Maps:
Love the verticality to the combat in Swordbase, but the layout of the innards of the two 'bases' is incomprehensible. There should be more quick ways up the three floors so that people using anything besides the jetpack can get up there quickly.
Powerstation feels like High Ground V2, and that's a VERY good thing. The mix of close-quarters indoor action, with multi-level outdoor action is absolutely brilliant. There are a few issues though. In slayer games, it never feels like there are enough weapons on the map. In CTF, the rocket spawn + jetpack makes it WAY to easy to lock down the flag with the RL.
Armor Abilities:
Armor Lock is perfect. Powerful enough to be useful in battle, but not so effective that its broken. Yes, it can save your life, but without a buddy there to back you up or an enemy stupid enough to approach you, you're basically just a sitting duck buying yourself time.
I was afraid the Jetpack would be a death trap, and it would be in the hands of an idiot, but used in short bursts, its fantastic. Great for getting to an elevated position, grabbing power weapons quickly, stopping a long fall to avoid fall damage, or just to ambush players from above. Love it.
Sprint and dodge are both great. Simple, effective.
Camo is slightly overpowered IMO. It lasts for so damn long, and you really only need a quick shot of it to aid an escape, so people basically have an infinite supply of get-out-jail-free cards any time the action gets hectic. Yes, technically you can still see the outline, but when the action speeds up, its easy to lose track of that cloaked guy.
Weapons:
Didnt expect to like the magnum as much as I do. I still drop it at first sight of a DMR or a Needle Rifle, but I dont hate using it in the interim. Well balanced weapon, it takes a lot of skill to nail the headshots as fast as necessary to kill an AR user in close-combat. At mid-range, its a great equalizer for players that have just respawned.
The AR is balanced perfectly. I was afraid it was going to be rendered useless by the new pistol, but its not. At close range it chews through shields and health so quick, you need to be a Jedi with the pistol to compete. At mid-range, putting burst fire and the new, beefier grenades together more than competes against the accuracy of the pistol.
The DMR feels weaker than the BR. Yes, you need more precision to land shots, but you have to fire fairly slow to maintain BR-levels of accuracy, so it feels like the weapon deals less damage per second. That would be fine were it not for the new Needle Rifle. The Needle Rifle just feels faster and more accurate than the DMR, and the fact that you can combine means you dont even have to aim headshots. I'd like to see the fire-rate for the DMR increased and the damage dealt by the Needle Rifle decreased abit.
The Focus Rifle is GOD. I love it.
