And since the Reach Beta is now definitively set for May 3rd, you can bet weve got big, delta force type plans to bring you all kinds of tidbits about this deliciously crazy sausage over the next couple of months. After all, we havent even shown squat from the multiplayer side yet. Hell, we havent really shown you that much from campaign. This is what you might call the tip of the proverbial iceberg and you best believe that were gonna take you on a deep dive before you swim around in the public beta pool.

I'm guessing the lines between Firefight and Multiplayer are going to blur a bit.BWU said:But, as always, theres much more to this story. Not only is the teams approach to building out our multiplayer and campaign spaces different this time around in a number of ways, theres also some monumental stuff looming in Reachs multiplayer world thatll flip the script if all goes to plan. Sounds all kinds of mysteriously ambitious, doesnt it? It is.

Am I the only one that notices this?
EDIT: Posted at top of update, now at bottom and by making zero sense at all, I now understand.

That's what immediately came to mind when I read that too. Don't want if that's the case.GhaleonEB said:I'm guessing the lines between Firefight and Multiplayer are going to blur a bit.

Maybe I got the wrong impression from Ghaleon's post, but I thought he was saying that it sounded like the two (firefight and classic multiplayer) would combine in some sort of way. I want both completely separate. No AI or bots in my multiplayer k thnx.Domino Theory said:Hm? Isn't it a good thing that FireFight and MP differentiate themselves?

Not a Jellyfish said:It is but this could very well be what the new "gametype" in the beta is. MP game mode, probably objective based with teams, and the map populated with Covenant or dropships dropping them in when certain objective goals are met.
Maybe there will be two teams pitted against one another, each holed up in a base seeing who can last longer on Reach. Whoever has more stamina to outlast the other team will win and prove to Reach that they can last long enough to please her.Not a Jellyfish said:It is but this could very well be what the new "gametype" in the beta is. Reeks of Recon (well, most likely a Reach equivalent). Haven't they learned their lesson?Domino Theory said:A Halo: Reach prize for playing Halo 2?! *head explodes*
Graphically, the game is a far cry from even the most recent Halo titles. Polygon counts and texture resolutions have gone up by an order of magnitude, and it shows in the up-close shots of characters and weapons. During the demo, they zoomed in on a battle rifle to show the tiny writing on the weapons sighting device. The graphical upgrade is so profound, that it almost looks like it belongs on a future generation of consoles. Particles and lighting have also been significantly upgraded, with grenade explosions looking far more complex and projectiles kicking up dust and chunks of debris from any surface they hit. Halo: Reach is one of the best-looking games weve seen on the Xbox 360 yet.

Shrinnan said:Considering that the BR doesn't exist during Reach's time (or at least that I know of), it seems like the DRM would take the BR's place and it looks like it just might..
You don't think Early Beta access seems more likely?Blueblur1 said:Reeks of Recon (well, most likely a Reach equivalent). Haven't they learned their lesson?

Shrinnan said:Does that mean it's going to be in Reach? Or is the DRM still the replacement?
Trasher said:Do we know yet if Reach will have the carbine or is the needle rifle most likely the replacement for it? When I saw the skirmishers fire that thing in the vidoc I got the impression that it was the equivalent of a carbine just as it makes sense that the DMR is the replacement for the BR.
Blueblur1 said:I guess different people are using different button layouts or the button placement has been chaning often. I've seen both "Hold X to swap for *Needler image*" and "Hold RB to drive Ghost" in the ViDoc.

I have no idea. The following quote initially gave me the impression was that it would be interesting for players owning the final copy of the game but I just noticed the use of the word "planning". I'm not so sure anymore. Maybe it will be a Beta treat.Kapura said:You don't think Early Beta access seems more likely?
