So, crazy theory time, and why the Queen's Pavilion might actually be meta-gaming the farmers
The Queen's Stand
The Aetherblade have reprogrammed the Watchknights to create a private army, which they quickly use to take over almost all of Divinity's Reach. Only the Upper City's gardens and Royal Palace remain in the hands of the Seraph. From this staging ground, the Queen bravely makes her stand, rallying the city guard, the heroic festival-goers and the citizens of Humanity's last refuge to take back their home.
So, why do I think this is possible?
First, the Pavilion itself is identical to Divinity's Reach:
In two weeks, the player base is going to know what bosses spawn where and how to fight them. The players are being trained to fight a much larger battle, and to know where they need to go quickly when events pop up. The center of the Pavilion mirrors the Garden and Palace, both of which are 'safe zones'.
The fact that ArenaNet hasn't pulled back the gobs of rewards makes me think they want players to stay down there and learn.
Second, we're consistently hearing "There's too much going on in this small space" and "The fights feel claustrophobic". Maybe because they were designed for a much larger area, like an entire city? Spread out into each of the various sections of the city, the fights and frame rate would drastically improve.
Third, like Humans have been pushed back constantly, and Braham even makes a comment about 'humans being at the end of their rope' and the Jubilee being a show of power. The Jubilee itself is supposed to be all about "the enduring human spirit".. well, here's a
real chance to prove it.
I was thinking that the preview for next week even sort of hints at this;
There aren't any searchlights in the city currently, and they feel very "World War 2"-ish, like they're scanning the sky for Aetherblade Airships on the prowl, and the Balloons which were once for ferrying delegates are now for ferrying troops in and civilians out.
Basically, I'm envisioning a block-by-block, street-by-street fight to recapture the city, with escort quests (help citizens get to balloons), Aetherblade and Watchknights pushing into regions and being pushed back out by players, bosses spawn, etc. Almost like the Turf Wars in GTA: San Andreas or Saint's Row... or even a mini PVE WvW.
It benefits the farmers as well; the more of the city they control, the less ground they have to cover to farm.
Obviously a crazy theory, but it would basically be ArenaNet saying "We're not afraid to do some crazy stuff in this game" on the one-year anniversary of it's launch... Just had the idea jump into my head today, and though I doubt it's true, it would be kinda cool.
