Halo Reach Reveal Thread - Matchmaking/Multiplayer Details Revealed

The pink to me just seems to be a height indicator, theres a line under the blip indicating the enemy is higher than you.

as for the reticule and mystery item im confused as hell but hope they dont suck :lol

As for credits, perhaps theyre copying the COD exp system and just renaming it to credits? - either that or they could be actual credits you buy armour designs/ armour abilities with - and maybe getting killing spree's etc earn them?

The armour customisation is really interesting as it suggests its a detailed system like Need for speed for spartans :lol - I wonder how its going to work

Someone mentioned co-op health-bar for the blurred-out hud element.

Could this be some sort of "L4D-esque" approach to co-op campaign?

With variable number of squad member and such?

If Bungie pulled off some L4D mechanics in the co-op it would be truly appreciated (with a huge understatement, of course xD): having to work together in order to survive (well in a different manner obviously) maybe even with some special item to be used (think about medical armour abilities).

It would also please the people that wanted no invincible co-op AI.

Or maybe it is just something completely different and I making shit up:lol

Could be right. This is the stage in which we can't rule out anything although the answer may just be simple and obvious. There are a lot of co-incidences in that picture, that I'm sure.

The leaked images showed the other team member's to the right if the radar and elements were much longer in width too. Whatever the mystery item is, it's unlikely to be a health indicator for one specific team member.

The leaked images do show that the Noble Team's status will be displayed, if it wasn't place holder and makes it, in some form, to the final game, it may indicate something along the lines of what you want.

What comes to my mind right now - maybe its something like the command system Brothers in Arms had, just simpler. Move reticule over enemy, order teammates to attack. But on the other hand I can remember someone saying that you are not able to give orders to your teammates.

Yeah, I think it was Edge which confirmed you do not issue orders like Rainbow Six et al. Well, one magazine did for sure.

I just realised - This HUD is pre Alpha, for all we know it was slapped together just for the sake of having a HUD for players while they test gameplay features, it could change a lot between now and release?

Yup. It also make sense since Bungie is always trying to evolve things. And the only other game in the industry with a co-op campaign that can rival Bungie's one, is L4D.

So taking inspiration from it may be a great deal.

Firefight with 4+ spartans, vehicles and tight co-op/survival elements would be a blast.

Not that it needs to be a mesh-up between Halo and L4D. Neither do I want a rip-off.

Halo is Halo.

Yeah, one of the articles said that.

But then again, the line of command in Noble Team is simple enough: Carter-Kat-Number6-the others.

So who knows.

It could be something as small as a list of current Objectives in the mission because that is where it usually says you have reached a check point in Halo.

Would make sense for the blurring because they don't want to show any story elements in the screens.

That's actually what I'm thinking.

Can't really fit a lot of text in that space..
Unless the objective is like "Stay Alive" or something.

The reticule thing - it all makes sense now. Look at the image where Noble6 is on the left shooting Skirmishers. He is in the same scene - that means that the reticule in the other picture is Noble6´reticule during coop. Ah well I am overshooting maybe.

Didn't we determine those were the names of the other players?

And I just noticed the radar on that one is still the old version

I would do unmentionable things to numberous people if they made a L4D co-op mode in Reach. You could toss the campaign and firefight; it'd be more worthwhile then them both combined. If they included a vs. mode... dear god.

And where's the reticule for the Spartan firing in the screen?

And why depict such a screenshot anyway?

Thanks. Now I'm like the elite in that artwork :lol

With the leaked images and now the proper ones, we have already seen the development of the HUD, including the radar which went from a placeholder Halo 3 flat one, to the newer one which indicates height and is on a different plane. The Bungie Weekly Update already stated the HUD has changed colour, so more progress is being made on it.

However we can't just ignore it because it isn't final.

Definatly agree I guess its only going to change asthetically now so all the details are there.

Well my guess is that NATAL support is in. The detailed arm animations for first person probably weren't ready yet. That's why the gun isn't aligned with the crosshair.

It would also explain why it looks like Halo 3 on steroids.

What bothers me is the color palette in daytime screens. I would not like to spend hours staring at that. There's something about those greens that makes my stomach turn. Crow's Nest had a similar effect on me.

Also, that is a very cute kitten.

I don't see what's so funny. I suffer from an acute case of pareidolia.

I don't look for them, they're impossible to ignore. Always staring at me. Laughing behind my back. *twitch*

Well, I'm glad you didn't. Saying that a piece of this noble Elite warrior's armor looks like a penis to you would be very immature and totally inappropriate.

These are some great screenshots, are these from the current build or are these the "pre- Thanksgiving" build that was mentioned earlier?
Yes, these are all from the pre-Alpha pre-Thanksgiving build.

Well, we do know there is something going to happen with Natal and Reach. What exactly that is - we do not know. It could be a hud-placeholder for some tracking feature.
We do not know that Natal will be featured in Reach. In fact, I would doubt its inclusion. Reach falls in fall. Natal drops in Q4.
We've been told that Bungie is one of the several companies working with Natal, but that could very easily mean they are using it for their New IP to come after Reach.

I don't see it.
It's there, but it is really faint. And as somebody said, it was probably just something enabled on the build so they didn't run out of ammo.

Don't think we will be seeing full Natal support in Halo Reach (like forging using Natal...) due to hardware limitation.

If there really are...i would hope they would spend more time upgrading the graphics for weapon in first person view.

Gui_PT said:
Reach + Natal?

Not sure if want

If it is marginal, then why not.

Something like additional head tracking or maybe squad command gestures (given that we can issue some orders though we don't know yet) while keeping everything on the controller would be interesting.

I would really rather not have Natal be used during gameplay.

But perhaps it could be used in Forge. Could make tweeking object placement a little easier.

Yeah, it's blown up. But some of the tires don't come off, do they? Because if the wheels fall off, the whole axis(?) does too. And the only thing missing there in the back is the tire

I agree it's more refinement than a great leap forward ... but the quality of the art direction means that it really doesn't matter one little bit.

From the look of the screens, Bungie is gambling that the majority will agree, too.

Yeah, what? The character models are impressive, the rest is pretty poor. But as I've stated before, I'm hoping more so for a gameplay overhaul than a graphical change. Halo needs a new direction, imo.
