Slayer Pro removed. Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
Say what? I was looking forward to playing more of that soon, too bad I could only have fun in it with friends..

Really?
Fuck that, I've got no motivation to even play the game then.
To get to our preferred number of playlists, we will be removing Team Slayer Pro on Monday. We plan to bring it back next year, after we have time to fine-tune it and make it a more optimal competitive experience. Well talk more about that when the time gets closer and that goes for Double Team, Grifball, the addition of more small maps into Matchmaking and the other things we have planned for early 2013 as well.

ROPFLMAO. So they removed another list that the hardcore fans loved. Way to go 343. I do applaud that. At least you're shitting or getting off the pot. They've at this point made it clear which way they're going. I'm ok with that too because at least they're truly going a direction now.
Infinity slayer for all. lmao.
Well, Infinity Slayer is the most popular list, and the population in Pro has been very low for a few weeks now. You can see how they might interpret those numbers. Personally I like Slayer Pro, but the lack of motion tracker confuses my brain (I'm like the anti-Tashi). If there was a playlist with those settings and motion tracker then I don't think I'd play anything else.

God damn... How many bans are we gonna get?
Prior to 4, I haven't been completely on either side of the radar/no radar discussion. With Instant Respawns and Sprint, I think you almost need radar, otherwise it's too easy for someone you just killed to run up behind you and beat you down.
Maybe this just speaks to my situational awareness or inability to evolve my playstyle, but it has led to many deaths on Haven in Slayer Pro.
Can we get a mod in here to change Karl2177's name to 'The Karl'? Ghaleon hath decreed it.what the Karl sees
Played some Halo with a couple of friends last night and when i suggested that we don't play Infinity Slayer but rather some delicious Team Regicide they had no clue that that playlist existed.
Surely they can't be the only ones that didn't know that the playlist was there? If we could get a little bump up menu for Team Regicide, people seem to be missing out, apparently.
Let's not kid ourselves: if Slayer Pro was the first item on the playlist browser, it could have a bigger population than Infinity Slayer.
I can agree to that, but I still think it should be back to good old 25m. 40m is just too much, you can't flank Solace without being picked up by someone on the other side.Nah. I'm with you there. The playstyle that 343 has created really does need that radar. Now if they ever do decide to implement a more traditional playlist with respawn times, no sprint, etc then I could see no radar easily.
So removing Team Slayer Pro to make it better for you all, why is that bad? I guess they could have left it for the time being, but then again it's one of the lowest populated playlists.
I'm fine with them rotating out playlist to get fresh stuff in. Sounds like they are having Bravo re-tool Slayer Pro anyways.
I think you're kidding yourself.
Let's not kid ourselves: if Slayer Pro was the first item on the playlist browser, it could have a bigger population than Infinity Slayer.
No it wouldn't. People want to play Infinity Slayer because it's chock full of random bullshit that anyone can JiP and get at least a few kills with a very big gun. This is apparently the crowd that Halo 4 was courting in terms of new players, and that's the population that they've pulled. If you moved IS to the bottom of the list, people would still flock to it.Let's not kid ourselves: if Slayer Pro was the first item on the playlist browser, it could have a bigger population than Infinity Slayer.
If you want to be a jackass go for it, I had legitimate points. The "oh Slayer Pro was what all the hardcore played!" note is complete B.S. as it's always been one of the lowest populated playlists.
Furthermore they hired Bravo to scope the competitive offering in Halo 4. They now remove the Pro playlist to let him work his magic, and the 300 people that did play it get upset. Sure, they could have left it as is while he built new rules, but this way they can make room for new playlists.
Some of you can fuck off with this "he only says it to get hired" bullshit. Nothing I post here will get me hired at 343, that's not why I say it. Every damn thing I post has a backing and an argument for the side I choose. Some people would rather just say "oh you just want to work at 343, so you'll say anything" to avoid having a legitimate discussion on my points, and that's just a crock of shit.
I think it's as simple as it being the principle of the thing for most people, since it's symbolically the only classic list. Plus it smarts a little bit worse because the cynic in all of us expected it, not to mention for the sake of a car ad.
The problem I had with the classic list was that it's so different from all the other lists but it is limited in what it offers. If you resign yourself to playing only classic you are stuck with 4v4 team size and Slayer only. One of the strengths of Halo to me has always been the wealth of options. I don't only want to play Slayer on certain map sizes but even more than that I don't want to be jumping between a bunch of lists where the rules change drastically.
To that end I only played Slayer Pro a little bit and stuck to the other modes. Now I am barely playing the game at all (and right after the first DLC release) no less.
I think moving pro slayer up on the playlist order would actually help the pro slayer playlist., but I don't think the population numbers would magically skyrocket to what the infinity lists look like. Also, get rid of the name "PRO SLAYER" lol. Talk about a major do-not-enter-this-playlist name for anyone new or casual to the game.
The numbers for pro slayer were pretty pathetic. If 343 keeps good on their word and bring it back with some attempts at improving that particular game type, I'm okay with it being removed temporarily. Maybe static weapon drops, respawn timers, the removal of global ordnance, red X death markers, and some smaller maps will accompany its return. Anything is possible. Rite guys? RITE GUYS?!
You do know that every playlist is limited to one game mode right? On the other hand, kylej's tyrannical rule has brought us the mockery of developer design, copious amounts of salt, siglemic, girls in yoga pants and shoutouts to porn stars.

Hey 343! Borderlands 2 just updated, and their update page has valuable information about every patch so far. A page like this would be perfect for Halo 4. It's simply a blog post that is being updated, and it's on an easy to find page through their support.

Ah yeah that makes sense, depending on the perspective. I think for most in this thread, the new changes that Halo 4 brought were jarring. So in that light, pro slayer was a godsend.Right but what I mean is that mode was significantly different. It didn't allow loadouts at all so you stop expecting things like Boltshots or changes in base mechanics. Basically it comes down to Pro needed to be a more significant part of the game for me to be interested in it. It needed to have more modes and team sizes otherwise you spend a couple hours playing pro with 3 friends, one more signs on and now you are on other maps as well as having to deal with a bunch of new systems you aren't acclimated to. Short term it's no big deal but long term it is just going to cause frustration.
If it were really the best playlist, it would have a population of more than 3 digits. It's no surprise, but it's still stupid. The best playlist got removed from the game.
The number of people who blindly stumble into the first three playlists is astounding. Especially given everything is on the top level in the hierarchy now, rather than buried under sub menus like playlists previously were.
As others have pointed out, SWAT's the last item on the list, and often has the third- or fourth-highest population of ALL lists.Let's not kid ourselves: if Slayer Pro was the first item on the playlist browser, it could have a bigger population than Infinity Slayer.
did someone seriously say running away from a firefight is for babies? give me a break. with instant respawn in most playlists and a much more powerful AR the smartest choice IS to retreat until your shields are 100% again, or you're simply giving the player you've just outplayed in his previous life a cheap easy kill with his spray-n-pray AR while your shields are down, even if only slightly.
as to sprint slowdown against fire, I have no problem with that. it helps counter sprint-melee or sprint-sword/shotty situations, but If I'm retreating it's usually for a good reason, and most of the time it's because the very player I just killed is back for revenge, no issue with that idea except in 4 with instant respawn it usually means my shields are still down and they have an unfair advantage. it doesnt mean I'm a bad player, newsflash, staying alive and dying less actually helps your team win.
