Yeah this banning thing is pretty stupid and they deserve a lot of flak - but discrediting their intelligence is just as stupid.
Now the marketing and pr team who made up this 14 day buy and play thing - they are the stupid ones
it's not the live service teams fualt that they are having to mess around with stuff they probably wouldn't normally touch just because the pr guys made up stupid program's to save face.
If you are just talking about the general state of multiplayer then sadly I think it's by design pretty bad design!

Halo 4 is awesome. Screw the haters. Sure there are issues, and it's not my favorite in the series, but it's significantly more fun than reach ever was. I've already surpassed my games played on reach in Halo 4.

On a completely unrelated note, I didn't bring my Xbox home with me for Christmas Break. Figured I could spend a little time away from it, and the time I'd spent playing it at home could and should be spent with my family.
Anyhoo, I did manage to bring my 3DS home. Picked up Mario Kart 7 and New Super Mario Bros. 2 this weekend from Toys R Us (sweet deals on games, by the way). These games are just... fun. Sometimes it's nice to just sit back and play a game that's sole purpose is to have fun.

What I mean is the 3DS is more portable and easy to pick up. I can chill in the living room (or anywhere, really) and chat with the family, friends, etc. It's just easily accessible. I can play it for ten minutes, pause where I'm at, throw it in my pocket, and pick it back up whenever I feel like it, right where I left off.
I'm a console gamer through-and-through, but the disadvantage of playing a console is 1.) you have to have a television, 2.) you have to remain stationary while playing it (you're limited to wherever your TV is), and 3.) it's a little more difficult to pry yourself away from a console game after ten minutes of playing (I'd say a normal gamer spends at least one hour per play session).
It's good to get a little different gaming flavor every now and then. Plus my 3DS/DS backlog is crazy long.

I usually just block off all gaming during the holidays if I visit or family is visiting.
Me too most of the time. I'm on break from school, so I have a couple weeks here to relax and chill. Feels good to just hang out on the back porch and stomp on some Goombas or read a book.

So uh...is this a new thing? I don't remember seeing this when I last checked challenges the other day, and the rest have not updated so it can't just be a "new this week" kind of thing.
Are the Waypoint challenges going to go away when thisshameless cross-promotion totally legitimate competition is over? (Probably not, but it's interesting that the first Waypoint challenge to appear is tied into their marketing deal with Virgin.)
