Patch day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am excite~

Ack! Better get in my nodes before the change!

Can't wait to see ALL the class changes. Especially Ranger!

From my understanding of the new Seasons, yes. Gold, silver, and bronze level based rewards.

Plz be good shit, plz be good shit, I pretty much got by obsidian armour in gw1 through predicting and getting dem zaishen keys.

I noticed they changed the animation for final thrust, why? They should have spent that time sorting out swords crappy auto animations.

I'm disappointed Anet decided to hold off on the new skills. Oh well, a little more testing never hurt anyone.

The "balance" pass they did will at least keep things interesting for a while. I'm pretty sure Ele's are OP now, and increasing healing on Warrior shouts will shake up the WvW meta, so that's always fun.

Bloodlust buff changes are much appreciated, though they still have it backwards. Giving a stat bonus + points per stomp is silly and doubles down on the biggest fundamental problem of the mode, which is coverage disparity. What they need to do is find a way to split those two up. Something where you either get points per stomp or a stat bonus. Make it a strategic decision to either fight with a stat advantage, or fight at a disadvantage and be rewarded with ppt.

Now that this matchup is over maybe I will dive into the PvE content for the first time since....Flame and Frost? Idk, i remember helping refugees or something. It's been quite a while. Might rep GAF and see what's up. That is if everyone doesn't hate me over there by now lol.

Did first story instance and tried the clock tower on my Norn, but I keep hitting the bottom of the stairs on the last stairs just before jumping in so I decided to give up and try tomorrow morning before work.

The thing going on in Kessex looks pretty neat.

I really wish they'd figure out a way to integrate such changes into their event system, though. Seeing areas completely different all of a sudden after a patch is just weird.

Put in an event sort of like the scarlet invasions, only more focused on a single area. After a certain number of events, a building gets destroyed, then the krait get pushed back or something. Carry that on for a week so people have a chance to experience it until it's all destroyed.

I'm guessing their event system doesn't support permanent destruction, but I really hope it's something they're working on.

Their event system can support it. Just pre-code the animations and secondary state and do something design wise to make sure players don't get their characters stuck or in the way. Remember Karka Island.

If we earn Gold, we are condemned.
If we stay Silver, we are damned!

I am the commander of hundreds of zerglings.
They ride my loot train.
How can I abandon them?
How would they rank
If I don't make it rain?

If we earn Gold, we are condemned.
If we stay Silver, we are damned!

SBI?
Can we condemn this realm to tragedy?
Pretend we do not feel that agony?
These innocents who shun that fate,
And PvDoor all night and day

SBI?
Can we try to golem rush once more?
Pretend they help when we go to war?
And should we try to grab supply
Then log off and say goodbye?

Must we lie?
How can we ever face our fellow men?
How can we ever face ourselves again?
Our fate belongs to Gold, we know
We began that trek long ago
We've earned our rank when rank was naught
We've earned karma with which our gear was bought

SBI? SBI?
Gold we're truly not!

And so Maguuma, your rank is true
Our placement rests well behind you!

SBI?
Silver is our spot!

I appreciate this post.

Patch is pretty underwhelming I have to say. Hasn't seemed to bring much traffic to this thread either and the guild wasn't really what'd you expect it to be on a big patch day. Guess it's at this point a fair few people are getting burnt out and taking a break from the game.

The skins are pretty mediocre though the shield and staff are nice. The rest are absolutely awful. The fact they're still behind the BL chests is ridiculous but at least you can buy them off the TP I suppose. I don't think it's exactly a positive when the best part of the patch is a QoL feature like condition floaters.

The Mesmer "overhaul" is pretty farcical. Mantras were garbage because of their cast time and those remain unchanged. A 240 radius for the AOE buff isn't exactly helping all that much. They buffed the Sceptor in a similar fashion - leaving auto-attack speed as is which was always the biggest problem with it in the first place. Other class changes are baffling to say the least. Shout Warriors got an unnecessary buff and Rangers appeared to have received nothing as usual.

I was just thinking that to myself as well. Honestly, I'm getting burnt by the lack of QoL. After a year we FINALLY get told what the traits exactly do outside of "some". The camera is still ignored too.
edit:game has also been crashing left and right. And can we please fucking finally get a grace period when you crash/dc during major events? getting put into overflow and losing all that time is pure bullshit. no way about it.

This patch also cycles around and sort of just feels like last year imo. So there's that too. I'll still finish the achievements cause they're easy.

I doubt you guys have even had a chance to finish all the new instances because they require that mini, yet you are already writing off the update.

Also Engis are great. Need more Engis in the guild for the Bomber Squad that I want to make.

I am still in the stages of "Make every class and see which one I like". :D Thief was fun but the Engi sounds like a different style.

Engineer was an unexpected favorite for me and will be my 4th 80 (at level 71). In terms of variety and complexity it really stands alone. It can be really overwhelming but there's also bound to be something you like.

I wonder if any of the new ground targeting options improve grenades a bit; with a gamepad it's already a lot more comfortable than a mouse but it might be worth trying.
Been looking forward to the Mad King's Clocktower jumping puzzle all year.
Was going for 100 wins, but decided to quit at 74 because my fingers were about to fall off. ;_;
Just noticed that, I'll go with wow. I got really good at it last year but I'm sure it will take me a while to get back into it again... didn't get to try last night.

This smells like GW1 'balance' patches that were not very helpful to the game. It looks like Izzy's meddling handiwork.

???

crashes? I havent had any crashes for a long time. I had a few DCs in dungeons and in one or two major WvW fights. thats a pretty i'll say.

Could someone fill me in on how I go about getting a set of Celestial armor?
Gather or buy crystals and refine them at skill point challenges.

buy recipes for each piece of armor you want to make. You also need to buy a recipe for making celestial insignias.

with the recipes bought and used on your crafter, you can make celestial insignias and then use them like normal insignia to craft armor. Note that each piece of armor takes half a stack of crystals to make.

To be honest, I'm taking a break until we hear about fractals. Maybe this Krait tower will be interesting though, so I'll keep an eye on that.

Im sad that they didnt update the Clocktower JP.
All that twitch memory came back to me after 2 tries and I reached the top easily :(

Last time I did it in my human character and now I did it on my Norn which was difficult because my Norn kept hitting his head on platforms above him which caused him to not complete his jumps.

Finally got it this morning. I'll probably try to do it once a day but there is so much to do so we will see. Haven't beat those Mad Realm champions yet.

Edit: I don't know what I want to say here. My desire to play has probably never been lower.
Hey man, it's probably a good thing... use this as an opportunity to take an actual break and get more into some other stuff. Then when something that legitimately interests you pops up you can hop back in.
Yurgh - so I'm looking at a month or longer due to the time limit on making charged quartz crystals? D:
I thought that some parts were actually buyable from the TP (besides quartz) but I guess not so it's definitely rate-limited. Looks like you could probably save a bit of gold by just buying the coat recipe and making the satchel to save on having to buy the rest of them, but that would take 5 more charged quartz total and you wouldn't get the pieces one by one to be able to use.

So it's 5 days for each new piece through the "no luck" method. If you have the home instance quartz crystal, it has a chance to give you a charged quartz outright, and I also suggest playing a few rounds of Sanctum Sprint whenever it's the daily activity since its chest has a chance for one as well. A little luck with those would reduce the total time a bit (obv. a day for each lucky drop).

Healing shouts now over 3k each, as I hoped. Never used Shrug It Off before; seems a bit wonky and requires further testing.

Ele staff buff appears to be all I imagined and more (superspeed!). Blasting staff notes on the tooltip are great. Still not confident in a lightning hammer pvp build, but I'll give it another shot.

Getting mailed a glory booster for reaching spvp lvl 20 is almost a slap in the face. It's the equivalent of mailing everyone a karma jug for reaching pve level 80.

Turns out all the ~changes~ to life siphon put it roughly at the same level it was before, which honestly sucks a bag of dicks. What's the point of manipulating numbers to arrive at the same result?

Deathly invigoration + transfusion, with reduced cd on wells, is pretty much the way to go for pvp support builds. For PVE content, minion masters should be okay. Stacking zerk shit needs to go.

New Halloween weapons are available for 1 Black Lion Weapon Ticket from Black Lion Weapon Specialists. Weapon tickets and ticket scraps can be found in Black Lion Chests.

So, I don't play often but managed to get my Guardian to 80. I have a couple hand fulls of these ticket scraps, and never bothered figuring out what to do with them. Where are Black Lion Weapon Specialists?

At the Trading Post in Lion's Arch. When you are inside take the stairs up to the balcony where Evon Ganshbalde is.

Thank you, still so much to learn and do in this game, they made it easy to solo to 80, now I need to really dig into the game.

Tell me about it. I just hit 80 and I'm overwhelmed by all the stuff I need to do. I've barely even touched most of the zones in the game, I haven't even seen half the dungeons.

I'm thinking I need to organize a gaf event for the weekend or something, I reallllllllly don't want to do all the mid-high levels zones completely alone for every heart/event. I wouldn't be able to do the group events, and running around alone for hours sucks.

I realized it was bull crap when I read the part of the patch notes where they nerfed one of the key traits to the build, the one that adds 50% more. The reason given for changing it was so that in combination with all the other skill and trait buffs, the amount healed is the same.

Which means all the changing done so that life leech can scale base off power and healing power was just done so they can say that they did it.

Well, the above was pessimistic me. Optimistic me hopes that this was done so they have another balance knob they can twist in the future. Rather than immediately jump to buffing life leech, they want to change the scaling and see if anyone discovers some crazy build or bug before continuing.

Gotta thank Hawkian for running around 2 servers with me last night. I finally got the achievement for Taidha and finished up my boss achievement list. Four different tries at her and finally it happened.

Still Rank 1 and I got one, does that make it worse?

You get one for reaching level 20, not rank 20.

You get a WXP one at level 15.

First few months of the game we used to do guild events where we wpuld go and get all the hearts, pois, vistas and skill points on 1 map and I think many people enjoyed that.

Looks like with the influx of returning and new players we should try doing that again because many of us who have played since day 1 have alts that they could bring to event or even thier mains of they just want to explore and help out.

As a guardian, I'm ok on the solo front, but I'm pretty sure I have no idea how to play a Guardian lol.. I've only done the last world dungeon and made it to only through 3 rooms. That's the extent of my dungeon crawling. I would love to run the low level dungeons but it would scale me down to the dungeons max level, making solo impossible, right?

Dungeons aren't really intended to be soloable. I mean, people can do it, but it's tough.

Why dont you use the LFG tool to find some groups?
I recommend doing Ascalon Catacombs, Citadel of Flame and Twilight Arbor as intro dungeons

Lunar, my lore buddy, what do you think of the Kessex Hills stuff?

The Krait must be really efficient if they were able to cut down all the trees overnight.

So from this point forward, everybody who personally attacks a member of the studio will get an immediate 2 week forum suspension on the first violation. Any further attack on studio members will result in a permanent termination of your posting rights.
