Awesome viddoc. Game definitely has me excited. My calendar is marked and ready for May.
Oh and all of you fuckers better be getting Perfect Dark XBLA or I'm crackin' skulls.
Seems like the best guess to me.Blueblur1 said:Isn't that an aircraft carrier? Like the one Luke hinted at?
Ramirez said:The best thing to come out of these videos is seeing the crosshairs in motion, not being able to hold down the trigger on the AR will probably make for a much more strategic feel in gunplay. Getting into a rhythm with the reDeemer will be a thing of beauty.![]()

Yeah, I would always tell my friends when playing teh Haloz that it's more effective to burst fire the AR when they're father back, and they never believe me/didn't know that it deals more damage that way. This will definitely help a lot of players. Not a Jellyfish said:Was said on that podcast that the crosshairs in motion is just showing data that was already there...so pretty sure people will still spray the AR and run at you, cutting the distance. :lol
I see this being visibly shown is going to help balance the play a lot, if people pay attention to it. The reDeemer does look pretty beast though.![]()

"Mode" is the proper term, right?Kapura said:A friend of mine just won one of the prizes for knowing that the Halo theme is in "E Dorian."
Which technically isn't a key :/

I don't know what he's saying. Unless I interpreted something the completely wrong way in the podcast, the reticule expands as the weapons take on a greater spread due to quick firing, making it so you can actually see when bursting is going perfectly.Ramirez said:Wait, are you saying the expanding reticule does nothing to the actual spread of the gun?
The spread was already there in the previous Halo games. This time around, the reticule actually tells you about it.Ramirez said:Wait, are you saying the expanding reticule does nothing to the actual spread of the gun?

Not correct, from anything other than point blank range.Ramirez said:There is very little, if any difference between bursting the AR or holding it down in Halo 3. I was under the assumption that this stuff was added to give the weapons more depth, meh.

That said, it's possible they are going to accentuate it a bit more this time around; it certainly sounds that way with the DMR.

Pretty big difference with the AR in Halo 1 as well. This is the kind of stuff only AR experts know.Ramirez said:You're trying to tell me there's a huge difference? Get out of here.
If Cocop knows anything about Halo it's how to work an AR. He admitted himself that he never bursts his shots and always opts to hold the trigger down. It's true that it makes it less accurate and less bullets will land on their target but bursting the AR decreases the rate of fire of course so it's not worth it.Ramirez said:You're trying to tell me there's a huge difference? Don't expect the AR to work any differently in Reach. It's one concern of mine with making the DMR have that widening reticule, sure you can time your shots and make sure they all land, but it might be more effective to just unload and hope the random spread lets you "outgun" the opposition. I'd much rather wrestle a heavy recoil which shows me exactly where the bullets will land and let me compensate than just wait longer between shots or risk leaving my bullet trajectory up to chance.

Seemed to indicate if you had any Halo 2 games recorded on your gamertag.Brainboy said:Hm, I can't quite figure out the wording about the 'Halo veteran' emblem in the update. Is it going to be given to all previous Halo 2 players, or only people who play on the last day? Would be a shame if it was the latter, since I probably won't be able to participate.![]()
Generic said:I just want to ask if you guys think theater mode is still going to be in play here. Wasn't one of the reasons Bungie took the resolution down for Halo 3 because the pressure recording every action put on the system? I'm sure Bungie improved their engine but Halo running at 720p with 40 active AI, 20 vehicles, 40 dynamic lighting effects going on at the same time, AND theater mode recording everything seems almost too good to be true.

Why are there images like this being posted

When there are moments that look like this.

The official screen looks good but this grab looks astonishing, im pretty sure there are other moments that look that amazing but almost all of the screens have been lackluster compared to what goes on during gameplay.[/QUOTE]
I agree. Maybe they released a couple of average looking screens before hand so that the gameplay footage would really blow us away? :lol
It certainly worked on me, because while the screens looked ok, I wasn't expecting to be impressed by the graphics. When I saw the game in motion though, my jaw hit the flaw!

It's a weird shot for another reason - there is all kinds of clipping going on (wood on wood, wood on ground). I wonder why it even made the cut, to be honest.clashfan said:I found this shot a little strange because it seems like it's the only scene in which the camera is completely static. Well, it makes the wait to experience that "big risk" even harder.
Not a Jellyfish said:From what Eazy posted about the difference in size of the models between Spartans and Elites in MP, it could very well be differences in play style between the two. Possibly certain advantages or armor abilities depending on which you choose to play as.
