Halo |OT8| A Salt on the Control Room

First look event in the netherlands? When and where, exactly?

Yep, it's in Utrecht, pretty much in the middle of Holland. 2 hours with the train from where I live. It's on October 6th and 7th in a weekend so that's nice. Here's the site: http://www.firstlookevent.nl/

Make sure to express your opinions vocally with that deep manly voice of yours.

Oh I will. I will seduce them and then they'll change the weapon spawning system, even though the game has gone gold already at that point.

Where did you buy it from? Isn't it not out till till Friday?

Edit: I'm thinking of transformers, never mind.

Those big chunks of blamite are loaded into the bottom section of the Needler, where they're split into individual needles and loaded into the top half. Or something. I don't know, it's cool and that's what matters.

(I really miss having ammo packs instead of only getting ammo from weapons themselves. Remember that extra set of rockets on Zanzibar? This worked great for ODST's Firefight, too.)

Yeah, I really, really really hope 343i has thought about that and returns to offering up ammo. Part of the reason elements of Reach's campaign bothered me is while usually extra power weapons etc were hidden a little off the beaten track, in some cases they were placed right out there and might as well have had a "USE ME NOW" sticker on them (such as the SR and SG on Sword Base.) Having just ammo scattered around forced you to take a gamble--do I save these rockets and hope I find some more, or drop it for another weapon? (The SR in T&R comes to mind as the best example.)

There's really no point in being an Inheritor, but if you really want to be one...

Custom challenges- ONI sword base all skulls except iron and blind heroic/legendary.

1-kill 200 grunt heroes

2- get 500 target locator kills

3- kill 150 Elites (whatever the highest rank is)

4- kill 200 skirmishers/jackals (whatever the highest rank is)

5- get 900 medals

Keep spamming those challenges until you hit credit cap. (play around with the settings to get each challenge worth 5000 credits.)

Make sure you get a checkpoint like half a second before the target locator hits the enemies.

There used to be a way to get passed the credit cap but I think you can't do it anymore. (used to get 1 mil each day on my second account.)

Erm, don't do this. Couple of problems with what you listed:

2- get 500 target locator kills
This nets you 0 credits. No matter how many kills you get with the TL.

3- kill 150 Elites (whatever the highest rank is)
Playing on Heroic/Legendary with all skulls on (except Iron & Blind) makes Elites almost impossible to kill with one TL shot. So you'd have to reload and shoot another TL shot/spam with DMR/grenade. Way too much time.

The others you have listed are higher #'s than required except for your 200 skirm/jackals which is too low for jackal specialists and too high for skirmisher specialists (to net 5000 cR). The cut-off per challenge is 5000 cR, which you can get using the following, lowered # of required kills:

Challenge Type: Campaign
Goals: Kills of enemy; Grunt Hero
Target: 175 (5000 cR)
Time: 3 hours
Map: ONI
Difficulty: Heroic
Skulls: All but Iron & Blind (11 total)

Use the exact same settings as above except for the following goals:

Medals: 525 (5000 cR)
Jackal specialists: 260 (5000 cR)
Skirmisher specialists: 175 (5000 cR) - This one takes a while
This is the fastest possible way to do the challenge you are suggesting (and don't do it on Legendary). Even still, you'll spend 10-15 minutes completing just one set of these challenges (20k cR) and it requires constant TL/revert/TL/revert/TL/revert/etc... the entire time. Definitely not worth it.

They should just boost every challenge payout by 50% and double the weeklies.

I'm still a couple thousand away from Field Marshall, so I'm never making it :p

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...nges-will-make-call-of-duty-a-team-game-again

It's also implemented a new skill-based matchmaking system called League Play that will see players promoted and relegated into divisions for competitive play.

...

"I think players are going to start caring about winning and losing again, and are going to go out of their way to work together. That to me is what I found now we're coming into the home stretch. All these places in the game where we subconsciously did that: the League Play feature does it. Multi-team does the same thing. I just think this can be a team game again."

I'm starting to get more interested in this CoD the more I hear about it. They're implementing a lot of great new things while trying to keep the base gameplay the same. That's how I would loved to see in the development of Halo 4.

That is what 343 appears to be doing, from my perspective.

I thought people have really liked the base gameplay so far in 4 and that people's biggest problem are the many new things they've added.

Edit: Double melee'd.

^^^ We may think different about what base gameplay is. Imo, 343 has changed some significant things. Sure, movement and gunplay appears to be good from impressions but for me, those aren't the only things that the base gameplay consists of.

That is what 343 appears to be doing, from my perspective.

Quite the opposite for me. They are altering a lot of the base gameplay like spawning equally, having static weapon spawns, changing classic gametypes etc. The only thing they're adding as a new feature is Spartan Ops and with it, we lose another feature that was in Reach.

Has anybody played the Planetside 2 beta? Looks like Halo meets Battlefield meets some huge ass mmo; think its around 2000 players in each world at war with eachother. (oh, its pc by the way) Trailer gameplay

Call of Duty does look awesome, but after watching some recent gameplay I remembered why I quit. You die too damn fast, and there is just a ridiculous amount of aim assist. Planetside looks to have shields like halo.

Fucking lol.

You say they've changed weapon spawns and gametypes too much and then say the ONLY new thing in it is Spartan Ops.

Cherry picking 101.

I may need the rephrase that. What I tried to say was that SpOps is the only big, non-gameplay feature (that we know of for now) that was added in Halo 4. Meanwhile, we now know that Blops 2 gets a ranking system that tries to put emphasis on teamplay, streaming, spec ops like missions that alter the campaign's story. All pretty big, non gameplay changes.

The trick to TL boosting is to get the checkpoint within milliseconds before your Killionaire. Then, you resume and quit after ONE explosion, note the number of each enemy you kill, and build the custom challenges with appropriate ratios so that you're maximizing your cR/time.

Since you can't receive credit for more than 1024 kills/game, you shouldn't do more than 103 resets at a time. The enemy-specific kills should be set to how many of each type you kill in one shot multiplied by 103. You should see how much each payout is by entering every viable challenge and then take the top 5.

I believe the daily cR cap is 200,000. Any custom challenge cR earned over the cap will be removed from your account automatically after they are added. It is possible to watch the bar go backwards at the post-game cR payout screen.

The "base" game has always been the same, it was perfect in CoD4. However, since then they have boosted the perk system and made it more crazier then ever, which causes the base game to suffer. It is great and all about the new features, but you have to put that into perspective and your pretty much set for another CoD.

Hasn't the perk system stayed pretty much the same till now? I thought that since CoD4, it has always been primary weapon, secondary weapon, perk 1 2 3, grenade one, grenade 2. The only thing that really changed were what the perks did if I remember right. That and that you can choose your equipment since blops (I think).

Or am I completely missing your point? :p

The perk system has evolved every CoD. They have tweaked it everytime, but there are always emerging annoyances -- which usually doesn't get fixed because of different factors. Take that and the same old base CoD gameplay (not to look down on it, the same is for Halo) and like I said you are in for another CoD.

I'm not looking down on the game though, those features are fantastic but I'm not so sure people should be gushing over the gameplay changing much with those features.

I'd bet one can say 343 is trying to make Halo a team game again too, they just don't have an entire Eurogamer article on it...yet.

We've seen the credit payout changes for objectives and winning. I'd bet there is more to the system too.

EDIT: Also, Kojima confirmed a 25th MGS anniversary PAX panel. OMG.

At this point the daily and weekly challenges are hardly ever worth doing. If you get them playing as you normally do it's a small bonus. To go out of your way, spend a lot of time in playlists you don't frequent, and only get around 5K extra credits is a waste. The challenges either need a complete overhaul or they need to be scaled to your current rank. IE: The weekly should pay out 10% of your current level.

All armor should eventually be unlocked. Recon being unlocked for everyone is exactly what I want to happen to Johnson/Grunt Funeral/Reach's Limited and Legendary armors/effects down the road.

When the commercial reasons have long since passed, it doesn't make sense to continue holding those back. Reward the people still paying 10$ a month to play your out-of-cycle game with a little bit of extra content to play with.

No way. Exclusive gear should stay exclusive. The mild amusement you give to those still playing a game years after launch is not worth the upset you cause to people who paid real money for that content.

I viewing it as paying for an early exclusive period on that cosmetic content. Same with people that bitched about star nameplates being handed out, the semi-exclusive period simply ended.

edit: holy shit me and over just agreed on something

Agreed. Even though it isn't the same thing really, I got annoyed when Recon became avaliable to everyone once ODST was released, it didn't feel right for everyone to have it. I felt that the people who earned it originally through their contributions to the community deserved to have it to themselves.

Toward the end of a game cycle it shouldn't much matter anymore. I have blue flame on my head... and I didn't buy any code to unlock it. Who really cares anymore now that the game is in the final stages of its life?

All armor should be a timed exclusive. You can make it very very hard to unlock, but it shouldn't be impossible.

Recon was hardly difficult to unlock, anyone with decent knowledge of how to play Halo could unlock it, actually make it a somewhat challenge, like for recon they should of done so like get 50 in every playlist and a general in exp in each playlist. Extremely difficult/time consuming.
