never underestimate their ability to fuck things up. Xbox is never going to have the success that should have in relation to it's size and potential. in fact; because all of their acquisitions and their current situation, their future is more uncertain than ever.

Do you honestly think this is true? - I mean I suppose they could just change to microsoft gaming or something but I wouldnt say their future is uncertain, they are going third party and they will be huge in gaming. I think that is pretty certain. As certain as any company in this climate can be.

Isnt everything moving in the right direction for them, when it comes to revenue etc. I am not going to hypothesise about profits as none of us know what that is. For revenue etc, they are consistently growing.

If I somehow bought up all the stock of Apple, does that make me Steve Jobs? More likely i would just be a rich idiot with no idea how the business works, so the actual Board of Directors would just keep doing what they want and ignore my input.

Buying IPs and studios did not take any skill. Xbox did not grow at all, they bought Activision and now Activision is bigger than Xbox. Xbox itself didn't grow and in fact is now shrinking.

And it is because Xbox bringing nothing to the table, that caused Activision's Third Party gaming to become the priority OVER the Xbox desire for exclusives. Activision is the one bringing in the profits, so Xbox lost control and couldn't argue why they should let Activision make more money WITHOUT Xbox control.

I was under the impression that xbox has been growing in revenue all the way up to the ABK purchase?

If I buy a Porsche 911 turbo that does not make me a race car driver, it just puts me $200,000 in debt.

Xbox generate a lot of Impressions, most of it incorrect. Like when they tried to falsify the increase of Gamepass by turning existing Gold members into Gamepass holders.

Anyway, the lies caught up to them. Because Activision is a relatively healthy company and Xbox is not. Xbox tried to hide its own incompetence by buying up a company of more competent people, and now they are surprised that they are no longer in charge. The new guys, being able to MAKE MONEY, become the new darlings and get to have a say.

Why do people give a fuck about how much revenue MS make?

We are supposed to be gaming fans.

I’m a Man Utd fan, and I whilst I am aware of the revenue they make, I can still admit that the club has been run into the ground the last 10 years. I just want to see the team play great football, just like I want to play great games. Man Utd spending millions on new players has not made them a better team, just like MS spending billions on publishers hasn’t made them a better gaming corp.

And there are MS fans still wanting MS to buy more publishers. Why? So they can fuck those up as well? Absolute clown show.

If they fail to bring in money, the brand suffers from it. SEGA and Xbox show you just what happens in this situation.

I don't think is something you should celebrate when you paid huge amounts of money to bring them to their own ecosystem. You just look like a rich kid showing up your expansive toys.

Sega made great games that failed to bring in money, Xbox have failed to make great games and thats guaranteed to not make money. Theres a big difference.

I’m aware of those differences, but the point is bringing in less money caused their downfalls. Which answers the question of “why do we as gamers care”.

They are celebrating being rich.

Microsoft killing it with the billion dollars! So much so, they be giving some of those games to PlayStation. Share the load.

They have a solid catalog now. Given their strategy that was obviously the #1 priority for them. Good for the old GP subscription for sure.

What a BS post. Activision IS part of Microsoft gaming, and were purchased by Microsoft, not ‘Xbox’.
Good luck arguing that Activision > Microsoft.

This reads like weird fanfiction tbh.

Call of Duty, Overwatch, Minecraft, Diablo and Doom are part of that list and were already on PlayStation.
‘So much so’ indeed 🙄

Haven’t heard anything about a Candy Crush port to consoles, though.

The last report Xbox revenue was down if you removed ABK from the equation which isn't good. MS reported it that way themselves I guess cause they had to. I think the next report will include ABK+Xbox together so we will see how they are doing overall. With COD releasing it should be pretty good for them.

Just different points of views my man. This place would be very boring if we all had the same take on everything.
Agreed. Seeing fans talk and discuss is really nice, but people hating and sdemonizing anything not their toy not so much. And don't say we don't have them here.

Like it or not, Xbox secureed themselves into gaming with these purchases. It was a safe exit from console platform to genuine 3rd party publisher.

If they didnt have Bethesda and Activision. Would there have even been a Xbox Series? Xbox Series was carried by Bethesda/Gamepass “hype”.
Without Bethesda and Activision, Xbox would of been done by now, and being a 3rd party without Bethesda and Activision, would of been a total failure for MS.

They will basically be around forever unless they really go full on fuck up with every title. But with the likes of Elder Scrolls, Doom, COD, Minecraft, Fallout, Diablo, they are always gonna have customers now
Microsoft started buying studios what, 6 or 7 years ago? What do they have to show for it? They bought Ninja Theory in 2018 and they finally released a game, and it was a wet sloppy diarrhea fart. The best game Microsoft released in that timeframe was Forza Horizon 5, which is a homegrown franchise. So, no, Microsoft did not secure anything.

Eh, plenty of people just share their passions while favoring what they favor. I’d be willing to bet there are less than 10 users here who own just one device and do nothing but champion it.

You might want to look up MS’ track record as a publisher or just the quality of Xbox management overall. Their job as a full third party only gets tougher not easier. And they have a lot of studios they are responsible for managing now.

Expect A LOT of studio closures, divestments, and layoffs over the coming years.

It doesn't require championing/defending a corporation to shit on something someone doesn't like. So of course "we have them here" for just about every platform, but show me the video game forum that doesn't have them. Either way, I think you are holding up a loud minority above everyone else.

Apparently if you buy a house and put it up for rent, you only break even when you’ve collected rent that covers the purchase price. It’s a bad investment until then.

🙄

‘Train wreck’?
From shareholders point of view, revenue’s going up.
Revenue ? Engagement ?

Please share the Xbox division PROFITS.

You know, the only metric that actually matters.

(I genuinely don't know it, so it's a real question)
