.hack//G.U. Last Recode (HD remaster, PS4 and PC) coming out

Wouldn't be a new thing for different studios to work on remasters. Additionally, Bamco owns the rights, I think. That said, if the only way for me to get Xenosaga again, I will buy a freaking Switch. Wouldn't be the first time I bought a system for 1 or 2 games. Looking at you 360 with Tales and Lost Odyssey.

They do have the rights. Its theirs, so in theory they could outsource it to a group and have them do it.

I'd even settle for a localization of the DS version for the 3DS.

No, but Xenosaga needs at least as much work as this is getting really and I don't see them doing it without the actual developer. The thing it needs most is a more unified style, since going from the first game to the others is jarring in terms of the visuals.

Played the hell out of it in japanese... With a fucking clue what's going on.

I'm very very veryvery interested in it

Ehh don't mind the different styles. the only one I have issues with is X2 with the short cuts they took with the models. Their hands are blocks! If they can fix that and then fix some of combat issues with 2 I'd be fine. Though best case would be them utilizing Xenosaga from the DS. Oh and lets not forget the censoring in X3...that was something.

Nice surprise. Bigger surprise that it's coming to PC. One of the many PS2 era series that people have been clamoring for as a Remastered collection. Check it off the list.

Shame the IMOQ quad can't be done either, but adding the Terminal Disc contents to the G.U. remaster would go a long way towards catching people up on the previous .hack games.

Wait, wasn't there 4 games on the PS2?

That was the previous games. There are two "series" of .hack games on PS2, the original Quadilogy of Infection, Mutation, Outbreak and Quarantine. Much later we got the sequel series .hack//G.U. games: Rebirth, Reminisce and Redemption.

In addition to being able to redo the Marriage Events in Vol. 3: Redemption, you’ll get to do it with all characters that become party members

.

Nice! We never got them over here in Europe so I'll definitely get this, being a fan of the developer's old games (basically anything that isn't Naruto). Maybe a sign of CyberConnect making a new series for this IP afterwards? Or at least a test to see if it's worth it?

Played all 3 of the originals and I still keep them on my shelf to this day. But it's been ages so I'd love to get the chance to do it again.

I always felt the //G.U games were way better than the original quadriology just for gameplay alone.

So we're getting this before the original 4 games...I mean beggars can't be choosers but damn... :(

I think they'd have alot more work to do on IMOQ because they probably wouldn't retain the combat/gameplay completely. They might change the system in some way. Or at least provide shortcuts for skills/items (having to continually go into menus to spam party member commands/your skills is annoying)

GU already had a solid battle system

Great news. I never played these and the fact that none (iirc) ever had a PAL release means that I would have had to mod my PS2 anyway.

Definite purchase.

All these improvements mean I'll most likely buy and replay one of my favorite trilogies. 28 fans, Duckroll.

PC release means it'll get a western release. I'm confident on that notion.

Can anyone explain it simply this release ? From what I got from the thread, it's a remaster of the second trilogy of games. How many .hack games are there ?

Is it something that a newcomer can enjoy ?

There are, I think 8 games in total.
4 for the original
3 the currently being remastered, sequel to the original 4
1 the psp game

You don't really need to play the others to understand what's happening. Though it would make things less confusing. If you want to get caught up, you could watch the 2 anime Sign and Roots.
