you should share your discovery with the rest of the guild
Oh true that.

I don't know what implications this has, but you can avoid Kholer's multiple-grappling hook Scorpion get over here imma kill you attack by jumping at the right moment in addition to dodging. The window is way smaller but I did it multiple times. Pretty cool.

Question for all you rifle/grenade engineers out there

For those who don't know, they added some temporary Mystic Forge recipes to take prolific materials (and gold) out of the economy. As a result things like sticks of butter have went from 2c to 14c and rising. If you for some reason hoarded butter you should be rich.

Anyway, for a limited time you can craft a permanent portable Mystic Forge that takes up a single inventory slot.

vOmQ6.png

Recipe (into the Mystic Forge):

Step #1: Mystic Essence + Mystic Casing + Mystic Core + Mystic Tube = Mystic Forge Node (1 time use)

Step #2: Mystic Forge Node + Mystic Frame + Mystic Nexus + 50 Mystic Coins = Mystic Forge Conduit (permanent)

------------

None of this is soul/account bound so you can buy it all on the Trading Post. The components come from mystic chests (they're not locked) which you can create at the Mystic Forge also with recipes such as:

250 butter + 250 butter + 1 Glob of Ectoplasm + 1 Mystic Coin = Mystic Chest

250 soft wood + 250 soft wood + 1 Glob of Ectoplasm + 1 Mystic Coin = Mystic Chest

From the chest you get one of the mystic pieces along with a trophy worth 10s - 2g and/or shape changing tonic.

While cool, this is kind of lame. A good majority of people aren't max level, thus don't have the means to get this item. It kinda seems like a big deal. How "limited" is this item?

Yeah, it was taking us quite a bit to do it up until that part. I'm glad it's not supposed to take that long, that means it's probably just something on our end then.

It was the part...

Where you have to defend the guy you're following who is setting up three different turrets but there were nine elites. I was told there was supposed to only be three who come in three different waves.

well - if it took you 5 hours, something went terribly terribly wrong :p

a smooth run takes around 30 minutes. About the other part, the first wave has three enemies, the second four and the last one five I think.

Oh true that.

you can also hide behind the pillars (don't stand at the edge though) to avoid his attack. I've become pretty good at dodging it now, enough to solo him for a minute while the rest of the team comes running back.

What kinda recipes? Legendary weapon stuff? The exotic weapons needed to make them?

I play an Asura Engineer, and I really don't mind the quite simple and barebones story, but since i'm in the Priory quests some of them are just HORRIBLE TO PLAY !

I was Bitching the other day about the Battle of Claw Island, now I played one where
you are sent in Orr in a dream to get a glimpse of the future
and it was just boring, with the most annoying monsters I faced yet, and it just felt like it was never going to end ! Horrible pacing there !

The personal story completely blows after you join a faction. It's awful, lazy, and frustrating. Instead of putting effort into it they just throw thousands of enemies at you as you escort a person or try to escape from somewhere. It's garbage and incredibly disappointing.

The part in the Personal Story that really stood out for me was when my guy started explicitly saying "My Order". Its just incredibly lazy that they didn't both to record multiple lines for each order, and its just a small thing that makes me more and more disappointed by it.

Yeah, that one was one of the worst so far for me.

I'm starting to feel this way too. And it just feels incredibly lonely, since there is little reason for anyone to want to join you on your own story. I definitely preferred GW1's approach where everyone embarked on the same story, and I felt that GW1's stories were more memorable and fun to play through.

What's a mystic piece?

Nevermind, I think I get it. So for 500 butter I get a chest and with the chest I get a chance to get a piece of the permanent Mystic Forge.

Far less grating to the ears as well.

I think a lot of people are misreading it. The recipes for butter, wood, etc. are temporary. He never said that they wouldn't have recipes for mystic chests again in the future to potentially fix other overly supplied items...

My Asura personal story is way way better than the GW1 story.

As for doing it with others: you really need a group to play with that's close, so you can do each other's story missions.

I should start informing the people that join me for my story that there is no reason for them to join me.

Haha, I kid. I can see where you're coming from, but I still like having people join me, and sometimes it's cool to do it on my own as well.

My best memory is still doing that golem battle royale, where Ashodin and Hawkian were my tiny repair bots assisting me in battle.

I just joined an order and it's a bummer to hear this. Hopefully we'll see content like GW1's campaigns in the future.

I thought at that point the story would open up and you'd be completing missions throughout the world for your faction while keeping up with your personal story path and such. Basically, that your faction would be a new hub of story content.

Was very, very disappointed when that wasn't the case.

Thanks for the heads up Xelios, that is some clever stuff.

Can anyone explain this to me a bit? Female/male is obvious, and the classes. I don't know the race symbols and I assume weapons? on the bottom right? Dual wield, spear, shield?

Bottom left is race (Norn, Charr, Asura, Sylvari, Human) and bottom right is crafting skills (Weaponsmith, Huntsman, Armorsmith, Cook, Leatherworker, Artificer, Jeweler, Tailor).

From left to right it's Norn, Charr, Asura, Sylvari, and then human. The bottom right is crafting discipline chosen.
Most popular went weaponsmithing it seems.

edit: beaten

Bottom right is (primary) Crafting professions. Races are from left to right: Norn, Charr, Asura, Sylvari, Human.

Edit: twice beaten.

I think I need a new CPU or something. My computer dies in WvW. Drops down to like 10fps and I turned everything down to low for that mode. FML

Asura have best animations but armor looks pretty crappy on them...

Human's have the best looking ladies, bar the kpop faces.

Won all my tournament games yesterday, feels good. 5v5 is a lot better than hotjoin zergfest

So I'm pretty sure I've been hacked. I haven't played in about a week, and that was when I tried logging in and got an error, I figured it was just server problems, and everything was alright, but then I gained interest in the game again last night, and finally had some free time, so I try and log in, and it still gives me an error. But this morning now it's just saying "Incorrect password"...

Edit: and now I click on forgot my password, and get a "Not available". Am I screwed?

Edit 2: aaaaaaaaaand now it's working fine. Weird.

wow this game is overwhelming (not in a bad way)

so...is it supposed to be this hard to buy a weapon? Spent an hour wandering around the city trying to find someone to sell me weapons since I didnt notice on map that there is a special icon for a weaponsmith vs general merchant.

but I dont see any regular weapon merchants on the main city map, only karma weaponsmiths.

Am I missing one?

I really liked the early Personal story because it varied greatly based on choices you made during character creation and a few choices during missions. It actually felt like a Personal story.

But then all of that is thrown away for the gradual funneling towards an Order and then the war on Zhaitan. By the end it wasnt even my story anymore.

I would rather they kept the variety and choices and stopped it at level 30. Then also do stories for the Orders and the war on Zhaitan and have them all be completely separate.

That way in updates and expansions they can expand on them.

There are tons of generic weaponsmiths and armorsmiths you can talk to. They can sell equipment to you for cheap within your range. They are also scattered throughout many small outposts, towns, villages and camps all over the world.

I think you can also talk to a guard for guided directions.
