Gun - New Hands-On Impressions

Speaking of the controls in Gun, first person shooter fans should be happy. The game controls almost exactly like a standard issue first person shooter. The two analog sticks control your movement, R1 shoots, R2 activates the Quick Draw mode, L2 crouches, pressing left or right on the d-pad allows you to lean in either direction, and pressing up on the d-pad will give your character a quick shot of whiskey to replenish some health.

After acquiring our horse, we headed for Dodge City. Keep in mind that this is the old west, which means that just about anything goes. So if you lose your horse, you can simply steal another one, but stealing a man's horse is like committing grand theft auto (grand theft horse?), and it could get you into trouble. In fact, if you just randomly start shooting people, the town's patience meter will build until they start forming posses to take you out. There are random fights that you can get involved in, but don't take things too far, or you'll upset the townspeople. As long as you keep this in mind while you're in Dodge City and other various towns, you'll be okay.

There's a new trailer as well, but it's still uploading to the server. Please link if you find it before it's been posted at GD.

I hope it turns out well...But Neversoft really does need to polish up the animations before the final game ships. If polished, this could be a AAA title.

Activision thinks so.

Hope the Xbox 360 version isn't Xbox 1.5 like.

Last time I saw it, Gun on the Xbox 360 barely looked better than the Xbox version. Slightly better, but not much at all.

I give Nevesoft the big F U then.

Just watched the video, looks aight. That better be PS2 they showed in the trailer. Animation looks stiff and the models don't look that great. Frame rate had problems at times too. They encoded this in quicktime too which sucks because quicktime sucks. Should have used Windows Media. Smaller files and better quality. I give the Gun Trailer a C+. It isn't worthy of a C-.

The Activision guys I talked to that came to demo the game said the X360 version would have the enchanced sound and HD visuals, but it didn't sound like there would be a huge graphical difference. I'm hoping we'll get to take a look at the X360 version (post-beta kits) sometime in the near future.

I think this game looks really good though. And the explosions looked on par with exposions in old western movies (modern day movies). I haven't checked out the new trailer, but I didn't think they looked subdued in person. Could be a personal preference though...

Yeah, it looks good....

for PS2.

Models look blocky as hell for X360. The enviroments look too bland and special effects are weak.

I wonder if the PSP verison of GUN will look close to that video...
