I feel so conflicted. I'm goddamn excited to be continuing Chief's story, but Bungie isn't at the helm :(
A splintered faction of Bungie employees will be there.

Also, math was used to prove that Halo is only milking the franchise at .8 (the lower end of the scale) - with many other franchises milking at 1.35 and beyond.

MATHS.
But these go to 11.

So happy you guys were cooking this the whole time. <3 you guys and I believe you're going to do an excellent job. Can't wait.

This looks like this could be the Halo I have been waiting for. Luckily I'll have CE anniversary to hold me over until this comes out.

Woot!

I agree this will likely be a key launch title for MS's next box.

It would be cool to meet up with the crew from Onyx. Also more missions w/ Elites and the Arbiter would be sweet.

I'm still holding out hope the MS will eventually figure out how to use this franchise to do a RTS/FPS hybrid where an RTS person is directing other players in their FPS a la Savage 2.

If THQ handles the WH40k FPS it's doing well, that franchise might end up being a better candidate but I don't know if THQ has the money to do it the way MS would with Halo.

Whatever, I saw you out there with that cow MILKING IT. You leave Halo alone! It's only one cow! There's plenty of milk elsewhere!

I wonder if this will follow the last franchise that Bungie was a part of and then moved on from.

Myth 1 and 2 were great and developed by Bungie.

Myth 3 (which was developed after Bungie left to Microsoft and was handled by a different developer altogether) was a mess and only a shadow of what the first two games offered.

As always, Halo delivers a brilliant teaser.
Yeah really.

Why do these Halo teasers deliver more excitement than the final games?

There should really be a Halo movie out.

Very awesome, I thought Halo 3 had one of the best endings in the series, so the continuation in the trailer was a plus.

Is it possible that this trailer didn't explicitly mention the 360 because it's going to be a launch title on the next Microsoft system? Remotely possible?

Or do they usually not have a logo on these trailers?

edit: it just wasn't on the youtube video.

It says at the end of the video with the 360 logo brush thing.

However, you bring up a point that there should be a platform trademark stamped somewhere next to the game's name.

Cautiously optimistic about this next installment, but I'm not quite as gung ho about the series as I was back in the day. Combine that sentiment with a new development team of unknown quality and I'll likely be holding onto my pennies until I see some reviews.

I would love the new Halo trilogy to not feature the covenant at all. I want to see new villians and enemy types and new concepts.
This!
Although I can't see it happening.

It was a good Teaser and reveal.

although, I need to see more..Is frank writing it or is it a new team (writing wise).

I am interested, I just need to more before I'll fully jump in.

Really? I'm the opposite, I can't see the Covenant coming back (at least as a primary antagonist) with the way the story has been going up to this point.

Isnt it going to be a bit boring 3 games with only one spartan? esp. since bungie pushed so much for this coop business.
Unless Nicole comes back from dead or alive tournament.

Not every co-op game needs an in-game explanation for multiple players. Remember how Halo 1 just had player 2 play as another Master Chief character model? They could do the same for Halo 4. In fact, I would actually prefer it.

There was only one spartan in Halo 1, 2, and 3...

Lol

So is this confirmation that Halo takes place in the Marathon universe? The whole teaser seriously gave me huge memories of Marathons plot. Destroyed ship, AI, giant alien ship...

Great day for Halo fans. CE Anniversary is all kinds of awesome. Halo 4 was unexpected. Now all we need is Halo 3 PC.

To echo others, there really is no replacement for MC in a Halo game. Really looking forward to seeing what 343i can do. I know many will disagree with me (except those who actually play Halo) but I'd love to see a return to simpler times in terms of gameplay. Armor abilities and bloom definitely changed things up in Reach but they didn't do much in the fun department for me, at least in multiplayer.

With the utter dearth of anything else even remotely interesting coming from MS, Halo is pretty much the only thing that will keep me playing my 360 (or buy a 720), so "milk" away Microsoft.

Here's what you do. This is it right here. Do this.

Let Eric Nylund fully write the trilogy in book form.

Then make the games and actually follow the books.

See, the books were good. The games? After CE? Not so much.

Me too man, can't even fathom maxed at 1080p, no jaggies, and a steady framerate of 60fps, Oh man that would be amazing :D
EDIT: totally forgot mouse and keyboard yo lol

i think Halo and Mass Effect showed us how stupid trilogies are when they are actually made. I'd be more excited for Halo 4 if it were a standalone game but they'd rather milk it.

Trilogies are a perfect way to go. Gears and Mass Effect are evolving into great epics. Halo had the chance after Halo 1, still had a glimmer of hope despite Halo 2, and then turned to crap in 3. ODST and Reach were just kicking a man when he was already down.

Halo 4... a chance at a new beginning. Despite the Covenant saga turning out rather bad, Master Chief is still an awesome character. Hopefully they can do the man justice.

Develop a good plot, cut back on vehicle use, and I'm back on your side.

And at least it's not those has-beens at Bungie mailing it in on this one.

Is it me or does cortana and master chief look weird. Chief looks fine on the trailer but on that cover he looks like crap compared to the chief we know.

What cover? But yea Cortana need some adjusting.

Still so surprised at this in a way. I expected something Halo 4ish, but Halo 4 for 360? Holy shit.

Cant wait for more details.

Still bummed MS spoiled it this morning though.

Edit*
Was this posted?

Halo 4 is the next blockbuster installment in the iconic franchise that's shaped entertainment history and defined a decade of gaming. Set in the aftermath of Halo 3, Master Chief returns to confront his own destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe. Halo 4 marks the start of a new trilogy that begins with its release in 2012.

Something tells me this will tie into the forerunner books.
