Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- |OT| - Cross Play on a Heavy Day

her movement is a bit more unique so that adds to her curve a bit, but with a good bit of effort it is easy to overcome and reap power from. she is a fantastic character with a barrier for sure but it isnt a steep one. stick with her, hold your L's and improve. she is straight up a top char in this version of the game, and unless major overhauls to YRC happen in the next version (which is entirely possible mind you) she will stay that way

I'm fine with her movement now I'm kinda adjusted to her, it was only way back when in XX I wanted to play her but at that time struggled with her movement but Zato's neutral game in Xrd swayed me to him like a sweat sweat siren playing a tune....

Plus I've watched HOURS of Hasegawa and OSCA films starting before Xrd released on consoles so I guess I'm committed to I-no...
I-No has the best idle animation.

oh yea the guitar tuning? it's so cool

Thanks for helping me process that.

If Eddie gets hurt, how does that affect his meter? I haven't really paid attention thus far.

Eddie can only take one hit before dying. When Eddie's meter depletes by having him out too long or from if he dies, they both take roughly 8-10 seconds for him to be available. The revival time is the same regardless of how much remaining meter you had with Eddie.

Edit: That's because Zato got hit instead of Eddie. Eddie disappears when Zato is hit, but you can resummon him right away.
rhapsody what region do you live/play in?

SoCal. Roughly under an hour East of LA.

Ah, thank you! So many answered questions tonight. I feel prepared for another day of getting kicked around tomorrow.

Been a long time since I was heavy into fighting games. Pretty much skipped last gen due to school/career... Anyway I'm working through the Trials and my old ass on 5 is getting kicked. There literally seems to be a frame or 2 between passing or failing after confirming the hit where Sol feathers off the ground but still gets the full combo causing you to fail. Any tips? Have got B Rank enough times but... That S Rank.

Amazing tutorials and systems for new players and I'm not really complaining, I know I still need a lot of practice but damn, too fast and some other move will get thrown out and too slow and fail. I've been able to do 6 fine.

Ok. Damn I have a lot to learn.

Edit. So that was my first match against a stranger lol. I think I try to play this game like it's Street fighter.. It doesn't work lol.

Edit2.
Um, besides EVERYTHING, anything you think I should work on in particular?

GGs, Prototype. It's just a matter of learning how I-No's approach options. Those dives are only for combos, so I wouldn't approach too much with those since it's punishable. If you also have trouble getting in but you were manage to make me block some ground normals, special cancel into Notes special and then YRC.

Edit: Other than that, because on what you press after wakeup or after air techs. Some easier I-No things to remember is that 2D > Notes is good for oki midscreen. YRC off of Vertical Chemical Love is great too on their wakeup. If you need to see more I-No play, I suggest checking out OSCA's I-No.

Keeping, I'll work on it.

I always want to do hcl but it whiffs crouching characters. I noticed when we were playing you would dash k, overhead me and combo. I'll practice that and try to use hcl less.

Will look up osca. Ya, I just started playing this, only GG I played was Isuka like years and years ago, and not for long. I plan on practicing more.

Thanks for dealing with my scrubby play.

Street Fighter mentality in this game goes like this:
"Hmm, what is he about to do? I'll throw out a poke and...oh shit I died".

On some characters, you can do 2D into HCL, but some are too heavy. So you'll want to do 2D and Notes on them instead. Also learn the instant air dash off her regular dash. The input should be 66956. It'll be helpful on knockdown since you can do VCL or j.S j.HS

I keep forgetting the other I-No player. But yeah, definitely check out Hasegawa.
When you say instant air dash you mean something different from 96?

Edit

I'll check em both out.
You can air dash out of her "ground dash" when you're high enough.

The motion I listed is the shortcut to get the earliest air dash off I-No's ground dash.

Sooo my lobbies just straight up don't work.

If I'm able to join a lobby and start up a match I get the versus screen right before the match starts and then I get a "Please Waiting" message until the thing immediately kicks me out of the lobby. I can't engage in any sort of online play. Fun times!

Edit : working now?

Definitely missing Jam but that just means someone else is going to going to get more love in this game. Undecided on whether that will be I-No or Millia.

I am also really curious about Elphelt and Ramlethal. I still need more time with them in training/challenges before I can begin to fully grasp their styles.

Anyone got any Potemkin tips? I've been tooling around with him, and got his basic gameplan down but man I kinda feel a little helpless. Like, what's the best time to use his command grab, if ever? I know you can combo into it with a meaty forward kick hit, and off a blocked mega fist if the other guy doesn't jump but other than that it feels useless.

I don't know anything about Potemkin, but all grapplers play on the same notion. You use the threat of the command grab to scare your opponent into doing other things. On oki, you generally go for whatever will punish their best command grab escape option, like how Zangief players will Hand on Oki to catch back dashes. Ideally, your choice is also safe if they just decide to block.

I get that, but from what I've found the command grab is terrible to use raw in this game. So... there's no real threat from it. I'm wondered if I'm using it wrong, cause I'm used to using a command grab to punish people trying to attack out of a knockdown or people blocking too much... but that doesn't appear to work here. I swear you can punch through a command grab in almost every scenario in this game, and in most cases hitstun invincibilty gives the other guy miles of breathing room in blockstrings.
So I'm wondering, are there better set up options, or am I just an idiot missing the right timing or something? I realize you're not a specialist, but if any one in this thread is, I'd sure appreciate the help

There's some throw invuln in this game (5 or 6 frames out of blockstun, and 5 or 6 frames after wake up IIRC) so you have to kinda delay it. Tick throws are still a part of his game. Some of it comes from hammerfall brake -> attack or throw kinda stuff.

I suppose I just need to keep trying to find that sweet spot then eh?
Yeah Hammerfall's Break... I've been ignoring that up to this point, but I'm betting that's where Potemkin's best pressure stuff comes from.

Game might arrive in the next two days. Can anyone give some general ideas on how Bedman plays and how easy it is to pick him up?

Hammerfall break is essential to pots game it helps with mobility and closing the distance and will help with pressure. If you aren't using it you are really short hanging yourself and your game.

Check out FAB if you want to see some high level play.

This game is incredible. Literally been spending all of my time doing tutorials, challenges etc, getting used to the mechanics until I'm confident enough to go online.

It just oozes badass. The music, animations, character designs and the gameplay itself. I'm liking Sol and May. They're just really fun characters through and through.

My brother's getting a PS4 come March, so I'll be double dipping on this :p

Does the PS4 disc ver. require mandatory install on the PS4? If so how much space does it take up? Cuz I might just get it digital for 6 GB which is a good size IMO.

Was I-No always saying "merry christmas" when shooting the note?!

All PS4 games require some kind of mandatory install. Retail version's install will probably not be much less than 6GB.

I cannot believe that they stripped Millia of her ADCs.

The game feels like 1/3 of R+.

And I'm not even taking the roster into the equation.

So same size huh? Digital it is then. Hope it'll go on sale come march or be a freebie by April :p

ugh. 10 frame delay game is underwater to the max bull shit.

Good luck beating a Sol player online who is okay with this garbage. MASH TILL IT WORKS SON. :/

Anyone up for me making another GAF only lobby?

I finally took this game online after playing single player for a week or so. So far I've haven't had any real trouble with lag, the worst I got was a 6 frame delay which decreased to 4 partway in the match. Won my first 2 player matches with slayer, certainly wasn't expecting to win any.

North America 2
District 8A
Lobby #2

GAF players come on in.

Casual matches. If I win one too many with my Venom I'll swap to Millia who I am training.
