LMAO @ this "strategy". Gunpla Academy too fucking strong for da prodigy.

Lucas got worked. Kinda glad this was over in one episode... but that "Future" final form was epic. The fight between Kijima and Sekai is going to have crazy effects all over.

And, just to reiterate my earlier point, pretty much all the fights this season have sucked due to a mixture of poor characters, weak animation and flat choreography.

In case you disagree, please just watch this fight from last season and then return to this weeks episode with a fresh eye: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4-txHzY4ew&feature=player_detailpage#t=816

What gets me is how much better the fucking strategy is in that fight. There's actual use of terrain, decoys, explosions to control movement, knowledge of enemy mech such as Fellini not shooting at the shield, actual damage that limits movement, and awareness that if they go full out then their mechs might not be ready for future fights in the tournament but saying "fuck it".

Like what the fuck happened to this series? In this episode neither side displays any awareness of the opponents mechs, the only usage of terrain would be the hole in the asteroid(or whatever) and the use of clouds, physical damage seemingly is shrugged off by healing bots, Lucas isn't at a disadvantage due to his piloting skill but rather some bullshit plot device, the other teammates on Lucas's side serve no purpose other than to recharge Lucas, and the battle ends with some blinding light instead of something where we physically see the damage caused.

I mean look at the physical damage by itself. The mechs actually break under fire and compare that to Sekai taking that insane amount of damage from Junya and his mech works fine.

I'm reminded of how little referential humor there is in Try compared to season one.

Very little we've seen even comes close to Sei's recital of Mobile Suit Gundam under hypnosis, or his knowledge of GUNDAM STORIES.

Honestly I haven't ever gotten the feeling that any of the Try team are big Gundam fans. Sei was a Gundam freak. They've almost completely cut out all of the referential humor.

Yuuma and Sakai dropping reference left and right too.

BTW Surprised with the complaint (I guess its almost every eps I post this) thought the fight was intense and for first time ever in series, there's sense of strategy usage and skill demonstration and difference..

Weak animation and art will never be fully fixed with the studio resource clearly more focused to G-Reco instead this one.

Try has put too much stake in the power of will. They'll win through sheer force of will. It's fun to watch but not even on the same level as GBF. Plus fuck the Jigen Hou School.

It was an ok episode. The fight really wasn't anything special... Just hoping that the last two fights will be great. Adams talk about going to the nationals makes me think for sure we are getting a third season... Hopefully written by the team that did the first season.

Also hope that Naoki will be back as a mech designer for the the next season. Have loved his designs so far (EZ-SR, Mega Shiki, Zaku team (no kit though), Denial). Wish they had him do more...

The nationals should be 5v5. Why advertise just two six models per fight when you can showcase ten??? Imagine the number of scrubs they could cram into each episode.

Old vs New please

Sei
Meijin
Fellini
Mao
Ms. Meijin

Fumina
Sekai
Sakai
Lucas
Wilfred

No name kid from the streets coming out of nowhere and making frauds of top-level Gundam competitors. Why aren't they more salty?

Gunpla Academy needs to win but they won't. Their team is more skilled and can craft gunpla that are much better than Team Try Fighters.

This entire series is starting to feel like a joke used to sell toys.

Uh, one of them won the Artist Gunpla Championship. So you're fucking WRONG.

That was one of the better fights this season, which says a lot considering most of it was just clashing and then the Full Cloth running away. I think this is the perfect example of how stupid the decision for 3v3 was, one Gundam and two batteries, great "tactic," Lucas. Glad that Gunpla Academy won too, it would be a shame if the only gundams this season who aren't total shit got knocked out.

I really hope the twist at the end is that Try Fighters get bodied and they don't get another season. I don't know if I can do another season of this unless they get back whoever they lost from the first season's team that knew how to make a good show.

of course there's going to be a third season. bamco wont leave that gunpla money on the table and they can just call it gundam build fighters TRY again(to have a good show)

Uh, one of them won the Artist Gunpla Championship. So you're fucking WRONG.

It might be the name or something but Artistic Gunpla doesn't seem to imply functionality. He may be a better builder than most but the girl on Gunpla Academy easily made a better Gunpla by sheer power (since it took out that one gunpla by itself) while Yuuma's Lightning... just snipes has has speed? It's not like he's talented enough to create a Burning that was made YEARS ago by Sei. Yuuma wasn't confident in repairing it until Sei sent the parts. That girl was going all ham and MADE IT BETTER.

Tense fight. Hopefully that don't just end it here and they do make a third season with the world tournament, ideally with a better budget. I wonder if airing Reconguista and Try simultaneously is eating into the latter's resources?

My biggest problem with the episode was why the fuck weren't team Try Fighters even watching that fight? What could possibly be more important that they had to be spurred by hearing the audience to even bother watching two of their biggest competitors fight? It's just a dumb contrivance to create a pointless suspense scene.

I don't know if a third season is confirmed or not but they kind of hinted at a future past this tournament when Wilfred was talking about preparing for the World Open tournament

That was my thought the moment they said they were going to go work on their gunpla until their own match. Logically it would have been more beneficial to watch the match.

Weren't they fixing their gunpla?

It's not like they can't watch a recording of the match later. Unless the semifinals and finals are meant to all consecutively with no break?

I believe that was the whole point for both seasons. Also the reason why this season is under 19 and you see a lot more SD gundams compared to last season

That was really lackluster for a top 4 match.

Lucas' strategy was to just get resupplied?

I wish he at least took out the other 2 Gunpla first to show some semblance of that plan working.

That was a pretty bad fight and episode. The exchange where Lucas stabs and grabs The End's pistols was pretty cool though. Kind of want a Full Cloth kit now.

But yeah his gameplan was pretty dumb. He should have just made like 5 Absorb Shields and pick them up from his teammates after one gets blown up instead.

was more disappointed in that it was another fight that had a ton of potential but got wasted on nonsense lol.

Seriously gotta raise that budget tho. Feel like this is more a factor than bad writing or something. Ton's of good ideas that are not fully realized is what each episode of Try Fighters feels like.

except it worked if the girl didn't repair. The End was basically out. The girl as out. He was about to fill up to take out the blonde. But the girl self repaired and took out his last resupply.

With the damage the blonde showed after doing his future move, if crossbone resupplied he probably would have won

yeah this is the real issue. quality is just not as good as original GBF

If there's a third season of GBF I feel like Bandai won't undercut its budget. I'm sure this sells way more kits than a traditional series would, and after the last decade I really doubt their ability to produce a decent new "serious" Gundam series.

The more it succeeds the worse it'll get. It's the Gundam law.

Give me a new series in the 00 Era, Sunrise.

Unicorn?

Granted, it does seem like the one exception.

Yesssssssssssssssssssssss. Moar Gundam Wing 2. I will also accept Gundam Wing 3.

I'm telling you man, Gundam series based on Winning Gundam SD to Real Type gimmicks.

I went back and watched the Yuuki x Reiji fight in S1E6. It's almost depressing how much better that fight is than anything in Try and it isn't even the best fight in S1.

Hopefully theres a season 3 with a world tournament.
And Try Fighters lose in the first round, then Reiji and Aila come through a portal and go to Disney World with Sei and then they fight in the trans-dimensional Gunpla Tournament together.

Very little we've seen even comes close to Sei's recital of Mobile Suit Gundam under hypnosis, or his knowledge of GUNDAM STORIES.

Well I feel like the show ditched referential humour, as well as season one's heavy focus on actually building Gunpla and has turned it's attention to shonen fightingman stuff.

The second season of 00 and the movie is what broke me on Gundam. It took a lot for me to even give GBF a try. It was extra-heartbreaking because S1 was pretty good.
Unicorn?

Granted, it does seem like the one exception.

Now that I think about it I did enjoy IGLOO a lot. I had a really hard time getting anything out of Unicorn, the animation was good but it felt like an hour of filler before Char shows up and mobile suits fight for 5 minutes to make sure you buy the next release, so I sort of gave up.

I legitimately thought Gunpla Academy was gonna lose this one.

I kind of agree that it was disappointing to see Lucas all hyped up with that Full Cloth Gunpla, but got taken down just like the others.

Great battle, though.

Lord this fight is still just as hype as I remember it <3 <3 <3

Why don't more tournament shows do Pure Swiss or Modified Swiss tournaments? Let's the protagonists actually lose/draw sometimes and still make it to the finals.
