Halo: Reach |OT5| A Monument to All Our Sins

Wast thinking about getting this on games on demand. Anyone know about games on demand? Like if i delete the game can i redownload it?

I have never downloaded a game through Games on Demand, but if they are like all other content download from Xbox Live, your gamertag will have a license to that product, allowing you to re-download the game at any time.

Regardless, you cannot accept anecdotal evidence from one position and not the other. In actuality both of these experiences fall victim to being sweeping generalization fallacies. The point is, he brought this up because YOU brought up Dani's anecdote. It's sloppy reasoning all around.

If you guys want to have a discussion allowing people to use as many fallacies as they want you are more patient men than I.

So mentioning it when the topic of H3 vs. Reach Sniper was meant to be a joke? Guess I just don't get it.

He already apologized for the sniper thing and admitted he was wrong guys, just because he ignores tons of replies that are not beneficial to his arguments doesn't mean you all should start doing it too:
I wasn't arguing with him - his post was quite interesting and appreciated - but continuing a line of conversation that was ongoing. I had always felt the sniper rifle was easier to use, and the kills/headshots ratio is an insightful way to illustrate how. Looks like it's generally much higher in Reach than Halo 3. I'm a data guy, and it's an interesting data point.

Though admitting earlier on twitter that you post like you do to get a rise out of people and enjoy being unwelcome in forums will be a hard one to come back from, just like hirednoobs and the comment about ram's family (after all he went through with his newborn a while back).
Yup. I've made more than my share of posts I instantly regretted, so I'm sympathetic to a degree. Though it's odd to want to feel unwelcome on a forum. I like discussing stuff, but I'm not in it for the verbal combat.

It just sits there, taunting me!

It makes it worse that it's the last nameplate that I need too! Maybe I'll get a copy of it in my Bag O' Swag. (Some guy got a sealed mac version of it, which goes for like $200+)

Sniper Headshot Efficiency:
H3 50.2%
Reach 61.9%

Frankie had it right.
H1 - Easy
H2 - Even easier
H3 - Brutally hard
Reach - Slightly harder than H1, but back in a more rewarding place for sure

I found mine in a Gamestop for 15$. Tell you what, if I see any more copies, I'll buy you (and Tunavi) one.

Kinda sucks though because there's a finite amount of them left, so once a store is cleaned of them that's pretty much it.

Maybe you'll be able to unlock it via Anniversary?

I received a copy of the Halo PC edition in my swag bag. I need to enter the code to unlock the nameplate. I'm glad I hadn't bought it previously. It definitely made it worth the price.

Anyone on right now I feel like playing some games?

Oh and because this seems to be the new thing everyone's doing

Sniper Headshot Efficiency:
H3: 39.6%
Reach: 60.9%

My Walmart used to have easily 20 copies of Halo PC for $10. No idea what happened to them but it was always a bit sad to see.

There's been one at my local Best Buy for a long time, but everytime I go in, I always seem to have $21. It's just shy of what I need with tax included. I would love if Anniversary unlocked it.

Just about certain things. You guys are constantly ganging up on Fyrewolf it seems despite him having extremely insightful posts that are sourced. This is not conducive to good discussion and needs to be pointed out.

No. Well, as long as you aren't trying to play it on another Xbox or something. If you just play it on the one you downloaded it on, you should have no trouble playing it offline.

No, then it will be exactly like the star and become worthless.
I've been playing Halo PC for 7 years. It's nice to have something that actually shows that.

In this subject, I once started a post directed a Shishka with "Here's why you should get fired:" followed by some honest concerns I had about the playlists. That intro of the post was a joke but fffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuu I regretted that almost instantly and it was made even worse when he replied almost right after thinking I was serious about wanting him to get fired. I apologized and his acceptance of it seemed sincere but damn...

Jerpie welcome to gaf was harsh too, not that I changed my opinion, but I should've at least mentioned that his hands are probably tied by his superiors and a shitty sandbox.

Oh and oonsk.. what in the flying fuck was I thinking with that spam? Still can't believe I get you guys to read and even reply to my posts after that.

Wow, that's a pretty cool way to look at how much easier it is to shoot a sniper.

My numbers are a lot like Ghal's (well, percentagewise)

Reach: 416 kills, 205 headshots (49.3%)
Halo 3: 549 kills, 183 headshots (33.3%)

An interesting bit is kills/game, actually: in Halo 3, my kills/game ratio was 130% of Ghal's... while in Reach, it's 75%. I think that means he's smarter about weapon choice than I am. (That is - when he's bad with something, he uses it less. :) )

Reach's sniper is DEFINITELY easier to use than Halo 3's.

Oonsk wasn't your fault it was a mildly funny meme at first that got ran into the ground by HaloGAF and Bungie.net.

That's right, I said it: at one point, HaloGAF sunk as low as the B.net forums.

Wait, I have an distant memory of a bungie employee saying there was a cutoff date for those PC codes. Was that retracted?

OT, but man I have had a cold since coming back from my vacation, tried out some alka seltzer cold last night, and good lord this stuff tastes vile. Can't imagine taking the regular one on a normal basis, blech.

Yup. They could find no proof of a working keygen. As a result they decided to leave it open until one was found.

1) I didn't know anything about his kids.

2) I didn't explicitly say anything about his kids (only implied that he would raise them to be jerks because he is a jerk).

3) I immediately apologized.

And this thread and previous threads have been rife with trolling from the entrenched members. Don't act like you guys haven't been jerks.

But he hasn't been any more of a jerk than anyone else. Like Stephen said, his posts have been insightful, sourced, and he's been very open to debate/correction. I wish I could say the same for all of the Members, Twitter quips notwithstanding.

My sympathies, I regularly get colds after vacations. Something about jumping into a new germ pool while tired nails me every time.

If alka seltzer tastes that bad when you're congested imagine how bad it is when you can smell/taste properly. (My bane is Nyquil. That stuff is of the devil.)

Yea, exactly. My dad used to take these on the regular, along with Metamucil, ugggh.

I'll get in on this.

Halo 3
Kills: 11,278
Headshots: 5,648
Percentage: 50.1%

Halo: Reach
Kills: 6,070
Headshots: 3,612
Percentage: 59.5%

Sniper actually ended up dropping as my #2 TOD in 3 to #3 in Reach because of the Pistol. What a great change to the sandbox that was.

Dear lord, how did we ever live with Halo 3 Forge. It's like everything intentionally tries to settle awkward.

Yeah you get two licenses with every purchase, one for the xbl account (needs connection to internet in order to check for confirmation on the ownership), and one for the console that downloads it (you can play it however you please, even with different accounts). You can copy every license associated to your account into a specific console once a year, in case you change to a new console and want to be able to play all the games (bought on the previous consoles) offline.

Yeah, what happened is Bungie could only access the keys that had touched the multiplayer servers at least once for validation. The original cutoff date was at some point earlier in the year, to keep people from just keygenning.

Then I guess at some point MS let Bungie access the database of every printed Halo PC/Mac serial key ever, so the cutoff date was removed for valid keys since Bungie now knows every single valid key that exists for the game. Keygenning is now pointless because even though you can generate keys that Halo PC would accept, it wouldn't neccarily be a key that has actually been printed.

Here's the post:

http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=48057537

Q: How long do I have to do this?
A: We haven't set a cutoff date. We might eventually set one, well past Reach launch, but that's undecided. When you consider that this "Bungie Legacy Games" data can potentially be used to similar purpose for all Bungie games into the far future (but no promises!) giving even a few month window for registering the 7-year-old Halo 1 PC game seems awfully short. There will be PC fans who might not catch the news for a long time.

So no deadline but they're not saying you're going to be able to redeem them forever..

Also, either Halo PC or Halo CE's MOTD is now permanently telling people they can redeem their CD key for Reach flair, so they're doing a pretty decent job of informing people.

Look, when I first got accepted into GAF, everyone was getting along fine. We had awesome custom game nights, we partied up for matchmaking, we would brag about how awesome are games were on GAF. All the juniors got along with the members. Hitmonchan became an admin at HBO. The lake Minnetonka thing was hilarious. I tried trolling Tashi a lot, but in a joking manner, like I worshiped him or something lol. Tawpgun and I got in the IGN kills of the week for plowing through hell. We all were so excited to be a part of the forum finally. We all showed respect to the current members, and we all posted a lot. Everyone got along fine.

Now we have these new juniors and all we do is fight with each other. There's just no respect from some of new posters, and thats all I ask for. Sigh.

*jump off bridge*

People who honestly like bloom need to be forced to play on shit hosts more often. It's a pain in the fucking ass.

Also playing h3 the other night was a real eye opener to how clunky Reach can be.

This isn't a union. Seniority doesn't (or shouldn't at least) matter as much as post quality and general courtesy extended to fellow forum users. The reason the juniors are being so hostile is because members are being condescending and outright jerks in some cases. If you want to foster a good community that is a pretty crappy way to go about it.

But I agree to a certain extent, it would be nice to have less conflict all around and more actual discussion. Let's not point the finger at one side here.

Someone probably linked to the thread on Bnet a year or so earlier.
But it was never all fun and giggles. I was lurking way back during the H3 beta and shit was going on then and pretty much hasn't stopped.
