If this was the plan all along, then why wasn't it talked about? Not a very effective try-before-you-buy scheme if the people that were downloading it thought that they were subverting the price tag. Not to mention the official tweets that said "The mistake is on us - keep the maps!" or something to that effect.

Ok, so they will still be able to play local or custom games.

I'm cool with that. Honestly, I think that's how it should be: Free initially, download on release as a demo period to test the maps. Then, after that period ends, either make people pay up to continue to play online, or pay up to use the maps, period.

For me personally I have always disliked forge playlists.

On the other hand MLG settings have always been fun.

It sucks that MLG get away with being so blase about Halo - but ultimately for me they do bring the fun.

On a serious note, they did this mistake in Reach, too, with Armor Lock, but they realized, that it is game breaking. Wished they would have removed the jetpack, too.

Let's see what MLG in Halo 4 will look like. Hoping for the best, but I'm not setting up my hopes too high.

These MLG settings look pretty dumb. Storm rifle as secondary? Personal ordnance? Why can't we have Halo 3 or Halo Reach like MLG?

I've never liked jetpack. Destroys map movement.

They just said that in the stream too.

My thoughts are that players should be focused on the geometry and navigating the geometry. Jetpack makes the entire volume of the space playable, which makes it less predictable as to where enemies are and where they will be.

Well if they make it as a personal ordnance that kind of places in that "power weapon" tier. Much like what we saw with Armor abilities in Reach MLG. Sanctuary had 2 jet packs are pick ups, one for each team. That map played great.

Sure, but Sactuary didn't really have any spaces where jetpack broke the map. Depends on the map I guess. My experience is that jetpack breaks maps like Solace where verticality really exposes most of the map.


On weapon drops...

Perhaps they should consider a drop recon loadout so at least each team has the option to determine where drops are occuring, if they don't opt for static spawns. Create some player roles. I actually really enjoy calling out what weapon is about to drop and where it is going to drop. Our team has benefited greatly from it, especially during objective matches. Can anyone confirm if they are going static? Seems static to me.

Solace really? I don't find jetpack to be a problem on that map really. When it does, it's the maps lack of symmetry that proves to be a bigger problem.

Well I think they're making static weapon spawns for MLG so that's not an issue. Agreed on drop recon. It's a great armor mod.

Of course no game ships perfect and they all get patches but I just don't like how it's, "well CoD did this, what did Halo do?" CoD has more patches than Halo!!! Is this not the first CoD game to have ranks that actually matter and tries to match people of like skill together? Yea, where were they 6 titles ago. They really listen to their fans! Not saying Bungie/343 have been perfect and they have definitely done some mind boggling shit but let's not act like CoD is the fucking poster child for anything.
