Yeah, I'm finally wrapping my head around what they did with the spawn system this time around, but buddyspawning has an absurd weight to it now. A example of how it can be a negative: we were testing Computron's map in a custom. People instantly respawning inside the base would buddy weight their instantly spawning teammates to the inside the base, creating a self-made circle of spawncamping. So you can be negatively spawned somewhere because one person keeps mashing X.

the option is nice to have. (though not necesaruy the best choice, it's nice to have extra control.) A skilled team could all decide to time their respawns and break the cycle.

I told everyone in the game to stop mashing X and shortly after it seemed to ease up on the spawn trap. It would still be nice to have per map control of spawn weights down to the individual factors.

Not being able to see the score when you click Party Details is pretty disappointing.. How am I supposed to know if I should wait for my friend or not? If they even come..

Just got through SR-49 with the double XP codes that I got the other day (Thanks again FyreWulff and MrGreencastle :D ). Only took 4 Spartan Ops and a CTF game to get through it.

Enlisted into the Tracker specialisation by accident... Wanted to get Pioneer out of the way first :s

So guys, what's the easiest way to get MLG settings in Halo 4? What was used in MLG Dallas?

Also, bsangel very awesomely sent me a few codes to give out at the LAN I'm going to tonight. Gotta love that interaction <3

I'm also online atm if anyone wants a few games.

I second this request; seen some remakes of the Pit etc used in MLG Customs which I would like to download. Not sure if the file sharing works yet but searches on Halo 4 have yielded nothing.
 
It really needs to be faster the amount of time it takes for you to recover from sprinting in order to shoot again. In a game where shields take 6 seconds to begin recharging and an extra 2 secs to fully recharge (or whatever it is), and how easy it is to escape a battle.. it should be faster to start shooting again. Any of those little delays can be pretty frustrating in a game that's clearly trying to be played at a faster pace ;\

Low gravity

Wireless internet really buggy tonight. Can't even consistently load GAF let alone play Halo. Gaaaah, I hate staying home on a Friday night

It really needs to be faster the amount of time it takes for you to recover from sprinting in order to shoot again. In a game where shields take 6 seconds to begin recharging and an extra 2 secs to fully recharge (or whatever it is), and how easy it is to escape a battle.. it should be faster to start shooting again. Any of those little delays can be pretty frustrating in a game that's clearly trying to be played at a faster pace ;

is halo 4 sprint recovery slower than in reach? i mean, overall aiming doesn't feel as responsive as in reach but in regards to sprint maybe its the same but I'm so disappointed with other aspects that im expecting things like this.

Man I love JiP. I was playing Regicide earlier and everyone else bar me and one other dude but by then the game was starting up. Lobby filled up mid game in about a minute.

I think the pros outweigh the cons so much too. I mean, yeah ok, joinging at the end of the game sucks but then you're set for a few games in a row. My only wish was that the lobby time between matches was extended. Like, if there was a 15 second transition before the next map was decided so people could come and go as they please, that'd be pretty sweet. As it is though, the system works so beautifully.

I've only seen a handful of blackscreens too which is pretty awesome. I was in that regicide game and didn't even notice the other players joining. I think maybe there are a few issues with the criteria for games to be joinable but for the most part, I think the system adds so much more consistency to full party games than any other Halo (obviously).

the situation you just described is due to the new system. so the huge pro makes up for the con of far too many uneven starts introduced in 4 lol.

I totally disagree man - it sucks so much when I join a game in progress, wait for it to end so I can get a good match only for the people to all quit and start the next game uneven anyway. It also seems to me like games can go from playable to laggy with no notice if someone with a bad connection gets in halfway through.

JiP is probably not so bad if you play in FFA or in a team, but When I play alone or with just a few others, getting slotted into matches where I am put up against a full party to replace quitters happens all too often.

I could make a long hate filled post about JiP but ill do that another time. The situation you had in regicide is a good one for sure, but I think in team games especially JiP has a very negative effect.

Going up against 4 players and beating those 4 players is satisfying, winning the game because the other team carousels through players is no fun for me.

I know I bitch a lot and bitching about winning is probably pretty stupid, but I have no fun when I dominate this game because usually I press the back button and it turns out the other team suddenly has different/ less players. There is no team based gameplay - I don't feel like I beat anyone - its just about racking up spartan points and grinding ranks. Remove JiP, punish quitting - and you suddenly have two teams of 4 playing against eachother again.

Just had the closest game of CTF on Valhalla I've ever had. It was going into overtime and the enemy team had the flag and was running up the field. I take out at least 6 dudes, use the laser and decimate the flag carrier right near their base. All was looking well until the Mantis came back up and I was overwhelmed.

Dat moment when you see the flag get taken in the last 10 seconds and they score. :(

I read this a lot, but what if you get put in against a full team with rubbish team mates? Or a host on the other side of the world? Staying in those games isn't really a wise move so you have to play the JiP lottery again.

Does anyone know how the the game chooses hosts btw? I'm still baffled as to how it thinks, out of the 40,000 players in the playlist, someone in another continent is the best host for me. It makes the game nigh on unplayable and it happens multiple times every night I'm on :(

Your problem seems to stem largely from people quitting. JiP is a counter to quitting. People were on here all the time during Reach complaining about having gotten quit bans or whatever they were. If quitting were to be completely eradicated, there simply would not be any reason to have JiP. I totally want quitting to carry more weight but that really hasn't worked well in any Halo game in the past. After all, people will switch off their routers so their connection frops or they have to attend some emergency taking place outside of the game so they shut off their console or they just dashboard out. That's why JiP is needed.

Quitters ruin games but at least JiP more often than not can fill up those spots.

My problem is with JiP being the solution to quitting. It brings about its own fair share of problems. I think there are other ways of handling quitting.

Edit: I don't believe JiP is meant as a solution to quitting, but rather something that accepts quitting as something that's going to happen.
 
JiP should be in fun gametypes ala Regicide, Infinity Slayer but it should be disabled in objective games like CTF, KotH tbh.

What's your reasoning for that? If someone quits out in the lobby as the match starts, that's just how the cookie crumbles? I'm a man down the entire game?

Take inspiration from LoL and Dota. Increase the quit bans to where they have meaning.

I don't have the biggest problem with JiP, but I think they should still strongly discourage quitting.

People complained an awful lot with Reach's quit bans as lenient as they were.

I would also like some kind of quitting penalty, but it seems to go against the sort of pick up and play mentality of Halo 4. They reward you if you stay with game completion bonuses but they seemingly don't care if you want to quit out and in my mind that is because they now have a system capable of replacing you.

If Halo 3 had JiP, I'd like to think the consensus would be to limit that to Social unranked hoppers because Ranked would just mess things up with a shift in player skills. I ultimately view all of Halo 4's hoppers, at least in their current form, as unraned, social hoppers. CTF doesn't carry the same weight as it would have in Halo 3, which is a shame, don't get me wrong.

Objective games, no.

They also need to add an announcement that enemies have JIPed, not just allies (Teammate Joined!)

Would be nice to know when your teammate leaves. Was playing Ragnarok BTB yesterday. All of a sudden we're getting spawn trapped like mad with the banshee. I'm thinking "where the fuck is the team shot DMR? We can shred this banshee in no time."

Check the score board, it's now 8 vs 3.... for a full five minutes before any other Teammates join.

EDIT - Can a title update save the sliding population numbers? Already, consistently, under 200k users per day. How long did it take Reach to slip this low?

And how long until Major Nelson releases "most played" numbers again. I seem to recall a minor conspiracy around the time Reach was launched in that Microsoft curiously stopped reporting the most played list for a few months (due to Reach not being #1).
 
I guess I don't see why Objective in Halo 4 is a sacred thing. If the match starts and I'm down 2 people, why shouldn't JiP be implemented?
