.hack//G.U. Last Recode (HD remaster, PS4 and PC) coming out

Interested in this as I've never played these games.

I do wish they would do the original 4 .hack games as well. Never played the 4th one.

Saw this on twitter this morning, but thought it was just a joke. I loved the original series, but never ended up playing this one (though I bought all of the games). Can't wait to finally play through this on PC.

Hopefully if this is a success they consider doing the same with the original series.

This is cool. I might hunt down the original Sign series and try it out first because I am the kind of fellow who adamantly needs full lore immersion.

I also need Xenosaga, Bamco.

Just know that the original games are stupid long. But yes, we need XENOSAGA!!!

I completely disagree ... I eagerly devoured them as they were released and had a great time. In any case, if you read all the changes to this, it's like the directors said - they're pretty much remaking everything anyway.

Haseo with an unfamiliar look appears…

I... I think I just came. Please have this come stateside! This sounds exactly like what I'd want from a sequel, let alone collection of the gu series.

If they can pull this off and better I'd gladly replay the original quad.

I've never played any .Hack.

Will I enjoy G.U.?

Depends. I'd recommend watching //sign and judging by that. Though you should also watch //roots, i think sign is the better natural starting point.

Funny enough that's exactly what they did for the DS game Xenosaga I &II. They also rewrote the Episode II story and even kept the characters in their Episode I designs.

They knew Xenosaga 2 was messed up. If we get a remaster it needs to be fixed to right a serious wrong.

It's announced for PC.
There is literally no way this isn't going to be localized.

The only change that REALLY matters.

Anyways, these changes are all amazing. Especially the vol 2 and 3 improvements coming to vol 1. It felt cool to get updates each volume that improved the game but playing vol 1 with them will feel really awesome.

Terminal disk stuff is great too. Battle tempo increase and Avatar battle changes will make it feel new as well.

I'm curious if that unfamiliar Haseo look would be his Beast mode that was only shown in Trilogy. Dual weilding Broadswords pls.

Or, it might be the form from the Novels that never got any details.

I have a good feeling it will get localized. Do games these days only get released in Japan only? Maybe the really obscure game. Those days are over of leaving games in Japan.

So never played a .hack game. What are they like? And a Xenosaga Remaster sounds too good to be true. Episode II would need a lot of overhauling though

You have a KOS-MOS avatar, believe.

Think of the .Hack games as mmo light, especially the original 4. The one that is getting remastered is more streamlined though. You can check out some vids online to get more of a feel. Kinda like Xenosaga they are narrative heavy.

Please stop comparing SAO to this. SAO stands for something.

My heart is breaking... You poor poor soul.

WAIT WAIT WAIT... That last part. Are they adding a new form?!?

Yes! More Alkaid!

It's an action rpg that takes place in two parts. The biggest is the fake MMO "The World". The other half takes place in the real world, but only as far as your computer desktop. From the desktop you can browse an AMAZINGLY accurate rendition of several forums with trolls, helpful players, etc as well as 'real world' news and even some mini games and videos.

You piece together the story from in game cutscenes, the news, and forums. There original localization was amazing at making each part feel real.

I hope when they say all party members have a romance ending now they really mean ALL. I'd kill for more gay options, even if I just choose Endrance again.

Butt-rice will live again!

I dunno about great gameplay, as fun as pulling REN-GE-KI is, it's serviceable. The great thing about it to me are the characters and how much stuff "outside of the game" (surfing forums, reading the news, watching interviews) you can discover and then connect the dots, it's a great way of storytelling for a game.

That, running over mobs with your bike and challenging the doppelganger before going to the next disc. Fun, fun, fun.

For those looking to watch the anime, you can catch them on Hulu and Funimation.com

This is what scrambling for revenue looks like after your studio gets fired from a big project.

These are the worst reviewed games to ever get an HD remaster, going off of Metacritic.

.hack is awesome, SAO is aweome, Log Horizon is awesome.

.hack has the best music.

//Sign especially.

As for SAO... The first series was okay if a bit off. I believe the creator even said he'd never played an mmo before and it shows.

Every season after the first however is awful. The first season definitely had some light hareming, but the main female lead was strong and a kick ass character in her own right. Then they neutered her character and pushed much harder on the harem aspect and never really let up... With each season only adding more and more to it.

Yeah the surfing the net elements were great for story. IMOQ had it too but it wasn't as connected as GU. There were alot of side stories that were just fake future stuff.

GU had articles that talked about the game and about alot more weird happenings in the real world.

This all sounds quite interesting. It's a series I've heard of and been curious about for like a decade and more, but just never got around to looking into. The lack of EU availability didn't exactly help. With the PC release of this I'm glad it'll be localised so I'll give it a shot!

I honestly never understood the hate when these games were released... Reading things like the ign review, it felt like they barely even played them and instead just kept insinuating they were the same as the original quad.

That said, the games got far more love in Japan.

Also yes! Butt rice forever!

bamco? next xenosaga plz

They tried. Don't you remember that when some guy at Namco said if there was a large enough petition they would think about it? That fell through. Then he said they would look at other ways to do it.

That was a couple years ago.

If I ever went off metacritic for games to play, I wouldn't have played over half the games that I've enjoyed up to this point.

I'm sure these remasters were considered beforehand, too. Surely it doesn't take too many people to relaunch an already made game?

Wow, what a nice surprise for .hack fans. All.... 26 of them maybe?
True story: I'm a .hack fan.

Only of .hack//SIGN though, and I watched that when I was basically still a teenager. Still, the music was amazing, and the concept was very novel at the time.

I'll buy this on PC.

Oh my god... this is not just a 1080/60 touchup, it's a full on patch to the original.

I somewhat expected the former and even thought THAT to be a pipe dream. For them to go back and alter it for the better... it would break my heart to not see this Rengeki its way to the West.
