I wish some of you would just go to COD Blops 2 and leave this game to people who won't beat the same bullshit into the ground, have well thought out posts on how to fix the problems (not bullshit you're making up and have zero knowledge of game programming) and people who enjoy the game.

it didn't happen in the reach thread I doubt it happen this time....

I'm about 5k credits from hitting 50. I'm thinking about Engineer because I think it would be a nice advantage knowing about the weapon drops. But then again, I have a pretty good grasp of global ordnance at the moment so I'm not sure how much it would help out. If anything, it will help me understand the system even more. I could go for tracker and get the personal ordnance re-roll. That would be a nice one to get.

Theirs 3 maps on the disc that arent being used. That map Ascent is pretty cool.

Something needs to be done. If i play Haven or Complex in infinity slayer again im gonna lose my mind.

Eng seems like a huge waste to me especially when you have to look at what you're going to replace.

For me the only one I really see useful is the vehicle one (Operator?) and the flinch one. For swapping between slayer and BTB.

But you know the game better than I do.

Where did you get all this info on specialisations?

I picked the Rogue one personally, flinch is a really shitty mechanic that shouldn't be in Halo, like ever. I want to know what person/people preach for aim acceleration and flinch to be in Halo.

Dat rouge specialization.

Seriously though, how much does it lessen the flinch?
Edit: HAHA, caught you before ninja edit. ;)

What in my post was about liking the game as opposed to squashing discussion of the game's design on the grounds that "it's ruining the game for me."

You always say you're talking game design, but the closest I've ever seen you approach that claim is some invalid comparison to chess. Otherwise, you call other people's posts stupid, delusional, etc, and then you type up some hyperbolic facsimile of what you feel are those stupid, delusional posts.

Talking game design requires some actually cogent points. Which is beyond your current snarky gimmick. (that is old hat around here, anyways)

This is less an invitation to make those points - which have no doubt been identified and discussed at length, long ago - and more of a refutation of your claim of talking game design.

that aim acceleration is not adjustable in a first person shooter in 2012 is really bad; and yes I know no other console shooters offer the ability to change acceleration but it's a big deal and it's not hard to fix

You can slide down them, but no, I've not seen a per match basis for them yet.

Edit: found it, click on matchmaking stats and history, then pick the match and scroll all the way down.
I think I'm already looking at that, but it doesn't actually tell you which medal you are comparing against everyone else. Observe. I see the numbers, but I have no idea what medal it's for, making the whole chart kind of useless. It's like, wow he got 1 unknown medal and I got 3. YES!! :)

EDIT:
In other news, I'm 11 assists away from my purple visor. It will be mine!

I made an effortpost once when I was arguing about something with Tashi and he posted something like "didn't read but I disagree lol" so I'm not sure why I'm expected to provide anything better than the aforementioned flippant remark

343, please take Crapnarok out of the KOTH playlist. Pretty please! I finally find a playlist I really enjoy, and half the time I end up playing BTB :/

I must be the only one who remembers starting games in previous games with uneven teams. Only in those games you were SOL because there was no JIP.

IDK if you were directing any of that towards my post but I'm not talking about people leaving at the start of the game or dropping while the game loads. No. MM starting a game as 4v1 is complete BS.

JIP is obviously a good thing if it works, but starting an uneven match because the game didn't want to find another person is nonsense. It should just stay in "Searching.." until those spots fill up. Seems like the priority of MM is to just get a game going then have people join into lobbies.. The consequence of this is that people join mid-game, get discouraged, quit before the match ends, and the same cycle repeats itself.

And Instant Respawn does not belong in Halo. Maybe in BTB Slayer if you spawn at the opposite side of the map...

-EDIT-

Shut up Egghead!

lol 343 should seriously retcon that line..

Go in Capture the Flag, Join in Progress, Adrift CTF 2-0 scored already for the enemies.

Great

Then the team leading sees more people joining so they bunker down in their impenetrable base. Rinse/repeat.

Adrift CTF with 5 caps is lame..

For the most part, they think you'll enjoy it if you enjoyed Firefight, which pretty much is chalked up to the one similarity I mentioned. He still implies they're designed to be very different, and they are. No implications of a replacement that people keep pegging it as (including reviewers).

Part of the problem is they've replaced Firefight with a mode that bears strong similarities. It's a four player cooperative game against AI, set on mostly small battlefields where we're fighting waves of repeatedly spawning AI, for about the same amount of time as a round of Firefight. So it's natural people are going to compare them.

Spartan Ops has potential to go in a very different direction, but so far it has yet to really distinguish itself. Which makes what we lost with Firefight - namely, any semblance of customization - harder to take.

Thing is, I think Firefight with some of Halo 4's features would be pretty great. Personal ordnance and custom load outs would be awesome in Firefight.

Other then the abundance of power weapons in this game, I can't really complain about much.

And please let their be haven and abandon in team snipes.

Also, how does the progression system work once I complete a specialization? Do I prestige and lose everything or does it continue? Not sure if the grind to complete all specializations is going to be fun

It's just 10 extra levels with some more unlocks.

Great

I've got that beat.

Joined a game of CTF on Valhalla 2.0 (or whatever it's called) and the score is 4-0 and the enemy had both Mantises and were driving back the final flag to win the game.

I can quite honestly say that JiP has put me in a game where my team is already losing more times than I had people quit on my side and it was unrecoverable (At least in Reach anyway)

So is there a page somewhere that includes information on how to unlock everything? I have no clue what the difference is between 'Proficient' and 'Master' is for most commendations, or which commendations unlock which items. (For that matter, I don't know if 'Distinguished' is above 'Expert' or vice versa. And how many kills in what modes give me which.)

I don't remember this stuff being anywhere NEAR this opaque in Reach. :(

I played too much IS on launch week. CTF has some issues but it's probably the best playlist for me besides the dying KotH one. No instant respawn makes the game play so good!

Will in reach none of that mattered

Some of these helmets would look great if they had actual visor bits on them you could customize the colour of... if your going to black out parts of it anyways, give us the power, we all have that goddamn black visor colour by then.

In-game you can look at commendations and it will have a level (I think assists have 7 different levels and it'll say which one you're on, like [5/7])

If every Halo played exactly the same, people would say "bah, this is getting old, it's always the same, why would I want to buy the new one if the old one is the same game?...". The introduce some things new for the franchise, everybody says that's not Halo anymore. No matter what they do, people would still complain.

COD seems to be doing fine.

Really, all were asking for is a playlist with classic Halo. Not the whole game to be changed.

Okay - you're right, in Reach Commendations didn't unlock items in the armory.

However, I guess I was making two separate comments - one, that I don't know what unlocks what, and two, that Commendation progress is really opaque. In Reach, I knew at a glance where I was on my way to the next level, and what the next level was.

I agree with you.

Most games that have this kind of unlock system tell you what the unlock is and what the unlock condition is on both the rewards screen and on the commendation screen. In Halo 4 the commendations themselves don't tell you what they are tied to. Its not a big issue, but the unlock system is not very clear. I am hoping someone puts a chart together online sometime.

Someone has gone through and listed all the medals, found it earlier, this stuff should all be on waypoint.com.

Thats no surprise, JiP just works in that way sadly. I hope it doesn't return in Halo 5, I also hope they tighten it up so that a game cant start until at least both teams are full and you can opt out of JiP in a Halo 4 TU.
