So from what I gather the consensus is that it's not worth it to turn on the xbox for these new maps right?
I've played them about 2 times each with a variety of gametypes. Please note I need more play time and gametype experience before really making informed comments but here are my initial impressions.
The maps are designed well enough from a flow and graphical stand point but they are really big once again. It felt like I was out of the action and sprinting more than usual. I also wasn't using mobility so I had to sprint two or three times to get back into the action of a battle, join up with team mates or reach an objective/area.
These maps promote vehicles or camping around one location/objective, neither of which are my preferable play style. I can totally understand creating large vehicle maps but doing that for all 3 and all game types as well just seems a little overkill when they are all in one map pack.
Whatever happened to maps that scale based on the number of players? It would be easy to implement really and would help create a duality to basically all maps and gametypes. Create a symmetrical core with small player numbers then unlock a larger asymmetrical surrounding part or upper/lower levels etc.
It just seems like poor decision making for this map pack but I guess the other map pack will cater for differing tastes?
Personally I'm not feeling extraction, it's just another territories derivative. It's no where near assault or CTF quality. It's basically dominion without the base upgrades etc. Also whatever happened to some one sided alternating round objectives? Again it goes to pacing.
All 3 maps feel like BTB sprint or camp choices to me, that or roam in a vehicle and get kills. Maybe I'll change my impression the more I play or play with a regular team as I was just going in solo last night with a population of approx. 400 only.
