Some guy on something awful played Mario 64 with only his feet. These kids are weird, but I love them and they did an awesome job this week

Super Metroid run > Everything else.

They officially crossed the million dollar mark right before the end of the Chrono Trigger run!

They were getting 60k/hour near the end. Just amazing.
That's nice to see that much money raised for charity. I only watched the halo 2 thing, anyone got links for the rest of it?

The UNSC would have had hundreds of Huragok after First Strike.

(Edit: Ascendant Justice's crew complement was 3000, with the majority being Huragok - 100 Elites and a light company of grunts.)

Where are you guys getting the hundreds number? Remember the Chief got back to Earth on Gettysburg not Ascendant Justice. They took some Huragok but not hundreds or thousands.

The other point with ODST was that Virgil knew what the Covenant were looking for--it's indercut by the fact players did since there were on Delta Halo but it still makes sense.

As for not acknowledging the events of First Strike that's entirely Bungie's fault. They treated the books as second class citizens until basically Reach.

What happened to the scout helmet? Heck the blue solider doesn't even have a visor most of the halo 4 armor is ugly i mean look at the infiltrator variant:
I knew the blue one was a girl from the legs that say's a lot, also whats up with her torso?

Didn't realize that 343 had brought Wahrer aboard. Congrats man!
Must have joined up after doing your tattoo :p.

Great to hear about those speedruns, it always makes me feel warm and fuzzy in my heart when the gaming community, with it's constant petty arguments, it can band together and do something like this for a good cause.

Escalation is good despite the art.

Seriously, just fire the artist for the next run. They have no place tainting Halo media with seriously sub-standard hand spasms disguised as art.

343, if you want folks to believe you respect the universe, you need to actually respect it by trusting it to those with certain higher standards than the Escalation artist. Either you are rushing the artist resulting in sub-standard shit or he's not up to par.

I keep thinking Palmer is wearing a toilet seat as her chest piece.

Remember when Halo comics didn't look like ass?

That is not a one-off panel either.

Is that some Halo-Matrix crossover?

Not quite.

Also Spartan II's > Spartan IV's.

Dunno what 343 was thinking when they brought in the Fours, other than "Well they act like undisciplined dudebros with terrible personalities - maybe our target audience can relate?".

Funny, the Spartans in Halo Wars are probably the best representation of Spartans as a whole, in the field, acting like a team, in any media.

The Spartan IVs are just awful. They're little more than garden-variety frontline infantry at this point.

I think it was 343 trying to make them more grounded and maybe relateable. These guys are just normal soldiers, the best of the best that have survived the war and given special medicines, drugs and power armour.

They aren't special. They aren't iconic. They are fodder, rainbow power ranger stand ins. That's where 343 have failed story wise. They took something iconic and made it common. Lessened it. I look at a game like Spartan Assault and I don't think it as one bad ass warrior against a army, but a terrible marketing vehicle for a terrible character no one likes shoehorned in.

Palmer isn't a badass like the Chief. Neither are the Fours. They failed experiments in marketing and should be thrown into the sun along with Requiem.

It's sad to think we'll probably never get to see Master Chief's glorious return to earth. They stopped Halo 4 right when it was going to happen, and two years later I guess 343 already moved on from that.

So glad their returning mark IV is the best looking armor as well, actual competent spartan's will be a shock after IV. Maybe have the IV's be actual characters not poor imitations of Spartan II's and III's.
Is what I think of as spartan's not the IV's

Marvel art is so much better than dark horse.

Exactly. What made the Spartans special was their uniqueness. That was the entire crux of Chief's character throughout the original trilogy. There was this one of a kind soldier that stood taller and fought harder than anyone else, making him the most important person alive. Knowing that when playing campaign felt awesome, that you were the most powerful person in the game. Now that any poorly-written doofus can wear armor, that sense of awe has been taken away. At least for me.

I wish the Spartan 4's where at least supposed to be tactical and smart. The kind of stuff you hear modern day seal teams pull would be amazing to watch/ play. Yet for some reason we have people running at the enemy firing shotguns in the cut-scenes.

What? Even the art sucks now? How the hell have they managed to screw that up? What is the story like for Escalation?

It is, essentially, Spartan Ops season 2. It continues after Frankie threw Requiem into a sun.

Issue 1 Official summary:

The UNSC flagship Infinity is assigned escort duty for a diplomatic mission between the Arbiter and a powerful chieftain of the Brute tribes—but when a rogue Covenant group attacks, it's going to take all the firepower the Spartans have to keep the delegates alive!

Issue 2 Official summary:

As Sarah Palmer fights to get the Arbiter and the Brute Ambassador to safety, Captain Lasky sneaks behind enemy lines to reestablish communications with the UNSC Infinity. Their plans for escape are jeopardized, however, by a turncoat in their midst!

Issue 3 Official summary:

Commander Palmer confronts the traitor who has betrayed her team, as the Covenant closes in on their position. With time running out, Lasky is forced to make a costly sacrifice to save the peace delegation from the impending attack. ”

Issue 4 Official summary:

The UNSC Infinity is ambushed by an unexpected enemy while on a mission to rescue a damaged civilian freighter. Across the galaxy, an undercover Lasky enlists the help of an old friend in rooting out a spy inside the UNSC. ”

Issue 5 Official summary:

Missing for thirty years, a legendary UNSC warship is discovered deep behind enemy lines. As Infinity plans a rescue mission, however, Admiral Hood’s past with the ship’s captain threatens to jeopardize the mission. The investigation into the UNSC saboteur continues as the journalist infiltrates an Elite holy land in search of answers.

It's also hilarious how no one talks about Master Chief, even in passing. This guy that comes back from the dead again and saves the Earth again - there should be fucking parades and shit in his honour. Something. Some kind of recognition for the main that stopped the greatest war the galaxy had ever seen and the one dude responsible for saving trillions of lives.

But no, he's seemingly not as important as fratboy dudebro Spartan IV.

They should be making some kind of reference, or hints, or cryptic cut-off whispers. Something.

Waiting for Frankie to come in and say "nope".

Production Weekly is legit.

Everybody stand perfectly still for the school picture.

:lol

I do like the concept of that picture though..its the type of scenario I have wanted to see since the end of Halo 3.

It is, essentially, Spartan Ops season 2. It continues after Frankie threw Requiem into a sun.

It's kinda crazy how relevant the story of this comic is.

I'm not going to lie... the blurb for all of those sounds pretty dull. (Except comic 5). I guess its the fact they follow a cast of characters I have no interest in.

I really hope 343 does something to shake up the characterizations soon. If they can rewrite Halsey they can rewrite anyone!

Yeah sorry about that my bad. Dudebro IV's are stupid and Palmer's a colossal bitch.

For the continuation of story only one section is interesting, that being part 5 which is a shame. But based on spartan ops story that's not a surprise did anyone find that whole first season interesting?

For anyone who has the escalation comic how is the character of Ray? A good female character in the franchise, would be great thing to come out of these comics.

I thought the stuff with Halsey and the Janus Key was mildly engaging. It was the only part of Season 1 that seemed it would be important in the grand scheme of things.

it just built on Karen Traviss' personal hatred for halsey. which is garbage because a writer shouldn't put their personal beliefs on a pre-established character.

It's really not. Traviss told the story she was paid to write. Just because she agree with some of the viewpoints expressed by the characters in the book, it in no way means she altered any of the characters to fit her own viewpoint.

Such a stupid accusation.
