DiabolicalBagel said:Then again I'm always playing with Dani and he has a knack for killing things with wheels so unless we're both dead, out of grenades, in extremely awkward positions, have no map control whatsoever, have no equipment, plasma pistols or power weapons and are extremely outmatched (in which case we deserve to lose anyway) we never really have a problem.
I'm trying to find it, but I used to have a hilarious video in which I two-shot a Warthog that was terrorizing my team on Avalanche. Everyone is panicking, getting mowed down, and I step up and fire off two BR shots, and the sucker blows up. If only I'd gotten there sooner.urk said:I four shot Warthogs.
I can't view those at work, but unless it's some guy using only bullets from his gun to take 'em down then I doubt it. I've never seen that happen.big ander said:Like this?

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, that's already in Halo 3.
Kapura said:Hey Urk, any word on a possible February return of the Bungie Podcast? Lots to talk about, what with X10 being over and the Reach Beta just around the corner. Maybe you could tease the Alpha a little too.
2 of my examples were rocket diversions using grenades, but another was with a sniper. I think they also tested it on Halo 3 Mythbusters. I don't know about other weapons though.DualX2 said:I can't view those at work, but unless it's some guy using only bullets from his gun to take 'em down then I doubt it. I've never seen that happen.
And yes I know you can do all the stuff I've been talking about with grenades, I was using that as an example.

That would suck. Rumor has it urk will be giving early beta codes to the top10 HaloGaf posters. As a shoe in for one of those codes I would be wanting the possibility of winning something else from Halo 2.wwm0nkey said:You know what, I wonder if the Halo 2 closing prize with the number guessing is a friends and family code to play the Halo: Reach beta early.

I have feelings you know. Besides, I am trying my best.
Vehicles are fine in both Halo 2 and Halo 3. Although in 2 you have a greater chance of survival against a chaingun because it isn't nearly as devastating as it is in H3. The chaingun in 3 can kill within seconds of spawning. H2's chaingun is a reason Ninja on Fire shifted toward using a Gauss on maps like Containment, Coagulation, and Terminal. Vehicles like a Warthog and Ghost were destroyed once stuck, which isn't the case in H3.DiabolicalBagel said:But they're not. The majority of players are just terrible at dealing with them.
As Ghal says, a lot of maps are filled to brim with anti-vehicle stuff and if you've got the skill and the balls to confront it, it's a sinch.
If people hide inside their base and whine like they've just been raped that is exactly what is going to happen.
I also prefer that the rockets didn't have forced lock-on, tracking is sometimes detrimental to your efforts.
:OThe Cinecam lets you do some mocap, clean your scene up, and put it all back into Motion Builder. From your monitor you can see the scene playing back, it can be looping if you need it to, and you can move the camera and get the perfect view using handheld or steady cam. However you wanna do it in the volume, it works.
Its the same process that was used in the making of Avatar, except ours uses a cheaper monitor and a couple of pieces of wood leftover from one Kurts (Nellis) home projects. Less money, same results.
This might be a good place to make mention that the recent ruckus in the press over accusations that Cameron had infused Avatar with some Halo-esque attributes have given us a good chuckle. Weve always been quite clear and it should be quite apparent to anyone paying any modicum of attention that Halo was influenced, in part, by Camerons Aliens.
Either way, we figure if James Cameron is talking about you and your work, you must be doing something right.
McFarland isnt interested in talking about the press, though. Hes still giving props to the groundwork laid before his arrival.
Its something that Ive seen at other companies, but Ive never seen it done in a two pass like that just like Cameron is doing it. I saw it here first and then later on in the making of Avatar. A lot of these things spring up simultaneously.
Clarification: Were not saying Cameron swiped tech out from under us, right?
Totally in parallel. I dont know where CJ (Cowan) and Javi got the idea. It seems to me like a natural thing that sort of sprung up for cinematics support.

Yeah, that article was awesome. Another great quote:Kapura said:Now it makes sense why there are two Blue spartans. It also explains the weird braids down their backs...
Really awesome article. It's great to see all of the stuff that's gonna make Reach awesome.
When I interviewed, I respectfully but honestly mentioned some of the things that I was disappointed with in Halo 3. After I got the job, they coincidentally talked about animation in the State of the Studio Address. They showed where we were at with Reach and almost all of those things I had brought up in the interview had already been addressed. I was like this is so -blam!- cool.
And the overall game itself?
We have this team of characters and they all have their own personality, so its not just a generic motion for every Spartan anymore. This guy is very specifically Jorge. This is Kat. They have their own attitude and its great. It just sells the performance a little bit more. Thats what Im looking forward to in Reach.
Im just really looking forward to seeing how it all comes out.

Warthogs take more than one sticky blow up in 2. We were messing around in 2 a few weeks ago and I noticed this.Striker said:Vehicles like a Warthog and Ghost were destroyed once stuck, which isn't the case in H3.
MIR? It would fix the "not block the markers" problem.Trade secrets are taken seriously at Bungie and motion capture is no exception.
But think of the hitbox!Gui_PT said:Over powered character. Will ruin MM.
I now deal with vehicles by using a good gaming headset. I can callout "Hog coming up on the left, Chopper on the right" a few seconds after spawning. It's nice knowing where they are at all times.Kuroyume said:Okay. :lol Terrible at dealing with them? How do you deal with them?

I think the general guess is that it'll be a tap for instant assassination and a hold for a shame-ation.Link069 said:I was playing the Aliens vs Predator game the other day and noticed that like halo reach that you can have a whole cutscene assassination sequence. Problem i have with this is that you can get killed in sequence when playing AvP and you cant do anything about it, being locked in and all. Im curious as to see if anyone has any info or speculation as to if it will be the same concept or same verbatim idea?
In Reach, the assassination animation is optional - just a flourish move. The traditional "one smack from behind kills ya" move is still in. So if you get killed doing the flourish, it's your fault. And humiliating, to boot. (Plus, from the looks of it in the vidoc, it's pretty speedy.)Link069 said:I was playing the Aliens vs Predator game the other day and noticed that like halo reach that you can have a whole cutscene assassination sequence. And while it sounds like the number of people who can play in a single multiplayer map will be going up, it won't be a big increase.
"Don't expect an exponential leap in the number playing in a multiplayer match," Jarrard said.
