That just proves my point. Quality now is determined by how much money you make and not by intelligence.
The major movie studios are primarily out there to make money. Ultimately, it has nothing to do with quality. And it's not like this is a recent change or anything either in the movie industry.

Television hasn't needed another Star Trek series more than it does now. I miss decent sci-fi on TV. The crap on syfy has even made me miss Enterprise.

I don't have the gif to express my feelings about this. It's something beyond "my body is ready"

Woah, woah, woah....there's nothing even semi hard science about Abrahms turd. Abrahms shitty movie was the worst, most vile, shallow thing ever to happen to Trek. Even worse then the 11 years of excrement we got with Berman & Braga & Behr. It was nothing more than Star Wars with some minor Star Trek trappings wrapped around it so they can claim it's not just to keep from getting sued for plagiarism. I mean, It's written by the two biggest Hacks in the industry right now, Orci & Kurtzman. These 2 are the same no talents that wrote all 3 Bayformers movies. The fact that those 2 keep getting work just proves that the idiots have taken over hollywood.

Sorry to get so ranty but it just saddens me to see what was once one of the best, most idealistic shows about one mans positive outlook on the future fall so far as it has.

The series finale of Enterprise personifies everything incompetent about Brannon and Braga. Star Trek 09 was a breath of fresh air and excitement. There is more excitement and emotion in every second of that movie than there was in Insurrection or Nemesis put together. Nemesis especially was a dour-a-thon that seemed to try and make people slit their wrists so the depression would end. JJ Abrams was the best thing that could have happened to cinema Trek, even if Kurtzman and Orci's plot strained suspension of disbelief.

No it wasn't. It was stupid shit after stupid shit. I lost brain cells watching it.

How was it a breath of fresh air? It was Star Wars recycled. Abrahms even admits it. If you want star wars, go watch star wars.

This silly rumour again?

NO NEW STAR TREK SERIES IS IN DEVELOPMENT. THIS HAS NOT EVEN BEEN PITCHED TO CBS YET.

someone change the title.

i would kill for a tv series that ignores (or fixes) the stuff from Star Trek '09...

I liked DS9 and Voyager a lot so I would like to see that universe continue with all planets intact... i don't mind some creativity as long they don't go destroying planets with supernovas or red drops that BS really turned me off from Trek...

totally agree... the new movie made a great summer popcorn movie (who doesn't like a dumb action flick every once in a while), but it pretty much killed my interested in Star Trek... great opening I'll admit, but beyond that nothing that even comes close any of the other Star Trek films (even the bad ones)

Fuck YEAH!

Seriously after the let down that was Enterprise and it's grappling hooks I would love a new ST series set after the Dominion war with the Romulans, Klingons and the Federation jockeying for position in the Alpha quadrant. I would also love Worf to be in it, I don't know why but the Klingon angle brought so much to DS9 and I would love to see it again in a new series.

I don't know who the aggressors could be, but I'm not sure there is room for a new Alpha quadrant race, and they have already covered the Gamma and Delta quadrants with DS9 and Voyager. Maybe a new intergalactic warp drive will fuel exploration to the Andromeda galaxy and with it a whole new bunch of friends and adversaries, and the gist will be the Fedeation and Klingon alliance setting out a foothold in Andromeda for resources but having a tough time against a local aggressor species.

I could go for more trek.

It's a shame enterprise was canned when it did. It was just getting good in it's last run. I guess the damage was done.

Grew up on Star Trek, it's been far too long since we've had any new series. Shame Enterprise was canceled when it started getting good.

I know I'm probably the only one in this camp, but I really enjoyed voyager, and ill be watching this for sure.
First few seasons were pretty crap, but once Seven joined it picked up a bit (love me some Borg). It's unfortunate it has some of the worst ever episodes of Star Trek (which is what it gets remembered for) in it as the rest are decent enough.

NEVER. GOING. TO. HAPPEN.

Abrams' Bad Robot controls the 'film end' of the Star Trek franchise while (it's my understanding) CBS (a seperate company) controls the TV rights.

Les Moonves HATES 'hard' sci-fi and will never greenlight a new show.

So until Paramount are done with the Abrams' Trek films and Les Moonves has a change of heart or is replaced (neither happening anytime soon) this isn't happening.

Yes, more Trek please. The TNG/DS9 kind, preferably.

I'd even settle for another Stargate.

Preferably of the SG1 variety, not that Universe crap.

My worry is that the new Trek will be pitched as dark and edgy with crew conflicts and love interests rather than old fashioned exploration and interspecies conflict. I also worry that a new series won't pay homage to the rich ST history and will only have a bit part for traditional species like Cardassians, Klingons and Romulans while introducing some new ones out of nowhere who are suddenly able to compete with centuries old empires. Basically, everything that was wrong with Enterprise.

Will never happen. Hardcore sci-fi on network TV is dead and has been for a long while. Shows like Fringe and Lost are the closest things to sci-fi you will get.

If anything, the reboot style would be brought to TV before another of the old skool style Star Treks come back... probably would be on the CW channel or something lol

Well, this doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of actually happening.

They should focus their energy on their own IP, like Straczinski did with Babylon 5.

As for Trek, I want a new show focused on the TOS crew, but that's even more unlikely given it would mean another recast after the movies are done.

Still too early. Trek TV needs to stay gone for quite a while and eventually come back with a reboot like what Next Generation did bringing in all new fans into the franchise.

I'd watch a show based on Riker's tenure as Captain of the Titan. It'd have to happen soon, though, as Frakes is already 59.

Takei is 74, and following Sulu on the Exelsior would probably be too great an insurance risk.

i think they should let the movies flesh out the reboot universe a bit more and then build on that.
Nah, the 09 universe it trailer made for action movies having to make hundreds of episodes on a TV budget would show just how streamlined the reboot is.
A trilogy, a couple of games and maybe a cartoon is the most they should try for from the 09' timetime.

PS is there an official name for the new time-line.
We have Prime, Mirror and...

Is it about Odo helping Cardassians find the things and people they lost in the Dominion War?
Because i would watch the shit out of that series.

Didn't JMS pitch a Trek show years ago. It was very much about taking it back to its roots but adding in B5 style storyarcs as well.

the first time is called the prime timeline and the new sexy timeline is just called the alternate timeline... well that's what memory alpha says. I could have sworn it has a name but maybe I am mistaken. if its not on there maybe they havent named it.

Benjamin Sisko returns from the Celestial Temple, sees the alternate timeline from the 2009 reboot... in his rage, he wipes out that timeline...and all is well

WTF is that abomination of a Star Trek fanfilm... how did they get so many of the Star Trek actors and side characters to show up?

General Martok....noooooooooooooooooooo!!!

I would like to see a series post-Romulus kaboom.
i'd prefer they keep the planet destructions to the abrams universe and keep any part of the supernova storyline out of the old canon (unless it involves a slingshot around the sun by old spock going back to fix it so that romulus isn't destroyed or something like that)...

too bad insurrection and nemesis destroyed the goodwill towards the next-generation film franchise because First Contact was a good launching point for pleasing both avid Trek fans and a casual audience... now they've basically given the finger to hardcore trekkies (which admittedly, is a smart move financially)...

Please let something come about from this.

We are in serious need of a starship opera drama on TV. I miss the 90s when there was like 3 at a time.

Also, Roddenberry's vision was awesome. Let's go with that.

Haha, I was trying to remember what that dude's tag was. Can't even remember his name. He still around?

After seeing what Braga did with Star Trek I'm not about to write off even fanfict level proposals. I mean, after Nemesis and Enterprise, I don't think it can get much worse.
