Halo |OT12| Last One Out, Get the Lights

For me, fish tastes horrible, but I'm happy to see people enjoying fish. I generally avoid eating it, but I won't roll my eyes or recoil in horror hearing that people enjoy eating fish.

If you removed AA's, bloom and increased the movement speed, Reach was one hell of a fun game to play. I've played many great custom games in these settings.

The same will probably go for Halo 4, though I haven't tried it out yet.

Just jump into slayer pro and find out.

Reach is still terrible. I don't understand how anyone can think it's better than 4.
it has it's flaws, plenty of them. that said, it's simply more of a halo game then halo 4 will ever be. halo 4 might be a better game, whatever you say, but reach is a better halo.

Well, as I've outlined, it's not so much as Reach being better than Halo 4 (from a base gameplay perspective), but feeling more like Halo as a whole. In that respect it's understandable why a small minority would prefer to go back and play Reach, especially when you consider how much Reach came on with subsequent TUs (MLG Reach is really, really good).

Elements like the lack of any visual rank progression are a nuisance, but it's not a problem 4 is going to remedy any time soon.

You're right I'm too busy playing a fun game.

I'm not disputing that you can find the game fun, what I'm categorically denying is your false statement that this is simply 'Halo with COD drops', because that's a dense assessment of the game, and not one that deserves much attention, to be honest.

Just jump into slayer pro and find out.

Slayer Pro still has bullshit global ordnance and sprint. Plus I'm apparently bad at Halo 4 because I can't ever do well when I go into Slayer Pro (or any slayer playlist for that matter). In 3 and Reach, I could do pretty well but that just doesn't seem to happen in 4. I don't know if true skill is doing its thing but I'm not having fun when I'm being out played constantly.

if this is the future direction of Halo then I will not continue to play Halo. it's pretty simple. I don't want COD-lite with BRs.

I think there's a point, and a lot of people seem to be hitting it after Reach, where you can't spend another 2 or 3 years hoping a team with fundamentally different ideas than yours about what makes Halo great will suddenly turn everything around with patches and revamp the next game. shit ain't happening. whether people chill here to hang with the community and discuss bullshit is one thing, but I think people need to let go of traditional Halo at this point. that game is gone.

Try, 5 years ago...

Feeling the opposite. Maybe it's also partial to the map combos but it's been fairly underwhelming. While it wasn't my most idealistic version, I miss the hell out of Reach's Assault right now. Add in 1-flag, 1-bomb, and Plots/Territories even were a good mix in variety. Now it's just basic 2-flag (where the best map for this is probably Adrift, and that's just because everything else hasn't been very fun for it), Oddball (Oddball), and KotH (same as usual). Dominion is a neat idea, but falls short due to the amount of power weapons a team can group up.

I definitely see where you are coming from and agree with you 100 percent, but I still manage to have a blast somehow.

lol. Strip both down to its core in custom games. Halo 4 is the better Halo

Are people seriously whining that sprint should not be in the game?

lol

Some people seem to just find reasons to complain.

Why does it need to be in the game? It didn't in past Halo's, they managed fine without it, if they really wanted the spartans to be faster because of the bigger maps, just increase base movement speed.

Or hell, don't make 80% of the maps the size of the sahara desert.

It wasn't. Kazuma Jinnouchi I believe.

Do people seriously make posts like this?

lol

Some people just can't accept that people feel differently to they do.

I make a post like that because this thread is the Halo Community thread. Where people play and appreciate the game. As far as I know, this is not the thread where people should come in and linger around complaining about a game they apparently no longer play.

Half the people I see bitching all the time are also saying they do not play the game any more. Why would they stick around? Just to complain, because they apparently have nothing better to do.

If someone does not enjoy the game and does not want to play it, I simply do not understand why they do not give this thread up and go somewhere else. Play a different game. Don't just sit here and whine about it.

I understand that people feel differently than I do. I love the game. I loved Reach. I loved Halo 3, and Halo 2, and Halo Combat Evolved. I have loved every Halo game released. Some more than others, but I still continue to play them to this day. From what I've seen in this thread, people are dropping both the game and the series itself left and right, but somehow, someway, for some reason, continue to pop in just to let everyone know how much they hate it.

The people who like the game get it. Those people do not like it and do not play it. Stop posting complaints. It seemed like people had legitimate gripes toward the beginning, but now it seems like they are going for the smallest things possible, to complain just for the sake of complaining. It's ridiculous.

To add in more variety and allow people to play differently? I do not care how fast base movement speed was in the past Halo games, playing on maps like Blood Gulch/Sidewinder/other big maps sucked ass because terrible people would take vehicles out and get destroyed, then you are stuck with walking around a half mile from any battlefield and you have to walk for 30-40 seconds before you even see a guy. When a game lasts 8-10 minutes and you are looking to find people for 1-2 minutes of that, the amount of fun one can have goes down drastically.

Sprint helps a lot on big maps, and I welcome it.

My friend got to SR60, enlisted in a new specialisation and then it put him back to SR51 and locked up all his Pathfinder specialisation stuff. He reset and came back on and now he's back to SR59 and it's as if the exp from the game he ranked up on didn't count. Weird. He's got his Pathfinder shit back though :p

This is where your story falls apart.

Can you name some names?
It's the Halo Community thread, not just the Halo 3 thread and it's where people who've been a part of the series for years have hung out. HaloGAF has become its own beast, so I don't think you can say it should just be for those who are positive about the latest game.
Never mind the fact the people here want to love the game. We'd be over the moon to be over the moon with Halo 4, but some of us aren't enjoying it.

Frankly, if you've got a problem with certain people and their posting style, you're better off putting them on ignore than telling them what/how to post.

Also, if you're a developer you can set the price for your game or DLC (with very few guidelines) to whatever you want, and change it for sales whenever you want.

It'll be interesting to see if this will actually make MS stop charging $30,000 or so for each patch.

The only thing like before is that they'll still cert your patches and DLC so it's not instant like Steam, where you can deploy updates to your game whenever without having to send them through Valve.

So yeah.. Nintendo coming in hard on letting developers support their games post-release.

I'll add you once I can, probably next month

Now that I'm awake again.

Yup. 3rd parties are getting some nice breaks when it comes to supporting their games. That and hell it's Nintendo. They'll have some great games and already do. Also I'm enjoying it so far. I really like some of the stuff they've done with this console. I'm loving the DK mini game in Nintendoland. Hard but fun. Also the screen really kind of adds to a few of the games. Not to mention I can play several of them off screen on the pad without a TV even needing to be on.

hahahah the best track isn't by the composer.. LOOOL

Destiny can't come soon enough

knowing GAF that will be a disappointment too.

Good for you! We don't feel the same.

I'm sure as shit still loving it.

No, you need to understand them for what they are, purists.

I actually enjoy sprint on big maps. Using mobility in combination with ammo is great. However, sprint on smaller maps is just a recipe for sword sprinters, sprint melees :( and an overabundance of being assassinated. And the fact that you can't shoot while sprinting, disrupts combat and makes a lot of encounters awkward.

EDIT: And I definitely still play the game lol

Getting beat in oddball because the other team jumped into that glitched area on complex.

Its literally a 2 second fix. You put a forge box in front of the hole.

Why is this taking so long to fix.

I bet he's talking about Hoooooooooooooooooooch 07

You would be correct!

Aaaand it just happened again. We played another game, he got the last remaining exp again, enlisted again, and it reset him to SR51..again :/ Anyone heard of this happening before?

He's after resetting his xbox again, and it might have worked. He's staying as 61 now (after having to select a specialisation againnn) but his armour got reset to Recruit. I think it's good now, but dayum.

I very rarely experience those things. It's not very hard to kill a sword sprinter as he is running at you.

It's getting fixed monday.

Was it mentioned in the bulletin?

On a side note, I think Bungie's next IP will be good. They had a misstep with Reach, but I think as a whole the studio will produce something incredible. Something hopefully better than Halo.

Let's analyze what Sprint did to Halo 4.

Ruined control schemes - seriously, it fucked them up
Made maps too big
Made vehicle turrets get buffed
Gave sword guy even more power
Made Campaign missions with long ass hallways

That's off the top of my head. Sprint wasn't a simple addiction.

DOWN WITH SPRINT!

Let's analyze what Sprint did to Halo 4.

Whilst I'm not saying sprint's definitively bad (I don't like it, personally), I will say that I don't see the same level of analysis from people who're defending it, to what you've just done here. To say whether it's good or bad for the game, you really do need to look at what it's changed, as you've just done.

My personal feelings are that the sheer difference in base map size and shape isn't worth what sprint brings. Everything in Halo 4 is much bigger, and expansive, because of sprint, and that just adds to the overriding sense of loneliness, for me.

I'm some guy playing on my own, earning experience for myself, not bothered about the team, not knowing where the team are or aren't dying, sprinting around an expansive playing field earning my personal ordnance.
