If I just watch the Spartan OPs cut scenes on youtube will I miss out on some story? I did the first 3 levels and this is as awful as I remember it.

You'll miss an egghead here and there but no, you'll be able to understand it well.

Does anyone know where to get "pro" micro USB cables for Xbox One?

By "pro" I mean ones that will stay firmly connected to the controller unlike the one that comes with the play and charge.

The ones the pro team use in The Sprint look ideal but I don't know where to get them.

Any help finding them or something like them would be greatly appreciated.

As noted by another user Monoprice cables are great. This is the cable I had used, but in white (looked dope :p)

[A Grave Stream]: Guardians

The multiplayer map Guardian from Halo 3 was originally part of an actual level in the camagin that was cut during development. The level took place in the Guardian Forest, and was to feature Guardian Sentinels as fightable foes throughout. The forest itself was to be littered with Forerunner stuctures that would be explorable as you progressed. The multiplayer map was one of these structures. What the campaign mission would have focused on, or what objectives were to be completed, are unknown, as again, this was cut at some point. Another piece of this level was also removed and spliced into The Covenant level.

Hmm. Where have we seen Guardian Sentinels before? Ah yes. Halo Origins! The Guardian Sentinels can be seen escorting/protecting the Key Ship.

343 definitely, and massively, overhauled what they look like, but the Guardian assets and lore have been floating about for a while, and almost made it into Halo 3 before getting left on Bungie's cutting room floor.

Catching up on some twitter stuff, some guy asked Josh why the pre-order for Halo 5 only shows 1 player for the game. He responded by saying all MP modes use full screen on dedicated servers (Arena, Warzone) etc. A lot took it to mean split screen cut entirely from the game, not just campaign co-op. Was this confirmed? Or are people drawing a wrong conclusion?

They can be different. Remember these are Sentinels. We don't know what classification these new Guardians are.

I've been under the impression that there is no local co-op at all.

True. Just seems like a possible (certainly not probable or definitive) connection, given that the Guardians were cut entirely. Perhaps that class was repurposed. Could just be new altogether. Fun to speculate!

If that is the case, it's the first I'm hearing of it. Thought Arena still had 2 player split screen.

Sadly, the West Coast is probably still asleep, so no bugging Frankie about it for another few hours at least :p

I'm taking that as no split screen. Why else would he say that?

And AGAIN, 343 can't give straight answers.

Yeah, I saw this.

Would really fucking suck.

My hope is that they're still trying to get or working so he doesn't want to commit to an answer until it's confirmed.

"The priority feature for the release of Halo 5 was 60FPS, so that's what the team has been focused on delivering. But, you know, never say never. The glorious thing about Halo and about Xbox is that we can deliver continuous improvements to any experience. But, no announcements being made here."

- Shannon Loftis - Microsoft General Manager of Games Publishing

From what I can find out on the Internet, sounds like there's no splitscreen whatsoever that will be in the game at launch. Maybe down the road, but I doubt that would happen. I don't like splitscreen, so it's no bother, but I know that it will definitely urk a few folks who want to have a friend over to play who may not have their own Xbone, etc.

Yeah I'd be pretty surprised if home console split screen cut altogether. I mean I was understanding for campaign, it needs to maintain 60fps visual fidelity, they can't really drop frames, and do what they wanted, but no split screen multi-player would just be a poor decision. Who knows, maybe it was just worded weirdly. I figured someone here might have heard something. But the full screen on dedicated servers probably means that it split screen is cut for MP modes too, not just campaign.

We're playing MCC Halo 3 coop with 2 consoles on the same network and it's loosing connection just like at launch, where that would bizarrely happen with split-screen play too. There's no explicit option for LAN like there was in the 360 versions of these games and anyone who isn't host sees lag. :(

Will Halo 5 have LAN support?

Still, Tsavo Highway middle to end is pure distilled Halo as far as Legendary cooperative campaigns go, and think Halo 3 has the best overall look, even now.

They've been saying for a while now that 60fps was the target for MP.

Iirc, the Xbox One doesn't support real LAN, so it will probably be like Halo MCC, where one Xbox One needs to be connected to Xbox Live and the others connected to that console.
Jeez.

The reasoning that you couldn't drop from 60 to 30 in campaign was more than just visual I believe, there would be "mechanical" issues, so it might be the same for multiplayer.

You took the one negative from all the positive in that extensive article and made a thread. You didn't even do the article Justice by giving any context

Yes but it's gaf so this thread is actually much longer than the news one.

Anyway yes, it's a bummer but 60fps had to take precedence. It's not just aesthetics- the entire simulation is built on that framerate.

I'll gladly take quality and consistency over splitscreen. Destiny is a great example of a play-with-your-friends FPS that doesn't suffer from a lack of local co-op.

See Stinkles' quote. The entire game is built from the ground up to be 60fps, sounds like.

If it really is completely reliant on 60fps and they just can't hit it then I guess it's understandable...

I think I'd rather take 60 over split screen. That said, I'd much rather they designed the game in a way which wasn't reliant on 60 so we could have 30fps split screen and 60fps single player.

Here's the tweet just in case. The original tweet was a picture of the pre-order just showing 1 player for Halo 5. Who knows. I mean campaign it's one thing where guests may not want to get into campaign, but sometimes people just want to play team slayer or BTB with friends who are over. On the one hand, would be great not to be partnered with 1 guy and his first time guest or something who usually drop neg bombs, but on the other, I can see quite a lot of people upset because local MP has been huge since CE. Then again, maybe they have data that shows split screen players were becoming a minority with MCC or Halo 5 beta data.

For how fun it is to play splitscreen, the terrible performance it can get on MCC makes me not surprised.

Side note: people love to make shitty hashtags don't they

You say that like it wasn't an early build.

Inb4 someone makes a stupid comment about how games can't be optimised before launch.

They can't, tho. Jumperz has proved it by repeating it until it became true, thus altering the fabric of the universe, and that other guy provided numbers demonstrating that Halo 5 is gonna clear 1.5 mil, tops. Halo is dad.

Not happy about this at all. My 8 year old son begs me to play halo with him all the time. One of my favorite things about halo is I can have a great time killing aliens alongside my son. 343 has taken this from me.

for a multiplayer game I will always prefer 60 fps to any graphics or resolution.

Played some Gears Ultimate Beta a while back and then hopped on Destiny. Oh god.... what is this a slideshow

I didn't want to make a thread, but I felt it's warranted. I hope we get actual discussion, and I did bring up how past threads were unnecessarily used to just dump on the game. Hopefully it works out better. I know I also was one of the few who was trying to calm the coop campaign users by saying they could still play MP split screen.

Will dropped items disappear right away like in Halo 4, or will they stick around like they did in all the other Halo games?

That was one of the worst things about the Halo 4 campaign.

Game is gonna be best selling exclusive to both consoles to date when it comes out. Especially if it gets a sweet ass console bundle like the Forza or Sunset bundles. Imagine a gun metal gray with Locke visor blue light or something.

Not much to discuss. It's just going to be a bunch of people complaining about how "incompetent" 343i is on one side and the other side defending the issue saying performance is king, it was a tradeoff, etc.
