What maps did you play on?
It was a solace variant. Stick detonator spawns wall side perch and rail gun sun side perch. Bottom is completely blocked off. There was a nice jump made to the rail gun spawn and there was also a speed boost there. Really flowed well.
That Solace variant made me realize nothing could make that map good. So much garbage cover and shit to get stuck on, belongs in Gears.

Yea I wish you could remove all of those boxes and crates. I also wish the bases were symmetrical. Map had huge potential.

1-50 DRAMATICALLY increased boosting. Which in turn, decreased its relevance. This is not arguable. That said we are thinking of ways to let players understand relative skill levels without increasing abuse based on that metric.

I can see why many want such a thing, but I never really cared one way or another about ranks.
Yup but the best part is you benefit from ranks even when you don't care! Cause you get matched with people your skill and not level 50's in groups trolling against kids in social. Plus it encourages proper play.

But if the matching was based on trueskill and the ranking system is based on trueskill whats the difference? Actual question

That's why i moved the bases to the side balconies of the map. In Flag games Solari is symmetrical. It wasn't really designed for Doubles Slayer since players will generally gravitate to their favourite (Railgun) base anyway. The next version addresses this issue in a unique way, if it ever gets deployed.Both bases should have been like the waterfall base. Then it'd just need most of the stuff in the middle removed and some high ground on the sides. Dunno why it had to be asymmetrical.

The logistics and scheduling of getting 20 people on at once for a huge game like that is insane.

The two main problems with Slayer Pro on that map (other than the default Solace issues) are dominance of the Railgun balcony, and lack of map movement caused by dominance of the Railgun balcony.
I solved both issues using an unconventional method (thanks to Over), while keeping the Railgun on the balcony where it belongs. Hopefully it stays intact through test.
Both of these made me think of how we got the Global Ordnance being random. 343's reasoning was that players didn't know where the power weapons were and when they were spawning, so the better players kept dominating.
What was their solution? Randomized Global Ordnance + Infinity gametypes. <-- Solves nothing and only serves to frustrate players.

I would like to think Halo fans have been with the franchise for a long time and are aware of the PR jibber jabber we're still being fed. Bungie did it for years, but it seems people in general are more conscious of it now. Halo fans have been in a rough place for quite some time..
*Tangent: It also baffles me how they add so much to the HUD (+10 HEADSHOT) and take away useful information like deathmarks and who. is. holding. the. OB/Flag. It's almost like they think Halo players are dumb and don't know that you should already Escort the ball guy in OB so they emphasize it by only having ESCORT visible at all times unless you point directly at their body with your reticle. It's insulting, really.
The problem in a nutshell. Can't let skill triumph anymore. Every schmuck must win even if we have to fuck up gameplay and balance massively.
Why not just roll dice instead?
