longevity?

Game's strengths? Weaknesses? (Flaws that could be fixed?)

Do you see yourself playing 3 months from now? A year? More than a year?

I'd especially like insight from people who have played other MMOs compared to those that haven't.

My MMO experience comes from a small bit of vanilla WoW, and a ton of Guild Wars Prophesies, so I'm not really an MMO veteran in any sense. That said, I feel like this game is delivering on the things that I disliked in the MMO genre, while still keeping the things I enjoyed from it as well.

I think it does have longevity, two weeks in and I still feel addicted to it. I'm almost at 80 and still have a ton of things to do. I want to dive deeper into PvP, finish the main story (which feels endless btw), get better gear, and play more WvW. The dungeons are incredibly challenging, so its a good feeling to know that I can only get better at them. Then there's new characters with different story paths, starting areas, classes, etc.

I do agree that the game suffers from a lack of direction at times, but once you get out and going you start to get back into the flow of things. Once I leave a town I usually get caught up in a bunch of dynamic events, heart quests, etc. My biggest complaint so far is that while the dungeons are challenging, there's a lack of communication on what strategy/role to fill. While I do find them getting easier as I level up, tweak my build, and learn the encounters, they can feel a bit cheap and unfair at times. I did CM explorable's Asura path the other day and it seemed totally ridiculous. There were so many ranged enemies crammed into corridors that it seemed totally impossible to pass it without dying. It led to a feeling of bashing my head against a wall until we finally got through, which is just tedious.

Yes I do see myself playing in 3 months forsure. I do expect to take short breaks during the big release season, but the good thing is that we don't have to worry about monthly fees. A year from now the game will probably be very different. If the GW1 release schedule is anything to follow, it won't be long before we see the first major content release.

Despite a couple downs here and there, the explorable really wasn't that hard. It certainly wasn't a cakewalk, but there was no point where we were close to giving up.

I need AC the most for the chest piece, oddly enough. Also need CoE for the gauntlets and maybe the helm

Just started it up this morning, thanks to the digital edition going back on sale yesterday. Quite impressed with the visual polish of the character creation process and the introductory story.

Going into this as blind as possible, to keep expectations in check, and since exploration of the game world and mechanics is always a major draw for me.

Biggest flaw is high level content being bugged as fuck. I hope Anet is on top of this because it really is quite unacceptable.

I second (or third, or whatever) this. This is the biggest flaw of the game IMO.

Roughly half the events I ran into from 40->80 were bugged. I am not even exaggerating.

It makes me wonder what all those stress tests were good for. Well, they never took the servers down, but still, this many bugged events? Really?

Well, I've been playing MMOs since forever - it's probably my favorite genre -, and I must say this is the first one that has really grabbed me since World of Warcraft. In terms of "recent" games: Tera had an interesting combat system, but was a complete bore; The Old Republic was cool in terms of cinematography, but didn't do anything new; Rift had great world events, but in the end the world itself felt too generic to me; Aion made me a bit angry because it didn't know whether it wanted to be Korean or Western; and Warhammer had lovely PvP but failed because of the low population.

Guild Wars 2 seems to draw the best out of those games (Rift's world events, Warhammer's group quests and PvP, Aion's interesting world, for example) and combine them in one solid package. And because of that, it feels different but familiar at the same time.

I will most definitely keep playing it even after coming back to WoW when MoP hits and beyond.

First, we do not have and will not be able to offer a service that restores a single character or a specific item. In the future we will be able to offer a service that will restore the entire account to a period close to the compromise incident.

Account Restorations are not available yet but should be available pretty soon. Do keep in mind that the entire account is “rolled-back” so any progress made while you wait or until the service is complete will be lost. I like people to know this so they realize the way the system works.

Hope they get it implemented soon :)

The game's biggest strength imo is how accessible it is:
-Level Scaling
-Dynamic Events
-sPVP/WvW is playable at any level
No more of that "real game starts at endgame" nonsense. I played WvW at level 10 and still made contributions to my team.

There are still parts of the game that are still in the "feeling it out" phase. WvW, for instance, hasn't even gotten to 2-week battles yet and will probably look different several months from now.

It's a very good thing they haven't done 2 weeks yet too. Wonder when they'll feel confident about matchups and population levels. Matchups are starting to look pretty close lately. Right now there's not much coordination, if the losing realms decided to actually fight against a common enemy (HoD) it'd be even more so. The "I must attack anyone I see" doesn't help.

Hell one point I walked up to some JQs (like 5) when both of us were losing BADLY in WvW. I tried to act friendly but nope.. KOS mode. Idiots.

Any advice on leveling armorsmith from 0 like what to craft, discovery, etc.

You said you didn't enjoy crafting, right? Better check a guide, there's some with the exact quantities of stuff you need. You'll need plenty of trophies, and bolts of jute/linen/silk, etc.

The best way is to make components and insignias and use the discovery pane to make plenty of the things that require the least materials, like helms and boots. Around lvl 375 you'll need some karma recipes for yellow insignias that require 15 of each trophy but give good exp, then you can salvage that yellow gear for ectoplasm too (used for crafting exotics). The best way to avoid being inefficient is to not craft extra stuff through the crafting pane, or make a lot of chest pieces and pants that eat up more materials than the rest. You'll probably need a couple of trips to the AH too, I think I spent 1g on extra materials to advance from 220-350. It's pretty straightforward if you just stick to discovering stuff.

DIscover everything, should be enough to keep you leveled up.

So make a bunch of insignias, helmet and boot components, and discover to 375?

You'll probably need to make some gloves/shoulders too, but it depends on how many different insignias you can make. Of course, remember that you can only discover something once, so 1 specific insignia will only work with boots components 1 time. There's also improved insignias for each tier that require more trophies than the basic ones.

anyone else think its bullshit that Norn, Char and Human have more than just a starting zone but Asuran an Slyv dont ?

Wow, I haven't had any time to play for like a week now.

Feel like I've fallen horribly behind.

Well, you've got 6 years + to catch up.

Can't believe I've been selling stuff on the Trading Post and not collecting my money. I assumed it was like eBay and you had to wait for people to purchase before it'd be added to your wallet.

Was surprised to collect 17 silver in one lump sum when I finally worked out where I'd gone wrong. Nice!

Level 14 with my Guardian now, could use some help in starting to sculpt my PVE levelling build.

I have trait points to spend now and I don't really know where to put them.

Heard spirit build has pretty good damage output?

Ranger != Ranged

Well, the axes are throwing axes, so that doesn't explain anything here.

Still have to give the Ranger class a fair chance. Got a Guardian to 40 and my Engineer is closing in to that point to. I guess Ranger is next.

That depends on how you look at it. My Warrior's ranged is awfully straight forward - but his melee weapon selection offers more depth.

My Ranger's ranged selection offers more depth than what is available as melee.

While any class can take on ranged/melee combat - they are designed with a specific direction in mind which is seen via weapon abilities. At least that's what I'm seeing in regards to class/weapon abilities.

There were elements of that in the HoD vs JQ vs ET match which was the closest anyone has gotten to taking down HoD.

I do hope ANet takes account that free transfers are still active with regards to these server matchups.

I meant the terminology, yes ranger can range. But "Ranger" doesn't mean range.
