If we can't have the Halo theme Marty, can you at least give us a remix of Covenant Dance, prz. On a snow level for full effect.
The Gun pointed at the head of the Universe remix too.

They don't destry a new Warthog, but they will destroy one that's taken a bit of damage. I've toasted new 'Hogs by softening them up with some BR or SMG fire followed by a stick. More than half the time I stick one, it's toast.

You must be pretty good at the game or playing against rubbish people, personally if I try and stick a vehicle:

I Get gunner down by Hog gunner

Ghost backtracks and destroys me while my stickies dont go far enough

Chopper/ Banshee speed off

Either way stickies are pretty hard to use on vehicles unless they dont know about you!

As for the beta ive got a feeling its going be be right in the middle of my exam period, I just hope my last exam gives me a few days of beta playing before the beta ends :(

Silver skull for Halo 1 soundtrack, make it happen!

Wasn't the Halo 3 beta during May? It would make sense to do it during May if worked out well for them last time around. I wasn't really expecting it to take place any sooner than that, honestly.

This really a great idea.

Another idea, though much less likely to happen, is for explosions to permanently fuck up the steering of a non-tank vehicle, either by blowing the tires or warping the axis (for Covenant stuff...uh, by decombobulating the hyper hover drive?).

I remember WAAAAAY back before Halo 2 came out reading about how you could destroy certain parts of vehicles to expose the fuel tank to small arms fire. That sounds like a viable way to please anti-vehicle peeps without actually nerfing the power of the vehicle too me.

-edit- Wait, is it confirmed that the BETA will include a demo of Single Player/co-op? I'm so confuzzled.
I like this! Halo 2 was really good that way in that if you managed to knock off the cover, the hog was way more vulnerable to most firearms. Wasn't it similar to the Scorpion? Didn't that have a hatch that, once broken, allowed the driver to be sniped?

Also, I hope Reach features more unique map points. The gate on High Ground, the teleports in Relic from H2, the wheel and vehicle blockers on Last Resort. Citadel almost had an elevator. I am a sucker for those as they make the gameplay experience truly map specific. I know it took a lot to implement them but once done well, they serve as pivotal yet not vital points to defend/attack.

Probably 90% of all my matchmaking games are in BTB. To me, vehicles and Halo are like ice cream and french fries.

I like blowing up vehicles. It's what I spend half my time in matchmaking doing. :lol

May 17th was the official start date, if I remember correctly. It lasted three weeks - into early June.

The Ghost in Halo 2 could be destroyed (while being manned) by being sniped to the gas tank. That wasn't in Halo 3 for some reason, and not sure why. Halo 2 also has the duo at Warthog with the chain-gun and Gauss. While many favored the Gauss, and rightfully so, it was good to see more styles included. I only had wished Bungie didn't cut/decide the other rumored Warthogs (white 'Hog with snow tires, Jungle 'Hog, etc.).

-5 second cool down period.
-More than 50% charge will auto charge to 100% and fire.
Difficult to communicate the second point to the player, though (whereas cooldowns can be made obvious by sound and animation).

Seriously, lock people into firing it. It will cause all sorts of hilarious accidents, and make it a much more skillful weapon to use, with the laser-carrier having to gauge their warm-up, and the targets getting risk-reward opportunities to bait the carrier into wasting shots.

As for vehicles, I have no problem with a stick or two not trashing a warthog, but they would sure as hell kill the people inside. I appreciate it's sort of problematic to have bodies come flying out of an unbroken warthog, though.

I think I could get behind this if there were less than five shots to the laser.

I'd like an option that would make the Hog indestructible like in Halo 1. Just for fun.

Missin' the Warthog Jump here.

Halo 3 has an option to make vehicles indestructible.

You could have the top half of the charge meter on the reticule be shaded red and have the sound of the weapon change when you hit the 50% mark. Add in a deep hum or something.

Ew... you eat your ice cream with french fries? THAT'S DISGUSTING

Dip some Wendy's fries into a Frosty is the only way to eat them (other than bbq sauce, of course)

EDIT: Yes it is that popular.

EDIT #2: Hahaha

You've clearly never gone to Wendy's and dipped your french fries into a chocolate Frosty.

EDIT: Damn, I didn't know it was THAT popular.

Indestructible vehicles should be an option in MP if it isn't already. Silver skull for campaign as well.

UCON for the night level is a MUST. They keep talking about going back to their roots and Hol 1, if they don't have UCON at the start of that mission..

less popular but just as delicious is the nugget frosty combo

Nothing is more satisfying that driving a chain gun hog with a skilled gunner. Also, plasma grenades should not stall vehicles. Where is the EMP field coming from? I would also like to know why everyone is assuming elites won't be a skin option in MP? The article stated that spartan characters would look the same from SP to MP. How did that turn into now elites in MP? Besides, if MP goes class based, why do all the skins need to have the same hit boxes? :D

*Edit*
Edge screens look great for a game that has months of production left.

I like how you correctly called them nuggets instead of throwing in the "chicken" misnomer. :D

But yeah, the Frosty/fried-something combo is quite the late-night delicacy.

Over here we eat normal combinations of food.

I lie... I could eat anything if ice cream is involved.

Another good one is the...
'Naan, steak, crisps, spicy beef noodles, chilis, chicken, cheese, bacon, salsa, chorizo, various salad stuffs and then repeat in reverse' sandwich. Mmmmmm.

Is that sandwich like 6 feet high? How do you eat such a concoction?

And the Halo thread has turned into the odd food combination thread. Wth.

Oh and Wheat thins and cream cheese is the best snack ever.

I can see that being good even though McFlurry = rip off Blizzard.

Except that the McFlurry has 1000x better ice cream than the Blizzard.

Been a while since I had one. I was actually just about to head to McDonalds and grab some food. Might grab a McFlurry after all this talk.

Honest question: Obviously it's a piece of cake to change your brightness/contrast on a TV. How difficult is it to change the brightness/contrast inside the game itself?

The released Reach screens have fantastic assets, but something looks a little off. That seems to be the majority opinion, anyway.

(This is not the same thing as the "Make Diablo 3 darker!!!!" complaint.) With a few slight changes to the brightness/contrast of the pictures, you can make the game look significantly better. The lighting becomes more apparent, the aliasing increases, and the models stand out vibrantly, just like shiny armor should, etc.
Would this be too difficult to do inside the game itself?

At any rate, I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to change TV settings to make the game look like this when it releases. Check them out:

There's no such thing as 'British food' or 'American food', well... there is, it just sucks. We steal all the nice stuff from the all the Eurasian countries. :)

Think of like... one of those huge 'aint for no bitch' burgers that you can just barely fit in your mouth and then completely forget about it because it does not compare to this thing in the slightest.
It's good for when you've not had much to eat in a few days/are really, really exhausted and hungry. :)

Yeah, and as Ander said, Halo is a cool game.

And ketchup on eggs is the only way I eat them.
Hot sauce (salsa) is better.

Is EDGE supposed to be releasing more information, or have they already released what was planned on (which was a lot)?

EDIT: Hi, Kapura! Welcome to GAF.

Wow, that picture alone is convincing. Makes the game look way better than before.

There is something you can change in the HD settings that changes how dark things are. I did it with ODST and things got too dark. I'll have to look and see what it is after I get back.

There are three brightness settings in the options menu. I can't play on anything but "High". It makes it much easier to see people in dark places.
