Well, I was planning on trying out frostgorge tonight. Oh well. Loading times do seem a bit better though.
If the drops aren't there, then that means they're going to tune them soon.
Heh, I can see how Hawkian is peeved about Dulfy's weapon drop information. It's very generic but the information that's fed to Dulfy is equally generic so that's what's being regurgitated. At least our folks in GAF are better informed so something like "drops from CoF P1 end boss" would equate to something like whatever family the effigy is in and the corresponding loot bag.
The new Orr farm is crazy good atm. There's the normal champs you can find(shark, rotbeard, the baron/baroness, giant, etc), but there's also 2 event chains that spawn a TON of champs if you have lots of players(scales up). 1 is the Jofast escort and Pent defense(both sides of the tunnel). 2 is an event on the SW corner where you lead a group from meddlers to another camp; this results in ~8 champs along the way and leads up to an event...with over 30 champs that spawn(champion fire bird things lol).
This may be bugged atm on SoR, but we keep intentionally failing them and they are resetting SUPER fast; basically requiring you to empty your bags every 5 minutes lol.

Frostgorge is pretty good if you can find a world that does Fish > Kodan > Norn > Drake > Wurm/Troll. You alternate Wurm and Troll because Wurm is slower to respawn. It's cost a little bit to wp but you make more anyway with the bag and loot. It is really crazy, you have no time to rest because it's 5 champions in 3-4 minutes. I tried to guest earlier on a few servers but one of them had a bad timing and the other were kinda, we don't care.

Rough cliffs notes of this sample: For Gilded Strongboxes, every 100 boxes you get roughly 2-3 rares, 8-10 cores or lodestones, 1-2 exotics, one champion skin, and 15-16 scrolls of knowledge. Cores are 7 times more likely to drop than lodestones.

Other data on reddit seems to reflect an equal chance for each type of core and a 1% drop rate (1 per 100) champ skins of any type.
The skins confirmed to be associated with Gilded Strongboxes are: Crystal Guardian, Scepter of the Highborn, Shiverstone, Cobalt, Monsoon, Combustion, Genesis
Not quite relevant to the discussion here, but does anybody have an idea as to what just happened to my computer? As I was fighting Liadri, it suddenly just started tab targeting like crazy between the boss and her visions. When I died thanks to that mess, my chat channels started switching and scrolling like mad as well. I restarted GW2 and had the same problems and same bad fight, and then my desktop icons started being tab targeted as well.
I was fighting Liadri on low settings to keep my fps high, but it does seem my my keyboard suffered some convulsions there. I'm running some scans now.

Seems like the tab key is just stuck. I would get some compressed air, unplug the keyboard, and give it a good cleaning. It's the simplest first fix attempt anyway. Sucks it happened vs Liadri though. Awful timing.
Ugh, we had that tower tricked out in NSP BL, but in the end we were left without a zerg to cover us and we just couldn't hold out long against those kind of unchecked numbers.
Still, it was awesome keeping it while we had it.
Thanks for reminding me, I need to put some more money into the Mumble account, I think we're covered up through September but I'd rather know for sure.
And yeah, stuff like that is essential to a strong guild; without it, people don't feel like they're on the best foot or have all the tools they need to get maximum enjoyment out of the experience. We like having you guys to play with, and god knows we use it enough just to chat about the game, so it's worth the $9 or whatever a month to have Mumble to keep GAFGuild strong.

I tossed about 2g into the pot for that tower. It's all good in the hood
I think there are free mumble server hosts, but they tend to be low quality, unreliable and have low caps on users. Ferny has us on a decent host that only needs a reset once a month or so. It's been remarkably solid, and I think we have a 50 person cap.
I'll find the link for the donations page, but honestly this is something the officers can swing on our own to make the guild stronger. It's never been a problem since we like having it and it makes our job easier. No worries, it's our gift to the guild, since you guys collectively put up with our puns, scientific experiments, rants about Dulfy, etc. and keep the guild active so we can get big things like missions done for the benefit of all.

Aquila, I'm glad it was an easy fix. Stuff going wrong during a game is rage-inducing. Way back when, it took me 2 days to get my pc working enough to finish the final 5 minutes of HL2. I had no problems up to that point, but I had to swap my GPU with my friends to finish the final sequence. It was awful. Congrats on the mini!

I had no problems up to that point, but I had to swap my GPU with my friends to finish the final sequence. It was awful. Congrats on the mini!

Unfortunately, the Mumble server isn't run on gems. And I don't think there's enough interest to rent out a PvP server.
What are the benefits of joining the GAF guild without representing? Is it pretty much just a chat room?
I always make a guild just for me, my wife and some family/friends. Had it since launch and it's really useful for banners and guild vault stuff.
Seems useful for WvW? Never been one for actual guild stuff but interested in checking it out.

You won't be able to see guild chat when you aren't representing, or get the buffs we run. That said, there would be no problem if you wanted to join and rep your family guild most of the time and popped over to the GAF side for missions and grouping sometimes. The same goes for your wife and friends too, actually. We don't have any rules about repping.
Ok thanks. I'll throw someone in the OP in game mail if I remember next time I'm on. It seems a bit strange people that don't represent don't see the guild chat, then the only purpose to being in multiple guilds is to juggle them? Did this system seem more useful in beta or am I misremembering that?
The purpose of multiple guilds is to belong to different groups without excluding another. I know a lot of GAFers switch over to the Official Stormbluff Isle guild "SBI" when they do WvW so they look like a unified force and their guild chat can be used for crucial communication. I have a small family guild (just my brothers, my wife and I) that's used for banking, mostly. Because of the 500-member cap, I'm also in GAFO, the Overflow Guild from launch...
It's there so you can have different groups of friends if you want. It's a nice, convenient feature.
Maybe eventually! Would be fun for scrimmages. I know a fair few would contribute if someone wanted to consider one.
This is the case for a few bag types. The Embroidered Coin Purse from Pirates and the one from Bandits don't stack either. However, while not totally positive, this looks to be an item code discrepancy (similar to when dungeon Jugs of Karma didn't stack with the ones from monthlies) rather than an indicator of different contents. Most types- Deluxe Gear Boxes, Gilded Strongboxes, Shell Pouches, etc. stack regardless of what they dropped from.
It's actually entirely useless for me. I would never represent because I only ever play with my wife and she would never join, so while playing I'd always want to represent my guild to continue to advance the guild that has actual uses to me. I thought you could see chat without representing.

Whatever new way they put in to acquire this buff will more than likely involve the big lake in the center of the map. Doesn't sound like it'll involve taking a keep, either. That doesn't really fall in with the "relatively easy to take from a better server" line.

no more quaggans is nice. It was really pointless and really didn't affect anything except the middle quaggans
That's the fault of them removing the mechanic. If you ever talked to the WvW Tutorial guide he'll tell you about all the things the Quaggans were supposed to do. Now instead you just have the center for the camp/keep reinforcements (free money) and the storm generators that send a single lightning bolt every once in a while.
At least the storm generators can be used to put a keep under attack if the lightning bolt hits an NPC, giving you an actually sneaky way of disabling keep waypoints. Unless they removed that too.
We got dredge as the last fractal. Fun times. Anyway, I got the Utility Backpack from both the Gatekeeper and the end boss in the Ascalonian (Searing) fractal so both were human. Nothing in em worth reporting. On dredge I got a Delux Gear Box from the last actual dredge boss before the final room (sergent something I think, the one that spawns tons of dredge). We drew the ice boss for the final one and he just had the standard box. Again, no drops worth noting.
On the wiki it had Utility Backpack only designated to champs on the Ascalonian Fractal. But we all know that wiki hasn't been super reliable lately.
Hmm. Where else can we find a human champion that isn't a pirate or bandit...

I can't think of any Human enemies that aren't bandits or pirates out in the world. Maybe a dungeon though. CM maybe?

And "polishing the hell out of this game" is putting it mildly. When was the last time you played?
I honestly don't even remember. The last several months have had me off of my PC, unfortunately. But time has finally freed up. Winter/Spring?
XP wise or something similar? Ultima Online and EVE Online do but those are more full on character progression than XP. In both of those games crafting is the main aspect of the game if you want it to be, your entire character is built around crafting while in GW2 it's supplemental to everything else.
i like that's its actually useful for leveling, but outside that, it's not very. you really can't sell much from it above cost. cooking seems to be the one to make money, but i'm not sure 100% cause i've never tried.
between crafting and queen's pav. easy time leveling up an alt right now.
