I wonder if there will be a sign-up for the beta, or how it will be done.

Also, those wings.. don't really look too great. And they can't be coloured, so they'll never substitute my Dwayna wings on my guardian. <3

I am with Hedge those wings ain't all that, I not a fan of huge BP my fav BP is still the Fractal Capacitor, simple and beautiful at the same time, still can't believe i put 500 ectos in that sucker lol..

Yeah, put me firmly in the no wings camp, they're a bit too big, don't really fit the game's style or universe and of course, they will be everywhere...

Now, as a hang glider skin, hell yes...

This weeks Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns deep dive is only for special people who make videos about Guild Wars 2 on youtube. The rest of the player base can suck it, till next Tuesday.

Thanks, Anet.

The cape retort in The Incredibles is stilted as fuck.

The Cape truly symbolize what GW1 was all about, GW2 really is nothing like GW1, if i want to shows off GaF logo i gotta buy that FUGLY armor or stupid fucking BP, while i don't think the cape works well with the BP, IMO the cape should be in WvW at least...

pls bro. don't ask for my help when your cape gets stuck and a karka eats you

she made a retort about superheroes who could probably break free from the capes or resist the physics that strangled them in the first place. I'm pretending she just made up those events.

would you want to show off you're part of Gaf guild? O:

it's a joke pls don't remove

Defiance week, I guess.
The new Defiance “bar” or Breakbar as it will be known, displays just underneath a creatures’ health bar. If you use a crowd control skill, a portion of the bar will be removed. Unfortunately for players the Breakbar will also regenerate quickly over time meaning gradual use of crowd control skills won’t eat away fast enough to break the creature: you’ll need to spike your skills.

Now Blind is part of the single bar and we’ve had to look at how long blind durations are or stun durations are and how much more powerful is a blind over a stun.

If this is retroactive, Lupi would be so done.

Say, there are non-Dominion tengu right? I recall that one tengu npc (now relocated without dialog) saying he can't understand the tengu from the Wall.

This dye list change is cool but will make me unable to do anything but buy dyes until I'm done. I had almost let go of the "need them all!" feeling since they were pretty invisible and I didn't miss the colors. Now that they are in there, taunting me, I will have to get them all...

I had written off that helmet but I like it here.
Thanks! I almost never use covering headgear since I put so much work into the faces and like to see them. But I felt someone needed a helmet, felt Emmet was a good candidate and so I went through the stuff I had. To my surprise I liked the look of that one with the armor even tho I'm not a big fan of it most of the times I see it on others.

Ten Ton Hammer: Will players clearly know how much their crowd control skill directly affects a specific portion of the Defiance bar?

Jon: The old system was one of 20 buffs a creature could have whereas the new system is its own thing and is really clear. We’re still working on the user interface and the one people will see at PAX East and Rezzed is not the final one. We’re going to add more clarity to it and you’ll see that in the moment, you cast a Blind spell and you’ll see the bar move. In that way, it becomes really clear to see how much your crowd control is doing. Really visualising how much your crowd control skill is doing against the breakbar was really super important.

Ten Ton Hammer: Does Defiance only affect creatures?

Jon: There are player skills that use this and although I can’t tell you about any of them right now because I don’t want to spoil stuff - specializations, revenant stuff - because the system is straightforward and cool we have the ability to attach it to players too. You’re going to see places where you’ll see more of this happening. We tend to use it on the player skills in more specific than the standard way on Champions. It’s not just limited to specialisations or Revenants but there’s other places where we’re also using this.

Kevin: He’s in a few different places in the expansion and what’s cool about that guy is that he gets exponentially harder the smaller the area he is in, because he cuts so much of the ground. There’s a few different difficulties with the same creature in different areas. We have him on some smaller platforms that are much more difficult to fight him on.

Jon: What makes him significantly different to other world bosses generally is that he’s very active. Tequatl or the Wurm, or Shatterer and Claw of Jormag are more set pieces. They’re visually impressive and they have some interesting elements to their fights. This guy is like an action boss and you have to fight him like you would fight a boss in a console action game.

Kevin: Everybody has to be paying attention to their positions or you won’t succeed.

H-Hey GuildGAF..!

I want to buy this game today. But I wanna know if you guys are active here because you play or just hang out in the thread? I'm trying to get a sense of the playbase in the game before I buy it.

Also, for those of you who play, which region/etc are you on?

lol! this is a great post, I hope you do join us. We all play on NA, on Stormbluff Isle (which functionally only matters for WvW)

The guild is quite active, I saw a 41 person roster on at an offpeak time last week. We're active here too cause we're cool like that, but there are some active guildies that never post or that don't even have gaf accounts.

There will be a rather huge activity spike whenever the expansion hits, which is still unannounced, but it's going to be geared toward high-level players in many ways so you picked a great time to jump in and get up to speed

edit: I only want those wings for my revenant one day but you're damn right I want them. you may direct all future hate to the backsides of said wings

I'm not a role-player by any means, but when they added Drytop to the game I thought it would just be wrong to be wearing full plate armor in that kind of environment. Thus, my warrior;

J2or7HV.jpg

Will probably switch to a mix of Vigil and Phalanx when we get into more jungle areas, those both of a nice leather quality to them that makes them look less like full plate as well.

Interview about Defiance & Wyvren.

Sounds like it'll work more or less how I imagined it; Defiance will be a constantly regenerating energy and in order for a control ability to 'work' you have to drain the bar completely. I want to see it in action, but it sounds like a welcome change from the huge number of defiant stacks they used to have.

Since they're going back and adding this to all bosses, I wonder if this is one of the reasons they didn't revamp more dungeons than just AC. It stands to reason that they've been working on this for a while, if they knew they were going to make this major change to bosses, there would have been no reason to mess with them in the mean time.

Interesting.

I do this already anyways, dyes are one of those things I'm nitpicky as hell about not having.

Some clunky interview answers. Almost makes it sound like minor control - blind/vuln will be counterproductive, and I doubt that's the case.

The Zerk meta stuff is weird. I can't see this defiance making a difference. If they want to discourage that--they apparently dont--just give mobs stronger cleaves, make dodge an actual dodge based on location and not 2 seconds of god mod, raise passive damages from mobs, and the like.

Random speculation - Eles & icebow 5 lose some universal appeal, warriors & guardians start carrying hammers as secondary weapons on some paths.

So once the defiance bar is down to zero if you keep using CC it will stay zero or does it automatically get filled after the first CC?

Zerk meta now and forever.

You have lots to choose from.

Unlike female heavies.

In their case you'd better hope you like boob armor.

The vast majority of female heavy armour looks appalling and out of proportion. So much so that Tommy Haass had a sex change a few weeks back.

After som skin talking in the chat, I found the site gw2armor.com which looks like it'll help quite a bit. Not entirely up to date but works. Any other sites out there? The wiki is a bit cumbersome in comparison.

You know you can just use the in-game wardrobe function? It's the easiest and best way - half the armour you see will look terrible on your actual character.

Blind is a CC effect and a condition, Vuln is only a condition so it has no effect on defiance.

Defiance is not the reason why Zerker meta is popular so changing defiance alone wasn't going to do a thing. In any case, no matter what change comes a new META will simply raise up.

Just to add you seem to be missing the point of guild wars 2 combat system. It wasn't designed to be a full action game combat system. It was designed to be a HYBRID that is why dodge rolls gives you god mod, it minimizes the effect lag plays in combat. Arenanet wasn't trying to go all in with its combat system.

Finally, you speculation seems a wrong. Eles still provide the maximum amount of dps and might potential. Most people use Ice bow for skill #4 not #5. The new defiance system simply makes it obvious what how much definace a boss current has and it gives more value to CC by giving champs a stun phase.

Charr animations do not receive enough praise. Between Asura and Charr, I've found it harder to play humanoids. My Charr swings her weapons like she's mad at them. She dodges like she is trying to crash through a wall.. Good stuff. I had planned to make a Sylvari Rev, but not so sure now.

In the interview, the zerk meta quesiton was raised. It seemed odd to me as I couldn't see it having any impact. Better AI and mobs closer to players own abilities is what could offer a chance at changing things up. I'm not sure I ever stated what I believed the intention was. Not my interest. All I know is what is, and that is currently a bit too easy overall due to some silly little things.

There's a couple of dungeon of bosses that are often cheesed with deep freeze, provided no one triggers early. Most zerk groups will then melt whatever before the duration is up. Its the primary reason I grab my ele for AC/CoE these days. If a mobs start with a big ole bar of defiance that's out. Can't say I'll mind. I want old content to be challenging again, and closing a lot of these little tricks couldn't hurt.

Invited a friend to come along on a scale 50 GAFractal, she sadly disconnected early on Snowblind. From there on, Ike, Miktar, Moondrop and me did everything, including finishing the Snowblind fractal, 4 manning Dredge and Jade Maw.

Never thought I would do a 4 man scale 50 run, but it happened.

Considering this is a topic about defiance why would they go beyond the scope? Also why would ARenanet announce months in advance that they are actively trying to completely undermine berserker stat set? That would mess with the market.

Finally, the fact that they havent talked about something doesn't mean it is not coming. They didn't talk about the AI but anybody that has been paying attention knows that they have been working with an AI specialist. We also know that in a few weeks the AI Specialist that is consulting along with Mike Lewis of Arenanet are going to be given a speech about AI system, but since they didn't talk about AI during a Defiance interview that must mean no new AI. The point being Arenanet rarely ever IF ever except this past friday go beyond the scope of an interview.

Made my first character and her dye looks like shit, but I guess it doesn't matter much in the beginning?

I always like chars with good design but if I can fix it later on as I get new gear then whatever. But dye isn't gear depended, right? If I get new gear the dye theme will stay the same?
