Halo MCC's 20gb day-one patch is live

Still no patch for me...

Still haven't been able to start the patch. I'm curious though, what does the * icon mean when it's on a game pin? Because that's what on the MCC in my home menu.

For what it's worth I left my xbox off for about twenty minutes and when I turned it on the patched had already started downloading.

The green asterisk in a white triangle means new content for that app/game has been downloaded. If that's on the MCC tile in My Games and Apps, you have the patch.

wtf? can someone confirm this. Hollyshit man if true.

I'm just kind of guessing because those of us who bought digitally have the game already, therefore the game can be updated. I don't see how you can download an update for a game that's not even installed on your system yet.

But I'm no Xbox scientist, so...

wait I think there is a confusion. I am getting my PHYSICAL copy on Saturday. So I will have the game on Saturday. What you mean by no patch for a game that you don't have?

Oh, I thought you meant you wanted to download the patch before you got the game. You should be fine to download the patch once you insert the disc.

You will be able to get the patch rather easily than, since when you launch the game you will be prompted to. The problem is with digital versions. The game is not out yet, so you can't force it by launching the game w/ a digital version.

If you have the disc copy of the game, you should be able to download the patch. Review copies have been getting it applied, after all. That's how we've seen the "it's time to update" screen. There is no way to reach that with an Xbox Store preorder.

You have it already

Nope, I have the icon at the game pin either. But my game is only 45gb. So, no patch downloaded. I think this icon is being shown for the pre-order bonus content.
Edit: Nevermind, sorry. The icon thats being shown for me is not the "*" icon, but the controller with a "+".

You need to download the patch when you get the game

I am central California and nothing for me as of yet. I also just swapped my black Xbox One for a White Sunset Overdrive. Last night I re-registered the newer system and removed the older system for the Dashboard Beta program. When I got home and turned on my system it came on and was in the Apps/Games section and it was showing my Dragon Age installation as stopped, but when I tried to do something, it basically came out of suspend mode and locked up.

After I power cycled it (holding in the power button for 10 secs or so) it re-booted and was prompted with the "Its time to update", so at least I was able to get the new system into the beta program. But still nothing on the MCC Content Update. Like many of you, I want to begin playing a 9pm PST on Monday night, so I hope I am getting it soon.

Any word if there is also a day 1 patch coming? If so, I hope it is not a large file.

With so many people reporting not being able to download the patch, if they dont know it yet, soon they may have knowledge about the problem. At least I hope so.

Maybe they're rolling it out slowly. Mine only started downloading a few hours ago on its own (I didn't change any settings or anything, just had my console in standby)

My review is ready for midnight. 5 hours and 37 minutes, folks. I'm so excited to see what others thought of the game!

Uninstalled started to redownload and it's downloading the patch as well. Not a fix for people with caps but it works if you dont.

Guys I am so torn! SO FUCKING TORN! What do I do?

Buy this game digitally or at Best Buy. Best Buy is tempting for the fact of 20% off and $10 RZ coupon but none of my stores are having midnight releases, so I would be stuck waiting till 10am the next day. I may sacrifice all that just to be able to play at 12:01am EST. Decisions decisions...

Ok. Found out today that my free copy of MCC is going to be a download code, which im pretty pissed about because I was planning to sell the game.

Just so im clear, the game itself is 50gb, then I have to download a 20gb patch?

Also, how are the campaigns of these games? I vaguely remember playing a bit of Halo 1 as a kid and getting bored pretty quicky (Im not a shooter guy normally) but if im gonna have 4 halo games taking up space on my console I might as well beat them. I probably can beat the campaigns on normal. Do they at least have a interesting story?

For reference, the only FPS that I have beaten in recent memory have been Doom 3 and All of the serious sam games. Everything else just bores me.

Time vs money.

I got mine without even realizing it.

Make sure you all go find your game in the apps area and go to "manage" and see what it says for size. If it's over 45GB you have the patch.
