drake? drop a classic?

He will

Dude is in relentless champion mode; his identity crisis solved, eyes clear, headed to eternal greatness. The Graham Takeover. Another piece of work thousands of rappers will listen to, think 'damn', bash it in interviews and then try to sound the same on their own 10k selling albums. Focused. No Birdshit or anybody else above him able to tell him what to do. Whew.

Fuuuuuck thought for a minute that was gonna link to one of my posts hahaha
HHNF still one of the best albums ever

So when did this Drake turnaround happen?
When I was a regular here people would get clowned for saying Take Care was great and hit with some stupid Big Ghost shit...
That still exists, and the whole soft meme, but I feel like after Nothing Was the Same it started to fade a bit.

Even during the break between Nothing Was the Same and If You're Reading This he released some of his best songs. 0 to 100, 5 AM in Toronto, etc.

Gotcha, cheers.
Drake's always been winning man, still feel his first album was underrated.

It's a Clams Casino beat too. 2015 is spiritual.

God works in mysterious ways. I saw the production credits and was thinking oh man, Clams finally blessing a competent rapper with a cloud rap classic - let me take your hand, Clams, lead me. Then the bass kicked in and I realized Clams was taking us into an abandoned building that smelled like burning plastic.

whew

I was thinking he was dropping some dope verses in the past two years then If You're Reading This dropped. Didn't care about the whole tape after about 2 weeks. Drake does have some classic singles though. That being said, VFT6 is the one I feel will be truly great. I know it. Take Care and NWTS weren't fully my flavor either.
Jesus Christ this is murder.
Thinking Mr. Wonderful is probably my most disappointing album this year. Fell out of rotation pretty quickly.

Nah man. You couldn't be more wrong. (you could if you put speakerboxxx/love below anywhere at the top but whatever)

ATLiens > Aquemini > Southernplayalistic >= Stankonia > the rest

Look inside your heart and you'll realize it to be true.

Love Below (for personal reasons) > Stankonia = Aquemini > ATLiens = Southernplayalistic = Speakerboxx > Idlewild

Exclusive Audio Footage (WHEW) & Lord Willin are classics for me. Never got the extreme love for Hell Hath No Fury and Till The Casket Drops, though.

Speakerboxxx / The Love Below is so fucking awful. Roses is the only song worth a damn and it's not a coincidence, as they're both on the damn track.

We Got It 4 Cheap mixtape series was really good, then we waited, and waited, and waited, and got Til The Casket Drops, which was an overall disappointing album with a couple stand outs

HHNF was unique at the time, and is still a good album, but it was 2006 and the bar was low.

Agreed. One of the worst double albums in rap history (that's saying something). some great hits obviously but it's a.....38 track double album. Fuck outta here

I like some of Andre's songs on there. Vibrate, Take Off Your Cool, Pink & Blue, She Lives In My Lap, etc. Lots of throwaways on both discs, though.

Love Below was the most blatant, oh-fuck-i-hate-my-band-but-we-have-two-albums-left-on-our-contract typa shit since The White Album

DWMTM is alright, but Meek still needs to leave "Hate Me Now" in 1999 where it belongs.

You really don't need an "epic instrumental first track" every mixtape and album man. You don't.

Then again, that's like complaining about his yelling. I knew it was coming before I even started listening.

I was 12 when Love Below came out. One of the most important albums of my childhood/youth. Listened to it every day from morning to night for months.
I don't care if it might not be the best one objectively in retrospect. It's just a personal classic.
