Nobody denies that Back to School flopped in execution. But the launch of SAB and the content that was there, was solid. I even know someone who even came back to GW2 after quitting just for SAB and then Back to School, and has now quit again until the return of SAB. I'd be silly for Anet to just scrap it all because of one mistake and a bunch of whiners.

Way more people care about beards than they do about SAB.

I find it funny that besides Miktar everyone else who likes SAB barely plays GW2 proper.

Silly for ANET not to scrap a mode that only people who quit GW2 like.

Well, count me among the whiners then.

Why does anyone who has a complaint have to be a whiner? I agree that many of the complaints against what is largely free content can be considered whining, but really, sometimes there's a reason for it.

I don't blame them for doing another SAB given the first one's success, but I think the ideas in the first one were so "instant reaction" rather than being well integrated and deeply tied to the core gameplay. It was neat for one go-around, but continuing it was really pushing the joke.

May as well scrap PvP and WvW then, since the majority only care about PvE. >..>

Obviously I'm kidding. And I don't really care if people didn't like SAB. I just liked it a lot m'self.

Why does anyone who has a complaint have to be a whiner?

I was talking more about the people who said the creators of SAB are horrible pathetic people, terrible designers, should just go kill themselves and their family, etc. Constructive criticism is not whining. There's a difference. When I talk about whiners, I'm talking about whiners, not people who have reasonable points to make. I don't know why everyone who has a valid complaint always thinks they're being called whiners.

Hey, it's cool to like it, enjoyment is subjective.

That being said, I really don't think we'll see SAB any time soon. Maybe sometime long in the future when people start asking about it again, but really, I think they've put it to rest after the last one.

On whiners: The word just gets thrown around a lot in this thread, by myself as well. It's just overused sometimes.

I know what you mean. Kind of like the word 'casual', used to describe anyone who isn't doing exactly what you think they should be doing.

But yeah. Anet has the stats on how many people played SAB, so they'll make the call. I just wonder what's the reality: a gimmick mode few people played, or a huge success with a large chunk of players who don't go on the internet to talk about how much they loved it, hence, silent majority.

RIP SAB.

The second world was a cash grab IMO, i understand they make money from the CS but they made it so difficult you needed the cash shop unlimited coin to do all the Achievement, after all my continue coins ran out i stop going into SaB, i know a few people from my old guild that did it with out the cash shop coin but it required a lot of grind through the first world so they could buy continue coins, i said fuck that...

SAB was huge. Way bigger than beards. Even the missteps on difficulty in World 2 don't change that.

And who's quit playing GW2?

And who's quit playing GW2?

Nobody important. Someone I used to play with a lot since launch, stopped playing after a while because the Living World didn't interest them - and then they returned for SAB because they thought it was awesome, played it like crazy, and was super-excited to see all 8 worlds. They even enjoyed Back to School, for all its faults, and are eagerly awaiting the next installment. I don't have the heart to tell him. Granted, this person has over 3k hours in Dota 2, so it was a doomed relationship from the start.

Oh that wasn't a genuine question. I'm pretty sure Kos was taking a shot at how I don't log in often anymore. But I mean, I have to split my time between my PC games, my PS3 and my PS4 (that's in perfect working condition) so can you blame me? :D

I like to reread this Eurogamer review every now and again, because damn if it doesn't exemplify why I love GW2.

Everyone wins.

Is that fair? Did you earn it? Who cares? It's more fun - and just as importantly, it's more social. You're rewarded for helping others, because many hands make light work. And the result is that in Guild Wars 2's world of Tyria, those wary queues of self-interested souls don't exist. In their place are happy, noisy scrums of players, digital flash mobs coalescing and dispersing around dynamic events: an army of adventurers fighting together for the common good. Isn't this what massively multiplayer gaming is supposed to be like?

One small change; one giant, wonderful result. Next to the libertarian work ethic espoused by most of these games, Guild Wars 2 is practically a socialist utopia. The needs of the one and the many are aligned, and the awful tension between solo and group play that plagues most MMOs disappears in a puff of goodwill.

It's also a pretty fair review; not all superlatives. Its correctly explains how and why the personal story is disappointing on the whole, and also explains that the lack of the holy trinity leads to clumsy dungeon design and confusing combat, which is a common refrain.

I don't think Anet would scrap something as big and popular as SAB because of World 2. It would be like them canceling Halloween 2014 because Halloween 2013 was criticized more. I could see them do something as simple as reward and difficulty balance sans World 3. A save/password feature and a fix to the bauble counts would be great.

Edit: But then again, it would have been datamined already.

well, warrior is certainly not a class of patience. was not meant to be, i mean, guardians outlive the enemy, warriors kill their enemies.

elementalists burst the shit out of their enemies, as other profession do.

we also got more tactical oriented professions.

not wanting to put limitations, but, thats how they work, more or less, if vanilla.

my favorite one is still the guardian, i just play the warrior because the guardian is not much a traveler class.

Or they're like me, in a perpetual state of not knowing wtf is going on.

Eh, how do you learn if you never ask questions? That's another thing I wish I could beat into the gaming populace's head: just because you know something doesn't mean it's common knowledge. Hell, even my beginner's tips assume you know the basics of MMOs, which when you get down to it can be like learning the ropes of a completely different (and alarmingly xenophobic) culture.

Also, good luck today!

I'm actually checking the prices, and seems like only the warhorn got a price hike. I'm curious though, since more people will be doing the Arah story, doesn't it mean the prices will drop since many people will get the tokens?

I saw a post on Reddit about it and noticed that they're all in the 2-5g range except the warhorn. I remember them all being cheaper than that, and only expect them to go up. After all, the only way I know of to get them is completing the personal story, and you only get to pick one.

I find it funny that besides Miktar everyone else who likes SAB barely plays GW2 proper.

As much as Kos seems to hate SAB, it's important to note that SAB is probably the single most unique piece of content in the genre's 18? year history? I cannot name an update in another MMO that is anywhere close to multiple levels of jumping puzzles wrapped in 8 bit mechanics.

I was never a fan, but I certainly won't doubt this.

As for it being a cash grab... not so sure on that one. I mean, yes, the gem store team did implement some stuff that was a little iffy. But hearing from the lead developer on the issue, who seems like an extremely genuine dude, they had no idea what the gem store team was going to implement, and it basically came down to him getting a little overzealous with the platforming side. He beat himself up a lot over it, and not all of it was justified, really. I'll always feel kind of bad about how that all went down.

I'm the kind of guy that thinks that when there's a lot of complaining, there is merit to the complaint to some degree. Doesn't mean they're right, it just means that there is an issue somewhere. However, the one thing I'll never tolerate is outright attacking developers. It's despicable and cowardly, given that the devs are (well, were) pretty transparent and out there with their comments and answers while we're all anonymous.

I never liked Sab mainly cause I felt it controlled poorly and was just a silly grind fest and the combat sucked and the lag ruined it >_<

The only good thing was the Asuraness of it, cause god knows they dont get any love in the 'living' story.

Happy to be of service. Like I said yesterday, I'm always down for Story Dungeons. The rewards might not be amazing and there are some with a few dicey spots in terms of difficulty, but they're (almost) always a good time.

That was a solid group, competent in terms of damage but not so cocky that they didn't ask when they didn't know something (in my experience, players are usually too afraid to admit they don't know something for fear of ridicule).

EXCELLENT DUNGEON, A++++++++++, would run COF Story with again!!!.

Thanks! Your puns are, dare I say it, well done.

Now the only story dungeon I haven't done is CoE.

I wonder if it's straightforward.

So, SBI. You guys have a pretty solid strategy in EB, I see. I bet it's called "show up with a billion people and cause everyone to have 2 minute skill lag and 1 frame per second if not lower gameplay".

Seriously, that was hardcore. I took that screenshot RIGHT as I felt the blob coming in, and 2 minutes later, I got a new frame where I and everyone around me was dead. Nothing in between.

Maybe it's just me coming from T1 but that isn't bad, looks like two 35-40 man groups fighting. Turn down your settings and you'll be alright, your screen shot is too pretty :p Just be thankful you don't have three 80 man map blobs fighting over SMC, I remember that bs from season one wvw.

The monthly only seems to require 2 tasks this month

It's because of the Feature Pack in the middle of the month. It'll combine the PvE and PvP daily and monthlies, but they wanted people to still be able to get their laurels in case they were too busy in the second half of the month when their monthly achievement progress would reset.
