Help me Halogaf, your my only hope!
The only Halo game I have played online for any length of time is Reach. Well, last night my buddy talked me into trying Halo 3. I HATED it! Halo is not really my style of FPS anyway (I LOVE the BF series) but I still want to play as I enjoy being a well rounded gamer.
My biggest complaint is that it felt like I was moving in mud, the gameplay was so slow. Also no matter what weapon I was using it felt like I hit, hit, hit, hit and then someone else would swoop in and take the kill. So many rounds to kill someone.
Obviously I'm doing it wrong, so can I get some advice? Thanks.

Will you guys be submitting more invasion maps soon? I haven't been able to check Blueprint because a Windows LIVE problem

Wat? That's the show that got me liking him. He was awesome in SG:A.
Don't use automatic weapons. Unless in super Close Quarters.
Halo gunplay is all about precision weapons and headshots. Use the BR in Halo 3, or the DMR in reach. Aim for the body. When the shields are knocked out (3 shots for BR, 4 for DMR) then aim for the head for a one shot kill.
Strafe while shooting if applicable.
When I went to MLG Dallas in H3, kids were handing them out and popping them like candy. Was absolutely everywhere on the event floor and in the hotel.

Also something about not being able to get buzzed on alcohol when you're on adderall? Weird. If I was at some event or Lan, would probably be drinking I imagine.
Stargate Atlantis was just a watered-down SG-1, and Dex was just a watered-down Worf (I wouldn't have said such a thing was possible until I saw it.)
I actually prefer the best of SGU over Atlantis--there's nothing objectionable about the latter, it just feels phoned it. The later stuff with Robert Picardo was a lot better, IMO.
It's your basic "stimulants cancel depressants".

No not really, buzzwords are things that sound exciting, but don't really mean anything or have been used so much they lose meaning: Ultra, Pizazz, extreme etc.

That new d-pad is still garbage though. I just use a PS2 pad for fighting games and 360 wired for everything else.

It's a hell of a lot better than the original one, and I don't use it to game with a whole lot but navigating is so much better.

I recently went through the entire series – Wolsey was a great pick to head the expedition, but season five was probably the worst season of the show. I haven't watched SG: U in a while, until the middle of the first season, but I would disagree that SG: U was a better show than Atalntis (even the best of it). From what I remember, SG: U had an identity crisis, and a lot of the characters made stupid decisions all the time.
Plus, Atlantis had McKay. Can't think of a better character on SG: U.

No clue... though my one trip to NTGA (also in the Dallas area) and it was pretty common there as well.
In the hotel at MLG Dallas when we were LAN-ing each night we would have open scims for some of the semi-pro guys to come in and practice. I would put it at the majority of the teams we played had kids on Addy. One of the kids that bunked out in our suite didn't sleep all night because of taking it and he was terrible at the event the next day. One of the guys on my team had it, and swore by it... I don't think it made him a better player though. He certainly was able to focus for longer periods of time. I'd have to take breaks and get away from the monitor for awhile and he could just chug right through marathon sessions of gaming.
From what my cousin says it's pretty prevalent on college campuses as well for all night study aids.
All anecdotal... but I sure saw it with regularity at that event and at NTGA.
Edit: On a side note... I was bleeding Tashi Ceilings last night with only 1 Overkill to show for it (one game with 4)... where are you Senior Overkill? Why do you hide from me?

The lack of consistent info for Halo 4 sucks. It seems like with Reach we're getting one or two info drops every month from January until release.

Yeah, it's hard to complain about the last month. The big issue was all the MP info without any substantial MP footage, but MLG pretty much solved that for the time being.Holy crap, are you serious?

Yeah that's probably it. I always go through this phase when a new Halo is close where I just can't play the previous games MP. I don't know why, but it's always what happens.

WTF. You got a media blow-out two weeks ago. Tons of videos to watch. Especially compared to other Halo titles. And RTX will be in 2 weeks and San Diego Comic-Con in three weeks.

Oh, my point isn't to say SG:U was a better show overall, but when it actually did a good job I found it far more interesting than Atlantis, which would usually just leave me with a "meh, okay I guess" feeling.
But yeah, aside from "Time" in the first season fully half the show is good ideas botched by BSG "make everyone a dick" syndrome. It finally started moving towards something more interesting towards the end before aping Star Trek and crashing. It probably just shouldn't have been produced.
(I liked the Stargate style more than the Atlantis/Pegasus gates, though.)
Customizable HUD?
In a console game?
Unlikely.
I will gladly eat my words, though. Console games are still far behind the PC in this regard. No button mapping, hardly any control options (i.e. adjustable aim acceleration), and no options to change the HUD layout. 343 has been saying that Halo 4 MP is all about customizing your Spartan and adjusting your loadout to your playstyle. Why not give us more control/HUD options if you really mean that.

More likely; mid-screen text will have an option, but it will only be to increase the size.
And once you increase the size to see if there's a "no text" option, you can't scroll back to make it normal-sized again.
And when you go to turn off the TV in disgust, the remote is out of batteries.
And when you try to leave the room to get new ones, you step into a mirror duplicate of the room you were just in. And the X-box turns itself back on again.
Then you hear the laughter...

We haven't been told there is no customizable HUD. So the disappointment from building up hope at this stage is potential disappointment.
Would be very nice though. The Campaign has a different HUD to Infinity. HOPE.
