It was nice how the update talked about the sound of the BR but did not provide an auditory clip for consumption.
A scar, m16, caulking gun, belt-sander, and mortar.
Aka it is gunna sound nuts

So dumb. What's going to happen when your recoil-controlled shots are negatively impacted by network problems? Will it not be "consistent" anymore?
I must have missed the Halo game in which where you aim is not where you shoot.
Bloom is client side, too.

NO MORE IMAGINING.Imagine the sound of three volcanoes erupting in quick succession. Yeah, something like that.
I got to hear it =).

I was hoping to be greeted with an audio clip of the BR in action, alas. Sounds like it will sound awesome, though. Question: the Halo 2 BR was a laser, the Halo 3 featured spread. I'm inferring the Halo 4 version will have no bullet spread, but instead recoil (in the current iteration) - is that correct?
Wait im sure we all heard it in that last vidoc, didnt we? Am I imagining things?
NO MORE IMAGINING.
The sound in the vidoc is weird.
Im kind of glad you said that, I didnt think it sounded that brilliant myself, I still cant remember if a BR was fired in it though.
I feel better now.If it makes feel any better, I'm firing it right now. Sound good man.
Didn't they both have recoil?
I don't believe either of them did. Halo 2 had no recoil and no spread, and was also hitscan, Halo 3 had spread and travel time, but no recoil. It sounds like Halo 4 will have no spread, is hitscan, and has recoil. But I'm inferring the spread bit because it hasn't been mentioned, it hasn't been specified that I can see.
Delighted to see the 2x zoom back.

<insert bullshit canon crap about how spartans should be able to aim accurately and without recoil>Also saw the recoil, kind of made sense all things considered since 343 is really trying to immerse you in the game this time around. Spartans were quick but you could hear their weight. Recoil just seems like another addition that might be part of this direction of immersion.
If Halo 4 is going to have AR starts by default, there better be BR Slayer (etc.) gametypes in Matchmaking on day 1. Or give me customizable loadouts. Or a really, really good pistol.
Otherwise, I will be le sad.
That was a really stinkin enjoyable bulletin, well-written etc.
But like most everyone else I am saddened by the notion that it doesn't sound like we are starting with the BR as cool as it sounds (Get it?! An audio joke!).
Also the logo made me miss Letters, too. You'll be back soon, though, friend!
Me too.If it makes feel any better, I'm firing it right now. Sound good man.
Yeah, I know, I'm grasping at straws here. I'm just trying to not let news like this kill my excitement. I'll just have to Wait and See and try to not jump to conclusions.nope. Not good enough. Done vetoing and praying for a decent map with a useful starting weapon.

That being said AR starts do not elevate anyone's level of play and you're left spawning with an inept close range weapon while being pegged down by mid-range/long range weapons on any given map. ... I really don't want to see this in H4.
You can play competitively and casually with the BR/DMR
You can't play competitively with the AR
It needs to go.
I have 1 copy of Dungeon Defenders on Steam to give out to HaloGAF. No questions, no trivia. Just say you want it and promise you'll use it and it's yours.
Standard Halo prize giving away will resume shortly.
Why can't it just be BR/DMR starts?
Oh it could.
It could...

Of course there will be BR starts gametypes and even entire playlists dedicated to them, but even a single match with AR starts is one too many.
Unless 343 made drastic changes to it (which I doubt) the skill-gap on that thing with be remain minimal. It's really noticeable when we used to play with a party of 5 gaffer in Squad Slayer (RIP) against bad players. Every DMR starts game we would utterly destroy the opponents and it would end in like 75-20 and during AR matches the other team generally got more kills, somewhere around the 30-40 count.

Because, like Devo said about the entire long-mid range beating the AR, if an entire team starts with BRs, the "scrubs", as you call them, will be demolished and be unhappy, saying it's not the arcadey game, Halo, they wanted to buy.It should be. It seems like an obvious decision. Give the players who can aim a BR and let the scrubs use ARs. It's that simple.

Ye're all too cut and dry, If Halo was being aimed at a smaller audience sure, but they kind of have to/choose to cater to all sides as best they can.
Is Dungeon Defenders playable on a Mac?
