I can't wait to see BTB no-lifers abuse the hell out of these. 8 inheritors with unpingable sniper scopes vs. guests will be funny to hear about.

I think it is kind of confusing to talk about things that are unlocked partly through ranks, but we know near to nothing about the ranksystem.

Maybe it's just me.

But now I wait for the Bulletin, the info there will be better and better explained.

Lol soooo blackops 2 gets a rank system, spectator mode, online streaming...

Ok maybe Ellis can confirm this.

Say we have 50 levels to progress through.

1
2 [Unlock Armor piece X]
3
...
49 [Unlock something Y]
50

So we get to 50. Then we can pick one of 8 classes to specialise in.

1 1 1 ...
2 2 2 ...
... ... ... ...
9 9 9 ...
10 10 10 ...

These last levels before the '60' will unlock armor pieces which have no effect on the player. The last unlock is an armor mod. Is this something that would appear below tactical package and support package in the Loadout menu and something that can be switched on the fly in the game?

Holy FUCK this is confusing. Can't we just have a skill-based ranking system and everyone's vanilla?

I see Kyle, Juices, BigShow, and Over are on their top game tonight.

Everyone freak out based on basic, poorly-explained information! Before playing the game!

All of that sounded awful to me. What's the point of them is if they are only available after max rank.
“Specializations are just another opportunity to make the play experience months and even years after release feel fresh.”
How will any of these perks make the game feel fresh? lol

Not tied to load out, but armor mod: Specializations

Part of Load Out:

Primary
Secondary
Grenade
Armor Ability
Support package
Tactical package

This feels excessively complex. In addition to armor abilities, we now have three categories of additional, supplimental passive abilities to use in combinations. Most of which get unlocked as we play.

Newcomers are in for a rough welcome.

Edit: ah, they're part of the support/tactical packages? So only two categories?

lybertyboy

Thinks the Evil Empire is just misunderstood.
Oh okay, so just extra options for the existing Support and Tactical slot, but only achieved after hitting max rank.

Yes.

Can players obtain more than one? Say I hit the 60th rank, can I choose a new specilization and get two mods and potentially use them at the same time?

You can only use one tactical and one support mod at a time in each loadout.

Sounds not that good for me, but it doesn't sound bad either. We'll see how it will work.

I'm worried most, about the "not getting kicked out of scope" thing. If you are sniping, it may become ridiculous.

But yeah, not jumping on conclusion, let's see, how it will work.

Eh these "perks" seems to have very little effect on actual gameplay. More like tweaks than Buffs.

Yeah on the most part they seem pretty balanced, it was only as I read some of the later ones my jaw dropped:

As you’re taking shots [with the Stability mod], it allows you to keep your reticule more stable.” Yep, this one is almost straight out of Call of Duty, as it will also improve your from-the-hip firing accuracy.

Will make sniping even easier than it is in Reach.

according to Ellis, “Pops up on the HUD an icon of the last person that killed you.” This also applies to attacking enemies as well, making it useful for both retaliation and revenge.

I hope im right in thinking that this only pops the person up on your HuD when he is in visual range, because if it works like Max Paynes 3's vendetta's, where essentially you can see enemies position at all times, then thats just idiotic.

“This [Wheelman armor mod] gives you a bit of a resistance against that. It won’t necessarily stop you in your tracks [anymore].”

Well I hope they make the vehicle shine golden so I know when not to put myself into a suicidal position to emp for the good of the team.

Also the Forerunner vision one is a bit weird, but if it makes that perk useless I wont mind.

Frank, David, PLEASE explain how all these tactical, support, armor mods, packages, etc fit into a loadout.

It's so unnecessarily complicated.

Damn I didn't think I was going to be this confused.

We need a summary of the progression of how you unlock these armor sets and eventually the gameplay altering ability.

Hopefully Bravo's video and tomorrow's Bulletin can clear this up.

Wait, seriously?! Holy shit, I feel like that's something I should know.

Yup. The ONLY place that you see that other language that you got it in is on your console. Suffice to say, I did something similar for the 2 for 1 cheevo, and this is the screenshot from my xbox.com profile even though I'm signed in to my account on there:

I really see no problem with these, like, at all. I have afeeling some people aren't completely understanding how these work. As I understand it, you reach level 50, you choose which Specialization to take, and get an extra 10 levels to go through. Levels 1-9 give you cosmetic upgrades, and at the 10th you get a perk to go into either your Tactical Package or Support Upgrade slot.

There's no third specialization slot or anything that makes you inherently overpowered compared to everyone else. Just like the perks we've already seen, you're sacrificing some other benefit, like carrying two primary weapons or an extra grenade. Every single new perk seems int he same vein as the ones we've seen already. Mostly passive benefits that help you in certain specific situations, but don't totally define your playstyle.

Ugh these sound horrific.

Also, and this is an important part: two of the Specializations – Pioneer and Wetwork – will be available at launch. The rest will come online later…unless you purchase the Halo 4 Limited Edition, in which case you’ll have access to all 10 at launch.

They are arbitrarily locked for everyone except Limited Editions purchasers, but you still can't unlock them until you hit max rank?

How will the rest of the players have access to the other ones? Just flick a switch and dole out more content to players?

This is how i see it.

XP Ranks 1-50
Once you hit 50 you get the option to enlist in a specialization.
Enlist in "Stalker" Go Rank 1-10 Get bonuses ending in a Armor Mod
Enlist in "Operator" Go Rank 1-10 Get bonuses ending in a Armor Mod
Repeat for All 8 Specialization.

Congratz max rank have a special reward.

Man that Rogue specialization does not sound cool at all, I can already hear my future rage yells after a kid snipes me for the 3rd time while being pinged.

That's the thing, I really wish it would stop being poorly-explained right off the bat.

Spot on. First GI, now IGN righting factually wrong things (Hip fire).

Can we unlock more than one Specialization? Or is a permanent marriage to the first one you choose?

This is how i see it.

That makes sense. I think.

Ah, that makes it much less confusing. So you hit max rank, pick a specialization, continue 10 levels, then get a new support/tactical slot option.

Not too bad to understand.

IGN did not do well of explaining.

Yeah! Agreed.

yup, but good that David is on Damage Control, he knew some stuff would be misunderstood.
And the stuff that isn't correted now, will probably right in the bulletin.

I do hope so. I just wish we could hear it straight from 343 the first time around instead of having to wade through the media's horrible interpretation of what David/whoever told them.

You can only use one tactical and one support mod at a time in each loadout.

Cheers. I get that. Maybe it's too soon to answer, but say I specilize in Class A and get mod A which is tactical. Can I then specilize in Class B, unlock the support mod B and use the two at the same time?

I need to start drawing out pics to explain myself :/

I'm so fucking confused.........what is the point of the Pioneer specialization? So you can completely max out rank? What's the point if you don't have a visible ranking system.
