It's the better version. OG Sidewinder had more stalemates when I played with my buddies than even Blood Gultch. Snipers dominate on Sidewinder even more than Blood Gultch, so it works out fine.

SpartanFall: Guardians.
Ya it didnt bother me either, it's 500 some odd years in the future, I sure as shit would prefer the best weapon to be a Pistol, most convenient and easiest to handle.
Hell it even says in the Halo CE manual that the rounds are semi-armor piercing and highly explosive rounds. Checks out to me.
not armor abilities, Spartan abilities. Totally different
Not a killcam, but Spartan Playback Software. Totally different
Not weapon loadouts, but weapon sets. Totally different
And the worst case scenario is the already four way split for the already decreased population from H2's glory days is split up five ways now with Halo 5 sucks up the population and you left with boosters and fracas host for H2 customs
Did IGN count Cragmire?
Think we can rank that as zero

Wow, it almost looks like the starting utility weapon, that "overpowered" pistol, sits squarely in the middle in terms of slaying power. Almost like it's a nice blend between power and utility, where its rarely the preferred weapon in any situation, but it gives the user the ability to excel in any situation with skill.
Almost like it's perfectly balanced.

Ugh, time to re-download.
Only Halo 2: Anniversary.
Yeah I don't understand the point of acknowledging the mistakes of Halo 4, then just kind of renaming some of the features as something new but in reality they should function the same way....
Giving everyone an identical palette is a step in the right direction, but I will reserve judgement until I play the beta. Either way, looking forward to experiencing it.
It worked for me. Can't guarantee it will work for everyone.

Everything but ground pound sounds awesome to me. No matter how hard I try, I just can't envision how a ground pound would work in Halo.Ehhhhhh not sure how I feel about the Halo 5 leaked info. Armor abilities may be gone, but we still have sprint, double jump, thrusters, hover, and ground pound?
I'm a bit skeptical that these changes will be beneficial while returning to the Halo 2-esque arena shooter. Worst case scenario, we have Halo 2 Anniversary and can keep playing new forge maps ad infinitum.

Does H2A have the same input lag CEA had? I'm assuming yes.
^ yea, instead of a person having one terrible ability, now they have all of them. What's the worst that could happen?!
Batshit crazy post. Get out of here with your arrogance and elitism, as if you know what Halo fans may enjoy from your feeble experiences with a game over a decade ago. There's no possible way gamers in 2015 would appreciate a sandbox like CE's with AR/Pistol starts, so let's go back to crushing 343 over false promises of ranks and mask our elitism elsewhere, where the numbers support us.Lets see here...

Everything but ground pound sounds awesome to me. No matter how hard I try, I just can't envision how a ground pound would work in Halo.
I could see ground pound work if it didn't actually deal any damage. If it knocked people back around where you hit and made it so you were vulnerable for a second it could be quite good. It would be a traversal option rather than an attacking move. It would allow you to very quickly descend from high up.Everything but ground pound sounds awesome to me. I don't think ledge grab should leave you vulnerable or take long at all. I think it should be a very quick animation and you have the same pause as you have when coming out of sprint before being able to fire again.Right now I feel more inclined to be hesitant about the ledge-grabbing than the pound.
The only way I think they'll fit in properly to the game is if (a) they leave you vulnerable and (b) they're not spammable or broken like Reach's Armor Lock.
Simple balanced mechanic for ledge grab would be: you miss the jump, but you enter a ledge grab animation as fail-safe (via button press) that leaves you completely vulnerable for 2 to 3 seconds. For the ground pound it'd be a similar situation, but you'd be left vulnerable either in terms of loss of shields and/or a 2 to 3 second movement penalty.
They need to be balanced like this to work properly, imo.

Ledge grabbing sounds awful to me. Like, not only bad, but totally pointless. But I'll keep an open mind and hope for the best.

But not all the abilities are terrible. Thruster pack was a good addition (we'll have to see about the rest). In fact, if the leak is right, the most objectionable abilities are gone entirely, so... yeah.

This sounds reasonable. Beta should help with balancing so I'm not too worried. My thoughts:
Have it kill only someone you land on. Strip shields for those closest, with damage dropping the further out you get. The cost of this is a lengthy animation and no shields for the groundpounder, so if you fail to kill them, or if you drop into the middle of an entire team, you'll get wrecked.
Does anyone actually like ledge-grab?What was wrong with just jumping and missing a ledge? Why do we need a ledge-grab?
Yeah, I didn't realize Kampfield (on phone, can't check spelling, lol) was verifying the older rumors, too. That makes me more worried. Ledge grabbing sounds awful to me. Like, not only bad, but totally pointless. But I'll keep an open mind and hope for the best.

To allow everyone to be a good player, and not feel that they suck because they missed a jump.
Keep drinking that Kool-Aid bro.
