Hey nerds, just letting you know that the next episode of Reclaimer Radio is up on our site.

We're discussing the E3 campaign demo, it's implications on lore, a breakdown of Warzone, and Gringo's inability to pronounce the word "Permanent".

"The slightly belated one-year-anniversary podcast for Reclaimer Radio! Join the gang sans Ghazi as they discuss the Halo 5: Guardians media blowout at E3 2015, including the Campaign demo, lore repercussions, Warzone and Arena details, and GameStop plugs."

I want to listen, but the audio quality... what program are you using for this?!

I've never tried to do it. What difference would it make if it was?
Eh, I like to run different set ups and a name is easier to remember what its for than a number? Cause the game has the functionality for it but it doesn't appear to work?

What part of it sounds bad? The only one with an actually bad mic it Gringo, I use my H1 microphone and it works very well, and Wahrer uses a Snowball mic if I remember correctly.

Tyler's mic, everyone else sounds mostly ok other than some random pops/etc

Also, individual levels are all over the place. Baby is trying to take a nap, sheesh! Its not fun to turn the volume down for every other person.

Looks like MS is finally offering up retail XB1 titles on Games with Gold for next month.

Nice. Pretty good value in Gold these days, I snapped up a 7 month for a mere £11.

So I just bought an xbox one in preparation for Halo 5. How is MCC doing now a days? I got two other buddies to join me in this journey, I hope we can play together with minimal hitch.

Hope you like the campaigns M8. My MCC experience last night:

Me and friend try to play but he keeps lagging. Probably a problem with his connection but he claims he plays GTA online lag free.

Me and Tawpgun party up and try to find a game. It keeps dropping him from search. We decide to have a warm up Octagon in customs. The map fails to load. We both reset the game and retry the custom, with success. We then try MM together and no dice. individually we can find games so we fly solo.

In the pre-release lube up, Dan Ayoub claimed that the MCC was using a matchmaking algorithm that would produce the "fastest, fairest online Halo experience" to date. The majority of the games I played last night were a great distance from being fair and the matching speed was sometimes snail-like. The worst example of a night of bad randoms being on my team approximately 70% of the games I was in:

Thumbnail_Large_zpsr16gmmtf.png

A fair neg 95 from my teammates there.

Did I mention the uneven teams? That's reared its head again after a month or so of stability. Several lopsided games in BTB (an awful way to start a 1 sided obj game, people understandably quit immediately and then it's 4 rounds of zzzzzzzzz). Check this shit out that absolutely never happened in the original games:

http://xboxclips.com/The+Henery/376d001d-c242-4dbf-a1c5-56d87f9cb822

Started 2v3, ended 4v3.

Renowned fan favourite Ghost Town is the highest weighted map in MCC H3 in both 4v4 and BTB. MCC is good if you can power through all that BS though.

I don't understand how anyone can possibly say that Master Chief Collection is anywhere near "fixed." Zero communication about MCC lately from 343 in regard to acknowledging existing issues, plans for future bug fixes, etc. Plenty of talk about Halo 5, though!

Well, that sucks. I guess I'll see how we do once I recieve the Xbox. We do plan on playing campaign, so all hope is not lost.

But it is near fixed. What's still bugging you? There's some uneven matches, but I wouldn't say that's a bug. I think it's just a poor matchmaking system that prioritizes speed over everything else.

Matchmaking is weird sometimes. I have to back out of searching to get it to work, then it works right away. Other than that, zero issues. I rarely even have quitters anymore.

Sounds like they put even less effort into mixing and editing than I do. That's a hard feat to accomplish.

I salute these brave soldiers.

I had all sounds drop in the middle of a match today

That happens a lot to me in H4. All the weapon sounds will stop working for a bit, and then they'll come back later in a few seconds.
Mine was all sounds. Even in the ui post match. Going to the x1 home then back in fixed it though

Ok, that's bad. I haven't encountered that one yet. I sometimes still get the bug where I hear UI sounds while I'm playing, but that's the worst I've experienced lately.
...? Do you mean people quitting? Games starting 2v3 and 8v6 is definitely a bug.
No, I mean matching based on skill level and party status. When I get unequal teams I usually chalk it up to quitters who disagreed with the vote or people who get disconnected after the point of no return.

I had some matches last night where people quit during the vote, and it bumped the remaining 7 players back to Searching for a new eighth.

But when they quit after vote concludes, the game starts anyway (I'm hoping they get the quit penalty too)

Been playing the MCC quite a bit for the past week and I haven't come across any bugs except for yesterday when I started it up and all of the images looked like TV static. Uneven teams hasn't been an issue either except for when people quit (which is bound to happen when they don't get the game or gametype they want because for some reason people will quit willy nilly nowadays).

There was also a time I was playing and some audio issues went down. Turns out it was because I was installing a game while playing a game (I tested it with other games to be sure). Based on my experience so far I would say it is pretty much fixed unless I've just not been noticing bugs.

Poltergeist glitch strikes again!

I'm still convinced that outside of ranked matches all matches should feature join-in-progress. Otherwise they just become a snowball of quitting. Would anyone really want to play a 1v4 or 3v8?
unless it's SWAT that is

Quitting got twice as bad when JIP was implemented. People get this notion that it's not such a big deal because they'll be replaced. Not to mention it led to *even more quitting* because people get thrown into matches where they're already losing.

Well the first thing to say is that teams should be pitted against teams. Ranked literally doesn't make sense if four randoms can play a team of four.

Did you watch the clip I posted? Join in progress a minute into a Halo 3 game. A lot of it is quitting, yes, but there are other weird things at play.

Also games are still ending when the host quits. Would love some stats on the amount of games played on dedis cause nearly every game I play has late grenade response. It's so obvious when it's on a dedi, game plays amazing.

I hate watching Henery suffer like this, he's a good dude! Not like this 343!

Halp

It's my own damn fault for continuing to try to play it. Too stuck in Halo ways.

The appropriate response to this is to have a matchmaking option for players to opt out of JIP as a search feature akin to what was offered in H3 and Reach with "prefer good connection", etc.

(may slow matchmaking times)

How about you shut off those hi-beams there Wes?
It's illegal in most municipalities by the way.

Can't stop the One Stop Taken Locke Shop Highbeam Train

No Batman spoilers in here please B O Y S

And yes, It's fucking incredible, you have no idea how dark this game will get.

I just wanted to say how familiar it feels to drive the Batmobile. Years of Warthog training is paying off. ;)

Gotta say, living in Washington definitely has it's perks.

A quit penalty that makes people think twice about quitting is what Halo needs outside of Warzone, otherwise JIP results in what ExWife said, this mentality of "Quitting is fine, I'll move on from one game to the next when I don't get what I want."

I feel sorry for my pc bros

When will these large ass companies learn to not outsource terrible pc ports.

I dunno how it even happened. I mean, it's missing basic graphic effects like ambient occlusion. The PS4 version looks and runs better.

I might replay Asylum and City while I wait it out. What a mess.

Man it'd be really nice if the PC version wasn't a pile of garbage

At least WB acknowledged that it's broken and suspended new sales, until it's fixed. Find it very odd, that the PC version performs this bad, because the previous titles run great.

But yeah, I feel sorry for PC guys.

No, I missed your clip cause I was on my phone. Wow, I didn't know H3 even supported JIP. Had a "Teammate Gained" announcement and everything. I wonder if they were just staring at a black screen for a minute before they spawned or what.
Warzone SWAT.

Capture bases. No AI on the field. 24 players.
Can you spawn in a helicopter and parachute in?

I think quality levels are roughly in this order, from best to worst:

1. Steven (blue snowball)
2. Wahrer (blue snowball)
3. Austin / Ghazi (H1 mic / Etheric Ore)
4. Ian on mic
5. Tyler, Ian on mobile phone (potato)

I thought I had leveled out the audio for the most part save for Tyler's, who's kinda difficult to modify due to how small the dynamic range is in his recordings. That being said, I typically have everyone possible record themselves as well and only use my personal Mumble recordings if there's no other option available and then send over the individualized stems. Levels may be due to a different mastering setup I used for this one, so I'll have to play around with it.

Popping for the most part is edited out manually (only Steven and I have pop filters iirc,) but I'm usually pretty good about noise removal and editing out the "blank" parts of the individual tracks. Ian was sitting in what sounds like a fucking rocking chair for RR7, though. I blame him.

I never thought Palmer was annoying until people started to point it out. I'm only at the beginning of the first Spartan Ops mission and I'm already sick of hearing her.

Ban people without real mics, this is hard to listen to.
