I actually liked 4s armor the best. It looks like the walking tank it's supposed to be, not some fancy iron man suit.

Hopefully the railgun stays around for Halo 5. Incredibly satisfying weapon in an incredibly dissatisfying game.

Grenade launcher 2.0 is out the door and gone forever accept it.

please bring it and the profile back
I'd have grenade launcher and Railgun return, make the Railgun have zero aim assist but.

I like weapons that have a steep learning curve, makes it more satisfying when you become good with them (grenade launcher).

That's kinda what I thought :/

Could be an alpha or literally just a demo.

But if it does comes with Halo 2 it seems kinda counter productive to split the community.
A march beta means Halo 2 remake(if the nov 2014 rumors are true xD) will have had half year time to grow or shrink and it will give 343 also half a year to analyze and process the beta data and feedback.

If its in december you wont hear me complaining means they want data and feedback early which is a good sign if they want to take over competitive gaming again.

Well, the vast majority of information provided by ntkrnl thus far has turned out to be true. So, I guess it could happen.

It's weird that I only played through Halo 4's campaign once (on Legendary difficulty) and never touched it again. I've played through the others and least twice. Hearing about all of this Halo news makes me wanna go through it again.

Played it four times now. Never gets old, at least for me.

I've played through I think 4 times.

First on Heroic, then coop on Heroic then Legendary solo and again on Normal.

That's about what i played Halo 4... compared to some 15+ playthroughs each Halo pre-Reach (Reach i didn't play nearly as much but grinding credits lead me to play it a bit more. Goddamn challenges).
Ultimately i feel a tad burned out from Halo, i guess, and the fact i haven't played much on consoles since Halo 4 is partially the reason i haven't played it more. Was actually considering yet another playthrough.

Halo 3 reveal Chief is my favourite variant, it's a pity it never made it into the final game:

I was hoping Halo 4 would have a higher quality version of this armour but oh well. For me it's H2 = H3 > CE >>>>>> H4. The Halo 4 multiplayer armour variants are absolutely horrendous though, I'm hoping they improve them for Halo 5!

It wasn't significantly different though was it?
A little less pitted armour, which isn't a bad thing as I'm pretty sure that the armor wasn't made from 1900's cast iron.

H4 armor make the other variants look stiff in comparison. It's easily the best so far.

The only things I want taken from Reach and H4 is the grenade launcher, Extraction gametype, and Reach's Forge.

Everything else can go.

Extraction was a Halo 4 gametype, you probably mean invasion, where you have to "extract" the objective. Also, I completely agree with you on all of those points, there will never be a gun as fun as that.

My favorite armor no doubt. Halo 4 is to bulky looks like he has man boobs and the thrusters are to big. I prefer the sleeker look.

No I was talking about the game type.

I said "the only things I want from Reach and H4"

It wasn't that much different, no. I quite liked the pitted look though! I still prefer the older Mark VI variants, something about most of the 343 armour variants puts me off.

I'd like to see this return, good anti vehicle weapon without being op.

I know it's not gonna happen but can we will have no sprint?

Would be awesome to have no sprint. Seriously after a few games of Halo 3 you forget all about sprint. The game plays natural and perfect without it. Makes you wonder what the point of sprint is. A faster movement speed or starting off slow and gradually getting faster to a point as you walk would be better alternative to sprint.

Plus its one of the things that makes Halo unique in the FPS space.

No sprint just makes map movement and flow so much better. And it doesn't hurt game types like CTF where as soon as you spawn you can run over to the other base.

Also it allows them to keep the map sizes smaller.

I really liked the dark/grey theme of Reach. Everything from weapon to armors just had different look to it. Even the interface, loading screen etc. was good and unique.

I loved the multiplayer lobby in Reach. Being able to see the score and stats of your friend's game was cool and it was easy to join their lobby/game.

Reach had some pretty cool weapons.

*Vomits in mouth*

Please, no.

Edit: this was response specifically to the weapon shown. I didn't care for it personally. I also didn't like the addition of the dmr, especially with the bloom. Then in H4 keeping the dmr and adding even more options for long range combat made things worse. I am a huge believer in less is more as far as weapon options, and obviously balance is a key factor.

Why is the Chief's chestpiece damaged again? The fall from space at the beginning of Halo 3?

I've completely forgotten if it was explained.

Grenade launcher, plasma launcher, focus rifle?

DMR is bad though.
Focus Rifle was terrible. Annoying to be shot with, and pretty much useless for what it was designed for. The Grenade Launcher is still the best weapon in any halo, though. And the Plasma launcher is one of the best anti-vehicle ones.
Zero bloom DMR was amazing on 4v4 maps.

So you vomit about the Focus Rifle, but then rant about the DMR? Huh?

I agree about the focus rifle completely, and while I didn't mind the PL, it was erroneous in my mind when HCE/H2/H3 got by with minimal anti-vehicle weaponry. I also have nothing against the GL, but it did create imbalance amongst weapons imo. What was the best counter to the GL other than the RL, grenades or armor abilities? It just isn't the best use of a power weapon slot to me. The SL is a better niche power weapon to me. As for the dmr, it has no place in future Halo games if there are other long range options.

The recurring problem with the past couple Halo games has been the increased weapon catalog with widening niches. There used to be weapon balance that had counters available in any given map, and I think that duel wielding even helped with this ability to balance. The expanding weapon choice started to get out if control with H3 and has only gotten worse with each successive Halo release (sans ODST, because no multiplayer). I still find things to love in each game and have played them all for at least 1000 games. I just think that the simpler the design the better the team can balance everything.

/rant

So you vomit about the Focus Rifle, but then rant about the DMR? Huh?

I vomited about the FR, and then also complained about the dmr. I think I'm allowed to dislike a weapon enough to puke and still not enjoy the arsenal provided beyond that weapon. Besides, I was responding the the post about there being multiple good weapons in the Reach. I just didn't care for some of the additions when compared to those lost in transition.

I believe the box art might be the in-game render of MC. It's just a tad more detailed than in h4, and you can also see some fixes like on the shoulders, the legs, and the visor.

Edit: I like the H5 render better because he doesn't look super skinny. The armor actually looks like it has some weight now.

This. Please remove the spartan laser and replace it with the plasma launcher. It at least wasn't instant kill and had to be used in proper situations to kill vehicles in a single volley

Love this weapon! The Sticky Detonator wasn't a worthy successor.

All this DMR hate... A zero bloom DMR with a 2x scope instead of a 3x scope along with reduced aim assist would fix a lot of its' problems. It was just too easy to pepper people across the maps.

I just prefer single shot weapons over burst fire weapons. Leads to less randomness in gun fights.

I was looking over the halo 4 cutscenes. From the first few minutes, Halsey suspected that the guy she was talking to wants to replace chief.

It could be one of the Spartan-II's from Team Black in new armor.
316px-Black_Team_zps7eaabb3f.png

Fireteam Spartan: Black, often referred to as Team Black or Black Team, is an unconventional warfare unit of SPARTAN-II super soldiers who report directly to the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), unlike their NAVSPECWEAP-oriented comrades. It is composed of four Spartans - two female and two male.

If it is Black-Three or Black-Four (the two males of the team) and he is hunting down the Master Chief, I hope it is Black-Four, as he is somewhat of an unlikable character in my book and has stabbed his fellow Spartan's in the back before.

Drama on Team Black:
While being trained by SCPO Franklin Mendez, Black-One and Three secretly had a romantic relationship. Victor (Black-Four) was jealous of them and reported them to Mendez, who sent both to the brig.

That armor is 100% in the game.

Just with better shaders, lighting, and lack of real time reflections.

The armor from the reveal looked terrible in game.

Though it did look absolutly amazing in the reveal.

But the in game model looked better, in game.

Both serve a purpose and both should be in Halo 5.
No I'm saying that the Grenade Launcher was a widely loved weapon in Reach but didn't appear in Halo 4. Don't expect for the Railgun to return based on anything special like uniqueness or fan desire.

Personally, I hope they both return.

God the armor from Halo 4 looks awful. Halo 5 looks kinda better. Still don't understand why they changed his armor in the first place. They had a near perfect design in H2 and H3 and just threw it out the window.

I thought Halo 3 and 2 had the worst armour design.

The helmet just looks weird and fat. Didn't like it at all. The new design is far better IMO.

It also looks more protective. The Halo 4 one sure shows a lot of black, a lot of open areas not protected by the metal.
