Right, it replaces it "while going berserk." When you aren't Berserk you still have your old burst skills, and Proven's note is saying that you don't have the old skills at all if your are a Berserker.

Ah, re-reading it you're right. I was probably in that mindset because I had just read a reddit thread complaining about the Chronomancer. Basically, the elite specializations are of two types. Type A are those that replace your profession mechanic completely (i.e. Reaper, Dragon Hunter) while Type B are those that are an addition and in some ways just a sixth trait line (i.e. Chronomancer, Tempest, Herald). When I read the ZAM article, my first impression was that it was a Type A because of the combination of Primal Burst Skills becoming your F1 in Berserk, and the fact that you needed a certain level of adrenaline to even enter Berserk.

Personally, I prefer Type A. Outside of Chronomancer, those are the ones that impress me the most and I admire them a bit more for having a cost associated with their usage.

Good chance we'll get a BWE2 then, along with the fact that if they're revealing challenging content then we're well on our way to the final month or two before release.

Then again, they also have three more Elite Specializations to reveal, and the longer they take to reveal them then the less beta time they'll get at this rate.

Proving once again that Datamined Info ≠ Confirmed Info. Seeing people rage about Ele Warhorn because sword was datamined at one point has to be one of the dumbest examples of "but ArenaNet promised!" I've witnessed.

I think people would've been disappointed by warhorn regardless, and if it were the other way around (datamined warhorn, confirmed sword) I don't think people would've been upset... it's just that warhorns are not nearly as cool as swords :p Warhorn doesn't really fill a niche that anyone was hoping for and focus is probably still going to be better. Elementalist mains wanted a mainhand weapon with a decent autoattack, sword could've potentially filled that role but they got the doot doot instead. :(

While I hope we'll get another elite specialization at all, I seriously doubt we'll get another one within the living world updates. They seem like an expansion only content, and I feel like we'll be waiting another three years for another one.

That said, today I'm going to work on my guardian fan elite spec and post it to Reddit. (Huh, auto complete wants to put "idiot" :p)

I don't think there will be another BWE until all specs are revealed since they DO all need testing and feedback. Either BWE2 will be sooner than the other specs are revealed and then a BWE3 or BWE2 is coming in Sept.

At this point, they absolutely cannot afford to keep redoing systems for the game. The systems they have now/HoT have touched on pretty much everything I can think of that really needed something. The game is so drastically different from what it was at launch that they now just need to focus on content, more elite specs, and more masteries. Don't get me wrong, they can still do at least 1 feature pack a year to add new ones, but I don't think they need to revamp old ones at this point. We will absolutely see more elite specs and masteries with the LS because if they don't, people are going to eat them alive. There's no way in hell we'll go 3 years until the next expansion, only reason that happened this time is because development on it probably didn't start until late S1.

Gonna miss the perma-fury though, but we'll see....

Run Opportunist.

The Sword burst skill (Flurry) is an immobilize, as is Longbow #5 (Pin Down).

You could combine it with Leg Specialist too.

The third hit on the Sword auto chain (Hamstring) is a cripple, as is the Sword #2 (Savage Leap).

Along with For Great Justice! and/or Signet of Rage, that's more Fury than you can really use.

I imagine you're going for something like this build. 91% crit chance with Sword skills on bleeding foes.

I'm leaning on there being a BWE3 honestly. Having an extra BWE to go back to the current specializations that were just tested and rebalanced, plus throwing in the extra Berserker and Herald sounds like it'll be the most helpful for them. I just don't know how much work goes into setting up and running a BWE, so I can't really make an informed estimate. Pre-launch was there a BWE once a month or once every six weeks? Plus there's the extra issue of preparing for the convention that also cuts into BWE prep time.

I also agree about them needing to finally get into full content mode but I don't know much faster things will actually go. Will they aim for yearly expansions? That would involve putting out a single Living Story episode before each expansion and feels breakneck, but would mirror other MMOs and give them something to show off every year. An expansion every two years feels more reasonable from a work speed expectation, with 1-2 Living Story episodes in between, but they'll need to keep their event frequency up instead of having it dropped in the face of getting the expansion out this year. Queen's Pavilion, Dragon Bash, and the Zephyrites were all supposed to be used to provide content during the early and mid parts of the year, leaving the end of the year to Halloween and Christmas. Super Adventure Box will need to make a return if only to appease everyone that bought an Infinite Continue Coin.

Get out of my head, Charles. Except for one trait (I'm still using Shrug it Off) and the runes (still using Trooper runes) that's it exactly (the shouts are in the wrong order though, and I don't have all the Sinister Trinkets yet).

I'm just set in my ways and like having that reliable Fury on Axe 4. I'll get over it.

I'm still hoping that the Living Story teams have been working on stuff this entire time, building up a bunch of episodes in advance so that they they're not right up against deadlines. I know it's greedy as hell, but I miss having updates every two weeks for months at a time. I'd absolutely lose my shit if they shipped HoT and then brought the entire company to bear, pounding out a a bunch of top-notch Living Story episodes.

I've never liked the expansion model and I hope HoT is just them sorting things out in a big way before they hunker down and kick the Living Story into high gear.

I'm just set in my ways and like having that reliable Fury on Axe 4. I'll get over it.

I feel like Opportunist will be a lot more reliable.

On a single target, Axe 4 only gives six seconds of Fury on a 12 second cooldown. If you miss, or the target blocks/evades, you get no Fury and have a 12 second wait. The attack itself is also nothing overly powerful, so you don't pick up anything damage-wise by using it over your autoattack stacking bleeds.

Opportunist is 10 seconds of Fury on a 10 second cooldown, and it procs on any "successful" immobilize (it even procs on enemies immune to immobilize). You will have frequent opportunities with Longbow 5 and the Sword burst/autoattack/leap to activate it rapidly off of cooldown.

For Great Justice! is also giving 8 seconds of Fury on a 20 second cooldown, so I don't see any situation where you aren't keeping 100% Fury uptime. FGJ is easily covering any second or two it takes between Opportunist coming off cooldown and you activating again with your other skills.

Likely the PAX Prime stuff would give us a hint at to what's after Heart of Thorns.

I'm 95% sure they gave an interview where they said they weren't going to talk about anything until HoT is released because that's all they're focused on.

Edit: Yep.
USgamer: Can we expect the same pace for Living World content updates?

Kristen [Bornemann, Development Director] We['re] definitely not talking about anything after the expansion right now. I will say it's a baton that is being handed to the expansion. We will be supporting the game after launch. How that looks we'll be talking about later. (source)

I feel like Opportunist will be a lot more reliable.

Yeah, I should have said "on demand" rather than "reliable," but you're right either way. Like I said; stuck in my ways.

The article leaves me wanting to play warrior again after growing bored with it after the nerfage. That's probably one of the main intentions of the elite specs, so woot. Even more so, I want to play the Norn Warrior again, not just the Asura. Bonus points for that.

Main hand torch would've been the coolest, but this isn't too shabby. Glad Wild Blow and some other old skills are making it into GW2, even if they are totally different. Yay GW1.

Has there been much discussion on the timeline? I just realized that they could likely hand wave the wait time for the expansion away by taking advantage of the fact that people will complete it in days; i.e. in the lore it'll have taken from the end of Living Story S2 to about a month after the expansion launches for the events of the expansion to complete.

Pretty sure they've said that HoT's story begins immediately after the end of Season 2. I believe you literally head into Maguuma after sorting out everything in the Golden Cave.

In an ideal world they'd release content updates as soon as two weeks after launch; get people caught off guard by the pace of the updates again (this time, playable at any time like season 2, lots of "too much to do" complaints, which are never really complaints).

Once again, thanks for the aether run, so that now I have all the achievements. Around 40 mins for that path is impressive lol. Made me feel a bit more ease with that path.XD

I want Elona as long as Joko already killed his dragon so then we have to go after Joko

This is the only way it should go. I'll honestly be upset if it doesn't. It'd be such an awesome tie in to GW1, too.

Huh really. Maybe they'll talk about core world updates (bosses!?) then?

I'm hoping for some serious AI overhaul throughout the base game. All that work they did on the AI systems for HoT should spill over into the base game, IMO.

This Type A/Type B talk has me thinking of druid. The earlier mention of rangers getting staff would lead to druid falling into Type A. Replacing their profession mechanic would kind of fit with the datamined "aspect" stuff.

Hey guys, saw this posted on reddit a few days ago. Decided to order it, and it already arrived. Legit sale, lol. Pick it up if you have the spare cash: http://flash.newegg.com/Product/9SIA8R434H7648

Thanks, I grabbed one of these since I moved my Steelseries H over to my new console setup. Haven't decided whether I'll figure out some way to route a third input for my PC all the way over there or get a new set of higher end headphones just for my PC but this should hold me over until I figure it out.

a little preview of what I've been workin' on

YHTHpag.png

Hmmm.

Guardians will already have longbow at this point, so why another ranged option? Your basic concept turns the professions' defensive passives into offensive weapons as well. Why not something like Off-hand Mace to really sell the me aggressive nature? Give it that iconic "battle cleric" look?

"Spectre" is kind of an odd name as well, it implies something phantasmal or ethereal... great name if this was a Guardian stealth thing, but with the more aggressive context something like "Harbinger" or "Vanguard" fits what it sounds like you're attempting, at least to me.

Since PAX Prime is in a week, here's one last check... is anyone else going (that I don't already know about)? If so... you should speak to Hawkian or Retro ASAP :3

Is there room in the GAF Guild?

If so, can I be added please.

My name is: thecreepingmess.1089

Thanks!
