Was doing teq earlier and ended being wiped out by a tidal wave, haven't seen one of those since the early days, who fails battery defence nowadays. To be fair, the guys doing it said the timer was bugged, not sure, I see people leaving defences around the 20 second mark, complacency more like it.

i wish there was also a third GAFractal group that runs during EU evenings because when i am on most people do not want to do one and even if there are people who are willing to run one, it never amounts to a full GAF group , so eventually i just stopped asking for one .

Because of that , i haven't done a full fractal run in nearly 2 months.
(FTR , i am not blaming you guys or anything , i can't change the time difference between NA and EU regions) but asking for a Fractal run and always getting no answer eventually got a little depressing :).

God this patch is so screw up. Quite a few bugs and crap, especially in guild. I ended up crashing when I was trying to fix the guild chat problem (switching status to offline and then back to online again). And to think this patch was delayed already. Least I enjoying some first person and a nicer over the shoulder view through.

What time of day typically for NA? I'd love to run Thorgal.

On EU evenings I'd be interested in doing more Fractals, and last time we did one with Minamu and his GF, they also expressed their interest in doing more of them.

Might be something we can look into ;)

Just started this with my daughter, any helpful starter tips?

The best way to play is to explore. I recommend exploring all the races starting zones. Even though your level gets "scaled down" you still get xp and loot and money for the real level you are.

You can access the main city by clicking on the PvP icon in the top of the screen and go to the PvP Lobby (heart of the mists) - When you get there, there is a portal that takes you to Lions Arch the biggest central city. that city has portals to all the other races cities and their beginning zones.

It's all about exploring and doing cool events that pop up. So its different from other MMOs in that you can walk around and it seems like nothing is going on. If you see a Heart Quest, you can do that. When its done, talk to the NPC and use the Karma currency you collect in the game (for doing various things) to buy armor, accessories, and weapons. Don't save your Karma for lvl 80. You get lots at Karma at lvl 80, so its not worth saving.

Go to a NPC merchant (on the map they are marked as 3 gold coins) and buy 4 bags that can hold 5 items. When you have enough money, visit the trading post and buy 4 bags that can hold 8-10 items.
When you go to the NPC merchant buy some Basic Salvage Kits. Always have 3-4 of these in your inventory. Basically you should Salvage the low level items(grey, white, blue) that you cant use. They give you crafting materials As well as something called Luck. You consume Luck which improves your Magic Find %, and Magic Find is what increases your chance to get more rare items from monster drops.

When your inventory is full click in the top left corner (deposit to bank storage) and all the crafting materials magically transfer to your bank so you dont have to physically visit it. Some items won't though.

Green and Yellow (rare) items are often worth either using yourself or selling at the trading post.

When you salvage or equip an item or a dye, it unlocks for your entire account. One of the way they monotize in the game is that you can get these transmutation charges. they allow you to change your armor/weapon appearance to that of another item. You will get them throughout playing the game, the living story, doing dailies, exploring areas 100% (you get rewards for doing that). Don't worry about the cool gear until your lvl 80. You change gear so quickly and level so quickly you better wait with that. But its fun to collect dyes and gear as you level.

There are a lot of really really cheap dyes you can buy at trading posts, and its always free to dye your armor in many different colors in individual layers. That is a lot of fun and great to collect!

Always buy harvesting tools from Merchant - Axe, Pick and Loging tools. Every time you run around the world and cut trees and mine ore, you get as much xp as you get for killing. they yield materials, xp and minerals and sometimes they are required for daily rewards, so mine, harvest and cut everything you find.

you can fast travel around the world to the places you have discovered by pressing M and going to that place!

if you want to play with your daughter in your personal storyline (every race has a different story) you need to go to your options menus and allow each other to play in other peoples personal stories. you also need to be grouped.

It's a good idea to add each other to your friends list. the game runs on a unified mega server, and its easier for the game to remember you should always be in the same version of the game when you are on your friends list. You can equip that by pressing Y.

Jumping Puzzles are a lot of fun! Try them if you find them! Many are well hidden! Dungeons unlock at around lvl 35, you can press B to enter massive World vs World warfare. you get scaled to lvl 80, but your armor and weapons are not really comparable to the others running around so you might want to wait.
The PvP lobby adds some really fun game modes as well if you are interested in PvP.

Should you see another player being offensive cursing, in the chat, just right click and report. its quite effective. same goes if you get a message or mail from a gold seller. right click and report.

All your money, karma, unlocked equipment, crafting materials all share the same wallet. so if you get 2 gold on character A, your other characters can access that money. That makes it easy to play several different characters because you are working towards unlocking across the entire account. that is really nice. Feel free to try many characters.

If you want to test how a character plays at higher level, do the intro tutorial, and then go to the PvP lobby, where all your skills, and traits are unlocked. then you can test all the weapons, how they function.

If you make a character you like but want to change the way they look you can buy hair style kits or total make over kits so you can change the character. Anything but race or class can be changed! there are also new faces and hairstyles only in these kits.

You will find Black Lion Boxes in the world which can just opened with black lion keys. these contain various items, and you need to purchase keys with real money - Don't do it! Just ignore them. they are not worth it. you will find a few keys while playing the game though. Just don't bother with the black lion keys. they contain various fluff items and sometimes a rare piece for a weapon skin.

Good luck:D

I would be interested in making a C fractal team, I have been stuck at lvl 22 since a year ago and I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE. Few to no one is interested in that lvl range. Each time I fully pug it I get the grawl fractal and it seem pug are unable to do it.

Also with fractal mastery coming, my OCD need to complete it before the mastery update drop.

I'm stuck at level 26 but I never have time to play long enough to do fractals. I shall be stuck there forever.

People keep saying it's looking different/uglier but it's still looking like it always did for me :S Green name, white text.
Or am I missing some sort of joke?

The bubbles over your head show green text, both when you use say chat and party chat. They used to show black text since the bubble is white.

I felt this deserved some attention.

Now this, is why I love GAF Guild.

As for the draft, I'm 100% okay with the rosters. You gave it some damn serious thought.

Listed second on the B team.

I know I was crap tonight, but I didn't think it would drop me that far.

Excuse me, you mean, "A Team". We all saw Zeroth last night.

I really think it's a damn good split.

Just started this with my daughter, any helpful starter tips?

Take it slow, have fun, don't feel like getting to 80 is the "point", and explore! Do whatever seems interesting, and if you discover something new, try it just to see what it is (like PvP or Dungeons). If you have any questions, people in GAF guild chat might be able to help more promptly.

I would be interested in making a C fractal team.

If you're interested, why not run the third team? You can always message anyone from the current two teams for advice. There's just one caveat. Might want to consider the 'peak teams' for the people you're considering (or who ask to join). You want to find at least two hours where you can all be on.

I'm stuck at level 26 but I never have time to play long enough to do fractals. I shall be stuck there forever.

Even thought we're pretty good at Fractals, our teams still take an hour and a half, 45 minutes if a good day, on average. Unlike the quick 15 minute romp of regular dungeons, Fractals do take much longer and require more time. I'm not sure if it's a problem or not yet, it does lock people out who can't dedicate that much in an evening. I think they're worth it thought.

Finally got around to sorting out 2015′s Guild Wars 2 photos. They’re not as nice as the original set from the last two years, since they’re less about environment and more about action or scenes. But it's only March, so who knows. First-person view is a game-changer :p

I see it as "the team Zeroth knows needs my heals" and "the team Zeroth trusts to stand alone." Just kidding; Zeroth so sweet and thoughtful.

I would like to open recruiting for a new era in GAF gimmick dungeon runs: first person, no user interface (1PNUI). Mumble preferred. Hope y'all didn't run so many last night you're already sick of them.

I would actually be curious to try that, but man, grenades are /out/ I think. Gonna have to make a build just for it, and without build templates, poopy. :p And of course, we will have to record it for the luls.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

What happened...hard-drive failure?

A mistake when handling the backup. I thought there was another backup, but there wasn't. (Needed the portable drive for something else, briefly. The online backup was deleted a while back due to changes in policies at the host).

Agreed, Zeroth is pretty cool putting together high level teams. It's been a pleasure running fractals with y'all, even if I can't always be there after reset.

Bought myself a shadow skin , but only gonna keep it to sell once the gold price skyrockets .

Also looks like Guiuld chat is broke again , not sure if we will be able to do our fractal runs like this .

Yeah, all of the shadow weapons Revenants can use are going to be in demand. Greatsword probably will be too since Necromancers are getting them. Seems like those would all be sound investments.

Personally I think the shield is the coolest of the bunch.

So on reddit there is datamining into leaked revenant legends, skills, and an elite. I know we should be reserving judgment, but everything we've seen of revenant screams that it will be massively OP at first. The new legends suggest revenant will be great at condi, support, and tanking- only direct damage is up in the air.

I'll spoiler tag discussion of specific potential weapon skills:
- Dagger offhand has what appears to be a block that grants quickness on a 12 or 18 sec CD. Damn.
- Shield cleanses and heals. Damn.
- Staff has an AoE taunt on a 20 sec CD. Damn.
- Staff has a 600-range multihit, AoE or linear knockback with a a 25 sec CD. Damn.

One more interesting note not worth spoiling- on the datamined Superior Rune of the Revenant, the 4th and 6th bonuses are not visible but the rest are Divinity-esque all stat boosts. So perhaps Revenant will make great use of Celestial gear.

Yes I know Revenants will have an energy management system, but it does not appear to be particularly restrictive. And the energy system will presumably have no impact on the short weapon skill CDs or minor traits like gaining stability on dodge roll (!).

And yes I know that the existing professions may see some revamped skills unrelated to their specializations. But if the stability changes are any indication, I would not expect any overhauls.

To be clear, I am not complaining. It doesn't bother me if revenants are OP; I'll be rolling one like everyone else. But everything we've seen suggests they will be absolutely dominant.

Leave it to reddit to call datamined stuff that isn't even finished "lame" and "proof that anet doesn't know how to balance classes" and etc.

I'm like, new to the game. Got my first character to 50 just now. I have a question: what do I do when I have boss aggro in dungeons? Atm my current gameplan involves dying in a few hits. I was wondering if there was maybe a second option.

Do I just run and hide behind stuff until he focuses on someone else?

A lot of the damage in this game can be avoided by dodging. Learn the tells for the attacks that give you trouble and dodge when you need to. Detailed info on each path is here: http://gw2dungeons.net

What class are you playing as? Each one has quite a few different methods of survival depending on the situation.

Engineer.

And I'm talking about normal hits, not telegraphed attacks. Like the dungeon mobs just pewpew me to death.

Shrink into an adorable Engineer with Elixir S! If still getting aggro then use the "toss elixir S" skill on yourself for invisibility! Proceed to lose all aggro.

Note: I haven't played Engineer in a long long time and both of those skills are by default on 60 second cooldowns.
