Say I went out and bought a sports car on the day it was released. It was slick, pretty, and praised by critics.
I seal the deal with the dealer, take my keys, and hop into the new ride. The interior is stunning. But wait, the radio doesn't work. The engine doesn't ignite. The steering wheel doesn't actually do anything. I get out of the car and walk back to the salesman to give a piece of my mind.
I tap him on the shoulder; he gives no response. I walk in front of him and speak. My words are ignored. Upset, I start to search for another employee. "Wait", I hear behind me. "Was there a problem with your car?"
"Yeah, the thing's a total mess. What can you do about it?"
The salesman sheepishly replies: "Uh...I can give you a sweet hood ornament."
"But the car....it's a piece of trash. I paid full price for this, can't you fix it or something? While I appreciate a nice ornament just as much as anyone, I'd like a car in working condition first."
"Alright, then. We'll fix up the car and have her back to you soon."
3 months later, and no word from the dealership, I confront the salesman again.
"How's my car coming along?"
"Not bad, we put on new paint and threw on some nice new tires. We put the hood ornament on as well."
"...Did you fix the engine? The transmission? Anything?"
"Yeah, we're working on it I guess; but how about those sweet tires, huh? And that paint? This car's got a little something for everybody now!"
I leave, file a chargeback with my bank, and pick up a Prius.
edit: oh lawd, bottom of page, now even less people can read/care about this
